The book of Daniel’s first six chapters focus on the history of the exiles during their time in Babylon. The last six chapters focus on the prophecy of future events for God’s people in exile and God’s people of all time. The common theme throughout this book is that God is in control and is superior to any idols or nations, a message of comfort for God’s people of all generations. Advent by Candlelight is an opportunity for women of all ages (grade school girls through great-grandmas) to set aside the hustle and bus-tle of holiday prepara-tions and focus their minds and hearts on the birth of Christ.
Our evening will begin with dessert, followed by a program titled, “Keeping Christ in

Dear Association Congregations and Schools,
We are pleased to share that St. Croix Lutheran has been included in the article titled “The 30 Best
Christian Boarding Schools in America” by TheBestSchools.org. Here is the link to that article:
http://www.thebestschools.org/features/30-best-christian-boarding-schools-america/
TheBestSchools.org selected St. Croix Lutheran based on several weighted factors, including academic
excellence, extracurricular richness, geographical and demographical diversity, and reputation. Also, we
gave strong preference to coeducational institutions; a few gender-specific schools are included due to their
academic excellence.
TheBestSchools.org is a leading resource for prospective students seeking a college or university degree.
Many schools in the United States reference our rankings including Auburn University, Boston University,
Texas A&M University, Fordham University, and many more.
Thank you for your continued partnership in Christian education!

We Have Been ACTIVE!We Have Been ACTIVE!We Have Been ACTIVE!We Have Been ACTIVE!
The fall season has found our stu-
dents moving and shaking!
• Volleyball came to a close with
the big tournament in Goodhue.
Each of our students showed
much improvement over the
course of the season.
• Soccer season ended in
Plainview on October 4.
• Soccer Days were held in Can-
non Falls. Grades 1-5 partici-
pated on September 30 with
grades 6-8 taking their turn on
October 1.
We would like to thank parents
for ge-ing their child(ren) to the
practices, games, and special
events. We could not be involved
in such activities without drivers
and coaches. Players, we thank you
for your hard work and team spirit!

Yes, it is true! We held our annu-
al Kick, Pass, Spike contest down at
Bay Point Park one late September
day. This is for all students in
grades K-8.
The winners from that competi-
tion were able to head to St. Croix
Lutheran High School for the con-
test held during half-time of their
homecoming game! In that contest
our school winners compete against
other students from Lutheran
schools in our area.
Fourth grader, Sarah Kirchner,
brought home a win for her age
group, but all did a good job and
enjoyed themselves.
P.S. St. Croix Crusaders won
their homecoming game 20-6.
Now We Start Thinking
Basketball! The Parent/Player/Coach
Meeting will be held at
6 PM on October 30.

We gratefully accept
these reference books!

LES K-8 Students Sing for
Reformation Sunday, November 2
If your last name begins with le-ers A through
K, your child will sing during the 8 AM worship
service. L to Z children will sing during our
10:30 AM worship service. Students are wel-
come to sing in both services. As a ma-er of fact,
we’d love it!
Looking Forward Friday, January 30, we will
be having a science fair involv-
ing Kindergarten through
eighth graders.
Don’t wait until the last mi-
nute! Begin thinking about potential topics now.

Meet Math Students in grades 5-8 compete each year in Meet Math, a program from Martin Luther College in
New Ulm, Minnesota. Our students take a problem-solving tests four times during the school year,
and our results are compared with other schools of similar size across the country. The first test was
Tuesday, October 21. Katie Engel led the seventh and eighth grade team with 5 correct answers.
Kailyn Peterson, Anna Pritchard, and Devin Kla- led the fifth and sixth grade team with 5 correct an-
swers. Nice job!
WoWee! Have you been able to take advantage of God’s blessings this fall? We have seen many beauti-
ful days and clear, crisp nights. Take time to share autumn’s bounty with your children. Noth-
ing fancy, just enjoying the sights and smells of autumn. How about star-gazing on a clear
night? Maybe finding a formation or just enjoying God’s handy work.
Dear Father, thank you so much for the change of seasons!
