The course will reflect on how to practise the Christian call to evangelization as witness in daily life. This course will show participants how evangelization is possible through all communication opportunities available in today`s digital culture.
This reflection includes three aspects:
Theological Aspect
The theological aspect will study how communication is a fundamental attribute to us as human beings. Our desire is to imitate God’s love by loving one another as God loved us first. This implies that the Church is called to be an icon of the communion of the Holy Trinity. Thus evangelization as witness is a rich, transparent sharing of oneself by the Holy Spirit and Christ`s Church sharing of oneself with the world while graced by God.
Contextual Aspect
The contextual aspect will include an interpretation of the phenomenon of digital culture, together with the opportunities and challenges it poses for Christian evangelization
Course Goals Technical Competence
The technical competence will study how new technologies may be a useful media to reach out to people worldwide. Thus mastering these new forms of communication helps us to be witnesses of God in the digital world.
Beyond witnessing the Good News and enticing new disciples of Christ, possibilities for online ministry and catechesis must also be explored and considered. Translating the Gospel from one medium (book/life) to another (digital media/ extended personal presence) requires an “ideal synthesis between faith of the apostles, the genius of the artists and the science” of engineers.
