Dear Families and Friends of Corpus Christi Catholic School, The 2015-2016 school year was a remarkable one for CCCS! In addition to a successful accreditation visit, teachers participated in various professional development opportunities and our sports teams had winning seasons!
During our accreditation visit, the accreditation team commended our school on the following:
Corpus Christi Catholic School's mission statement being visible and internalized by teachers and students
Successful implementation of Quality Improvement Teams
STREAM implementation
The Education Council's active involvement in strategic planning
The expansion of our athletic programs
Student leadership opportunities
Research-based, sustainable professional development
Parents are active partners with the school
Corpus Christi Catholic School teachers use of a variety of pedagogies and methodologies to actively engage students in learning. In response to our strategic plan, we began working towards our STREAM initiative by participating in research based professional development. Our middle school math and science teachers successfully completed the Applied Math Program through ConocoPhilips and Rice University. Elementary math and science teachers participated in the National Math and Science Initiative. Both enabled teachers to provide hands on, engaging lessons for our students with a focus on problem solving and creative thinking.
A wonderful group of students served on our Robotics team. They dedicated countless hours to research and design. Their commitment to learning and critical thinking enabled them to represent CCCS well in the Strake Jesuit Robotics Competition. All sports teams had successful seasons thanks to the dedication of our awesome coaching staff: Mrs. Brittany Kettle, Mr. Randy Winfrey, Mr. Johnnie Johnson, and Mrs. Suzette Lee-Alridge. Our Lady Colts Volleyball team placed 2nd in our division and went to the playoffs! Our soccer team earned the title of Division 2 Champions! Twenty six members of the track team qualified for the championship round. Both the girls and boys teams ranked as 1st place champions!
As you read this report, I hope that you will gain a greater understanding as to how Corpus Christi Catholic School is making a BIG DIFFERENCE in the lives of tomorrow's leaders. Thank you for all of the support you've provided us. It's because of supporters such as you that we're able to provide a rigorous, hands-on learning experience for our scholars that's affordable and accessible.
Please pray for us as we continue God's mission of building disciples. You and your families will be in our prayers. Mazie McCoy, Principal, Ed.D.
