We are particularly glad, beloved brother, Your Eminence Archbishop of Amer-ica, in being informed that in carrying on a long blessed tradition, you will proceed withthe issuance of the annual Yearbook 2014 of your blessed Holy Archdiocese of America. Therefore we congratulate you and their Eminences Metropolitans and Graces Bishops, the devout clergy and the blessed flock of this great Eparchy of our Ecumenical Patri-archate, which provides witness of the Orthodox life and tradition to the New World andnurses her nestlings under her tender wings, leading them to a life good and accordingto God.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate and our Modesty personally follow with affectionand boasting in the Lord the faith of all of you beloved children of God, as well as youraccomplishments, the morals and spirit, and the faithfulness to the institution of theHoly Archdiocese and His Eminence, the Archbishop, and the Hierarchs serving there. We rejoice upon hearing each time that in todays world when the number of peopledistancing themselves from God ever increases as increases the dominion of the mate-rialistic spirit within the world that is not conducive to the growth of spirituality, you, the

Orthodox people of America are imbued with a true spirit of offering to your neighborsand contributing to the salvific work of the Church, benefiting those in need.

Continue then, with the same zeal under the pastoral, spiritual and ecclesiasticalguidance of His Eminence, Archbishop Demetrios and your other Hierarchs, to be spiri-tually re-baptized in the waters of the evangelical life handed to us by the Apostles, asthis is experienced incessantly by the Most Holy Orthodox Church and grow yourselvesspiritually by participating in her God-given sacraments, through which Gods love has

been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us(Rom. 5:5-6).

The times in which we live are times of judgment and spiritual, moral and materialisticcrises. Many traditional institutions are shaken and weakened. We, the Orthodox, however, mustovercome the crises and do work that pleases the Lord as persons, as families comprised of father, mother and children, and as Omogeneia, and the Orthodox Church in USA. The blessed Orthodox

Christian family is a fighting entity and a ring of virtue. You must never forget that the Holy God,Who fashioned man from the dust, and from his rib fashioned woman, and joined her to him as ahelpmate for himblessed the marriage, so that the family that proceeds from it shall have a peacefullife, length of days, chastity, love for one another in a bond of peace, for societies to prosper andsouls to be saved.

Stand fast, then, and unshaken in the dogmas and teachings of our faith so that you maybe able to sail smoothly in the sea of the tumultuous life and be victorious against the multifaceted

challenges of evil. Follow the Lord on the path of sacrifice, love and offering of oneself, violatingnot even one of His orders and stay faithful until death. Be assured that He shall never betray yourlove in this life and in the afterlife, but instead shall give you the un-withering crown of life.

We brotherly embrace Your beloved Eminence and the Hierarchs of the Greek OrthodoxArchdiocese from the Great Holy Mother Church of Christ, we bless the devout clergy and laity, andcrown all our and your spiritual children with our wholehearted Patriarchal prayers and blessings. We pray that the Triune God keep you all in health, love and peace during the new year of salvation2014 and offer you spiritual and material goods and the inheritance of the desired Paradise.

And may the Grace and the infinite Mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your muchtoiling and spending herself in the service of your people, your Eminence, and with all the Christ-loving Orthodox flock of your Holy Archdiocese.

    MESSAGE OF THE ARCHBISHOP

    We will give ourselves continually

to prayer and to the ministry of the word.

    Acts 6:4

Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As we enter this new year of 2014 with thanksgiving and praise to God for His abundant

grace and in anticipation of the great blessings that will come from Him through our worship and

ministry, we are pleased to offer a new edition of the Yearbook of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese

of America. This annual resource continues to serve our Church and many people throughout this

country and around the world as a quality directory and guide. In addition, it helps us to see the extent

and continuous growth of ministry and offering at all levels of our Church in America.

In this modern age of instant communications and rapid means of travel, we know that we

are an Archdiocese of several Metropolises and hundreds of parishes spread throughout this land.Certainly, our greatest and deepest connections are our bonds in Christ, our Orthodox faith, and our

Ecumenical Patriarchate. But it is also essential that we are connected through our shared calling to

prayer and ministry. This begins in our local parishes, with the engagement of the faithful in regular

worship and in vital ministries to each other and to those with spiritual and physical needs in the

broader community. It continues with our participation in the events and assemblies of our Metropo-

lises and our Archdiocese; and this year it reaches a high point with our 42 ndBiennial Clergy-Laity

    Congress in Philadelphia.

This engagement with and awareness of ministry in our parishes, Metropolises, and our en-tire Archdiocese reflects the Apostolic character of what we are doing. Just as the Apostles organized

the ministries of the early Church so that the priority remained prayer and ministry of the word, we

must continue our efforts to coordinate our ministries at all levels to ensure that our growth is built

upon the strong spiritual foundation of our communion with God and our witness of the Gospel.

With this as our challenge in this new year, we can give glory to God for all that is being ac-

complished as shown in the 2014 Yearbook. Through this resource and many others, we are able to

see the tremendous service that is being offered. We are encouraged to join together in prayer and

worship and in affirming our calling to share the Gospel so that others may receive Christ and salvation

    through Him.

My hope and prayer is that this 2014 edition of the Yearbook will assist you as the people of

God and our beloved Greek Orthodox faithful, and that you will be blessed with the strength, wisdom,

and faith to give yourselves continually to prayer and the ministry of the word (Acts 6:4) throughout

    this new year.

    With paternal love in Christ,

    DEMETRIOS
