Walmart Presents Blake Shelton Grand Opening Community Concert June 7 | Concert Sold OutMay 9 | 2014 – Blake Shelton has earned superstar status with a slew of No. 1 singles, high-charting albums and rugged good-looks. In 2001, Blake’s first ever single, “Austin,” shot straight to the top and became one of the most successful debut singles in country music history. Shelton continues to capti-vate audiences with his ability to straddle the line between contemporary and traditional country. Many know Blake as the breakout star of NBC’s “The Voice,” a show that gave this Oklahoman the spot-light his fans knew he deserved all along. Walmart covered the cost of this concert, which allowed for $5 and $10 tickets with proceeds going toward local charities. Due to the low cost and popularity of the artist, the demand was far greater than the number of tickets available. The show sold out in less than three hours with over 25,000 people want-ing tickets for a venue with capacity of 7,000.
