ABOUT THIS DIRECTORY

This is a directory of over 200 publicly funded programs that provide alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment and recovery services for California women and their children. The directory was developed by the Office of Women’s and Perinatal Services (OWPS) at the Department of Health Care Services with the goal of providing contact information for all AOD treatment and recovery programs that receive Perinatal Federal Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SAPT BG) funds and/or Drug Medi-Cal funds that are set-aside specifically for treatment services for pregnant and parenting women. There are programs in California that serve women and their children but do not receive these funds. For a complete list by county of all non-medical alcoholism and drug abuse recovery or treatment facilities licensed and/or certified in California, contact the Resource Center at 1-800-879-2772 and request publication # 3485 or access the website at http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/individuals/Pages/ResourceCenter.aspx.

The programs in this directory are listed alphabetically by county. The service modalities available at each location are shown directly below the program name in italics. A listing and explanation of the service modalities is on page three. The facilities listed in this directory are based on information submitted to the Department from each county for state fiscal year 2011-2012.

To access availability and funding information regarding a particular county, if there are no facilities listed under a county, or if further information is needed, contact the county directly. Refer to Appendix A (see page 21) for a list of current county designated AOD program administrators and phone numbers.

Please use Appendix B (see page 24) to notify the OWPS if any changes are to be made. The OWPS can be reached at 916-322-0495 or via email at [email protected]. We appreciate the sharing of information so that we may provide the most accurate directory possible.

If you would like information about this publication, or to request additional copies, contact the Resource Center at 1-800-879-2772 and request publication #3485 or access the website at http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/individuals/Pages/ResourceCenter.aspx.

If you would like to file a complaint about one of these programs, contact the Licensing and Certification Program Compliance Branch toll free at 1-877-685-3333 or for California residents 916-322-2911 or access their website at:http://www.dhcs.ca.gov/individuals/Pages/LicensingandCertification.aspx

It is our hope that this directory will become a valuable resource tool in an effort to make appropriate services available to the women and children of California.

SERVICE MODALITIES

Narcotics Treatment Programs (NTP)

NTPs provide Narcotic Replacement Therapy as prescribed by a physician to alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal from narcotics.

Outpatient Drug Free (ODF)

ODF treatment/recovery services are provided when the client does not reside in a treatment facility. The client receives treatment services for drug use or alcohol abuse with or without medication, including counseling and/or supportive services. This is also known as nonresidential services.

Rehabilitative Ambulatory Intensive Outpatient Day Care (DCR)

DCR services are provided to a client for three or more hours, but less than 24 hours a day, for three or more days per week. Participants may live independently, semi-independently, or in a supervised residential facility that does not provide DCR services. Daycare differs from outpatient care in that clients participate according to minimum attendance schedules and have regularly assigned treatment activities.

Residential/Recovery Long Term

Non-acute care in a residential setting with treatment services for alcohol and other druguse and dependency. Services are providedby program-designated personnel and include the following elements; personal recovery/treatment planning; educational sessions; social/recreational activities; individual and group sessions; and information about (and may include assistance in obtaining) health, social, vocational and other community services.

Transitional Living

A facility designed to help women maintainan alcohol and drug-free lifestyle and “transition” back into the community. Activities are supervised (although not necessarily 24 hours a day) within an alcohol and drug-free environment. Attendance at a recovery and treatment program is mandatory, although those services may not be onsite.
