CAREER2014: Signed with the Padres as a minor league free agent on May 2. Made seven minor league starts between Double-A San Antonio (two) and Triple-A El Paso (fi ve) after signing with the Padres as a minor league free agent on May 2...in his seven minor league appearances, put together a 1-3 record with a 6.03 ERA (21 ER, 31.1 IP) with 41 strikeouts against 18 walks. Is the second Cuban-born pitcher to ever appear in a game for the Padres (Eddie Oropesa, 16 games in 2004) and the fi rst to ever make a start.
