Three words describe our collection:

WE HAVE CHOSEN LUXURIOUS FABRICS TO WORK

WITH IN THIS COLLECTION: SILK, SOUTH AFRICAN

MOHAIR, THE SOFTEST NAPPA LEATHER.

We have consciously selected natural textiles that feel

best next to your skin and we are especially delighted

by our own South African, ‘home-grown’ mohair in

our range.

SILK represents the feminine, the divine feminine, depicted by our

bodhisattva icon, the goddess of womanhood, illustrating how

women, through their love of beautiful things can transform lives

and restore balance and order in our world.

LEATHER represents our primal nature, which is care and concern as much

as it is desire and sensuality.

MOHAIR

represents soft warmth, the warmth we feel when we wear it

and the warmth we feel knowing that this has been hand-knitted

with care for us, allowing a community of rural women to enjoy a

sustainable livelihood.

THE SIMPLE SILHOUETTES

this allows the beauty of the fabrics and the aura of the wearer

to blend in a magical way. nothing overpowers the other. it is

about harmony, poise and balance - a spirit that pervades not

only our clothes, but also our business philosophy in pursuit of

designing a new, more inclusive, sustainable economy

Design Indaba represents the first key milestone of a 9-month long whirlwind journey, to establish this business and fashion label. And it is at Design Indaba, that Bodhisattva is

finally being launched.

This is also 2014, the year of cape Town

World Design capital. WDc2014 is

more than just about aesthetic design.

it is about how design can transform

lives.

bodhisattva does more than just design

clothes; we’re also creating a new, more

inclusive, sustainable economy. And

that is why we have been recognised

as a cape Town World Design capital

initiative #WDc573. because

bodhisattva is reimagining fashion in

a way that positively transforms lives -

for those making the clothes and those

wearing them.

FOUNDER

YUMNAA FIRFIREY

The creative and managing director

of bodhisattva is yumnaa Firfirey, a

social entrepreneur and economic

development practitioner. she is also

active advocate for a more inclusive

economy and for responsible

business.

Yumnaa founded Bodhisattva

to explore and illustrate how a

fashion business can be an active

role player in socio-economic

change.
