LETTER OF WELCOME FROM MAYOR LIANNE DALZIEL, CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL

I am very pleased to welcome you to Christchurch to compete in the 2014 World Bowls Singles Champion of Champions. It is our great pleasure to host the 50 competitors who have travelled here from over 31 different countries. This competition provides a wonderful opportunity for the best bowlers in the world to come together and pit their skills against each other and for the people of Christchurch to see bowling of an exceptional standard. I hope you will enjoy our hospitality and have a chance to explore some of our city's unique and quirky attractions as the post earthquake rebuild gains momentum and our new city begins to take shape. It is an exciting time to be in Christchurch. The New York Times and Lonely Planet have recently stated that Christchurch is one of the places to visit so please take the time to go exploring. We recommend a visit to the Re:START Mall and a walk through the central city streets to see how empty sites are being creatively brought to life and the amazing murals that adorn many of the city’s buildings. I wish everyone – volunteers, players, officials and supporters the very best for a successful championship. Kind regards
