Crazy Horse MemorialThe world’s largest mountain carving in progresshonors the North American Plains Indians. Located on Hwy 16/385 in the Southern Black Hills, the complex includes museums, a cultural education center, gift shops and restaurant. Bus rides, guided tours available. Open year-round. Devil’s Tower National MonumentDesignated in 1906, the nation’s fi rst national monument is actually the core of a volcano, and is sacred to tribes with connections to the Black Hills. At 865 feet high, with 7.4 miles of paths, it offers great rock climbing and hiking. It’s perhaps best remembered for – “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. Open year-round. Badlands National Park75 miles east of Rapid City, The Badlands containone of the world’s richest fossil beds. Ancientmammals such as the rhino, horse and saber-toothed cat once roamed here. The Mammoth SiteTour the World’s largest mammoth research facility and experience an active paleontological dig site.
