Newsletter of ESWAU HUPPEDAY, Lodge #560, Order of the Arrow VOLUME 34 | ISSUE 3 JUNE 2014 Fellow Arrowmen, Summer is upon us and it is time for us to start getting involved with the service projects around camp. As most of you know we have our May, June, and August Ordeals where we bring in new ordeal candidates while also completing service projects around camp to benefit our summer program. However there are other ways that you can help the lodge outside of working on an ordeal weekend. This year I will be on camp staff and promoting the OA heavily. Our participation has decreased these past couple of years and I’m looking to change that. So I would like to ask you all to promote our lodge this summer in the week you are at summer camp. Inform others of our 50th Anniversary and how Camp Bud Schiele is the place to be during our annual Fall Fellowship as we have our Celebration of our 50 years as a lodge. Also along with that the lodge will be selling our own patches this summer at summer camp. We will be selling them during Wednesday nights at the OA Cracker Barrel. We will be selling them one per person at summer camp for scoutmasters and all there scouts to have, however if you fill out a Lodge Questionnaire to be given out to the scout masters in their troop mail box at camp, you will be able to get one free. They will be 3 dollars and even though you can only acquire one each for your youth and adults at camp, we will have pre-order forms for you to be able to order more if you really like them, which I am sure you will. I hope all of you enjoy your summer and hope to see you all at summer camp this season. Matt Cook Lodge Chief

Carolina’s Indian Seminar

Welcome New Ordeal Members Welcome to Eswau Huppeday and the Order of the Arrow! The Ordeal introduced you to the mysteries of the Order. Now, during your service as an Ordeal member, you have the opportunity to increase your knowledge of the Order - but how do you do that? The best way is to get active! Hopefully, you'll have the opportunity to meet with your Chapter soon and get to know your local brothers. Another great way to get active is to join an American Indian Affairs team. The Chairs of the Dance, Sing, and Ceremonies teams are listed below and can be contacted using the form at eswau.net/contact-us. And don't forget about Cook Team - there's always room for help in the kitchen. Speaking of the website, there's lots of information about our lodge and the order on our website at eswau.net. Plus check out the amazing High Adventure opportunities that are available to you at adventure.oa-bsa.org. Philmont for $250? Yes! 10 months after your Ordeal, you're eligible for Brotherhood membership. Brotherhood is the next step on thejourney that started when you were inducted into the Order of the Arrow. Get a jumpstart on your Brotherhood at jumpstart.oa-bsa.org. Last but certainly not least - come to our lodge events. Whether it's providing cheerful service at an Ordeal or

competing in Quest events at a Fellowship, our lodge events are where the real action is! We're marking our 50th Anniversary this year and our Fall Fellowship will be one

that no Arrowman will want to miss.

August is not just a German guy with an impressive mustache; it's also the month of the last Ordeal of the season. Last chance for the recently elected members from Piedmont Council units to go through ordeal is August 15th - 17th at Camp Bud Schiele. Be sure and join us that weekend as we usher in the last wave of new members to our lodge. We'll need your help for Ordeal and for camp service, and if you show up with an impressive mustache of your own - all the better! See you there in August!

Fall Fellowship Marks Our 50th Anniversary Make plans now to join us September 12 - 14 for our 50th Anniversary Celebration at Fall Fellowship. Our Fall Fellowship is always the event of the season, but this year, it's the event of the Half Century! And don't forget Lodge Elections will be held at Fall Fellowship, so be prepared to nominate and support your candidates.

2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference

The National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) is the premier event of the Order of the Arrow, and is

Scouting's second-largest national event. Over 10,000 Arrowmen

from across our nation gather for an inspirational and unforgettable experience full of fellowship, training, adventure, and fun! During NOAC, Arrowmen will participate in a six-day conference which includes top notch training sessions, cool recreational opportunities, evening shows full of theatrics and special effects, and exciting programs. The 2015 NOAC will be held from August 3-8, 2015 at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. Arrowmen can travel to NOAC with a contingent from their lodge, or as a staff member supporting the thousands of Arrowmen attending in the conference. Arrowmen attending the 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference will get a once in a lifetime souvenir, a special edition red sash. These sashes will differ from those currently worn in that the colors will be reversed, with a white arrow emblazoned on a red sash. The rarity of the sash is noteworthy, as only those present at NOAC 2015 will receive them. Any extras produced will not be sold. Don't miss out on NOAC in 2015, because the next one won't be until 2018! To reserve you spot in your lodge contingent talk to your lodge chief, lodge adviser, or lodge staff adviser today.
