Classical SeriesOur�series�includes�a�YouTube�superstar�who�garnered�more�than�60�million views, original programs created just for our audience, newly discovered pieces from the 20th century, and classical masterworks for piano, guitar, chorus, and string quartet.

Jazz Series This year we welcome all newcomers to our Jazz Series, but they are not new to jazz fans who know these artists are quickly becoming the standard bearers of today.

Organ Series With�10,010�pipes�divided�into�146�ranks,�the�Longwood�Organ�is�the�largest Aeolian organ ever constructed for a residential setting. We continue to share our founder Pierre S. du Pont’s love of organ music by presenting concerts and holiday sing-alongs each year.

Classical SeriesDublin Guitar QuartetTuesday, October 218 pmDescribed as a “quartet with a difference” by the Irish Times, the Dublin Guitar Quartet is a one-of-a-kind classical guitar ensemble in the chamber music world. It is�the�first�classical�guitar�quartet�devoted�to new music. Audiences can expect an entertaining and completely novel concert experience featuring music of Arvo Pärt, John Tavener, and others.

Jazz Series Cyrus Chestnut Trio Thursday, October 30 8 pm Chestnut continually tours with his trio, playing at jazz festivals around the world as well as clubs and concert halls. His leadership and prowess as a soloist has also�led�him�to�be�a�first�call�for�the�piano�chair in many big bands including the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band. November Organ SeriesPeter Richard ConteThursday, November 138 pmPeter Richard Conte is Principal Organist of The Longwood Organ and Grand Court Organist of the world famous Wanamaker Organ at the Macy’s department store in Philadelphia. Conte was appointed Grand Court Organist in 1989, and is only the fourth person to hold that title since the organ�first�played�in�1911.�His�program�will�include Bizet’s Suite from Carmen and Elgar’s Enigma Variations.

Magos & Limón Friday, November 21 8 pm Experience�the�brilliant�style�of�flamenco-jazz when the Mexican singer, Magos Herrera and the Spanish guitarist, composer, and producer, Javier Limón revitalize the sounds of American jazz with Latin tradition.

Classical Series Valentina Lisitsa Saturday, November 22 8 pm Valentina�Lisitsa�is�the�first�classical�pianist to convert her internet success into a global concert career. December Holiday Series Solas Presents A Celtic ChristmasWednesday, December 38 pmSolas burst onto the Irish music scene 15 years ago and instantly became a inspiration—an incandescent ensemble that found contemporary relevance in timeless traditions. Holiday SeriesChristmas with the Canadian BrassThursday, December 4 8 pmThe game-changing brass quintet Canadian Brass has performed in virtually every major concert hall in the world, been seen by hundreds of millions of people on television, sold 2 million albums worldwide, and contributed nearly�600�new�works�and�arrangements�to the brass quintet repertoire. The group is almost single-handedly responsible for elevating the art of the brass quintet to what it is today.

Commonly referred to as ‘Tuku’, this guitarist, singer, and songwriter, along with his band the Black Spirits combine a variety of musical backgrounds and perform with a distinct style.

Organ SeriesHector Olivera Thursday, February 128 pmMaestro Hector Olivera is a passionate, gifted, and unique musician, whose personal interpretations of both classical and popular music have amazed and delighted audiences around the world. Many�organ�aficionados�claim�that�he� is one of the greatest organists in the world today.


Classical SeriesO’Connor Quartet Thursday, February 198 pmViolinists Mark O’Connor and kelly Hall, violist Gillian Gallagher, and cellist Patrice Jackson, make up one of the most talented and exciting string quartets on the scene. The concert will include O’Connor’s String Quartet No. 3 “Old Time” and other selections of American music.

Classical Series Curtis Student Recitals Sunday, February 22 Sunday, April 19 1 pm The Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia trains exceptionally gifted young musicians for careers as performing artists on the highest professional level. Experience the stars of tomorrow as they perform solo and chamber music in these pre-graduation recitals.


Jazz Series

Anat Cohen Quartet Saturday, February 28 8 pm Clarinetist-saxophonist Anat Cohen returns to Longwood after wowing the 2013 Wine & Jazz Festival crowd. Cohen has been voted Clarinetist of the Year seven years in a row by the Jazz Journalists Association and topped the critics and readers polls in DownBeat magazine. “Cohen not only proved to be a woodwind revelation of dark tones and delicious lyricism, but also a dynamic bandleader who danced and shouted out encouragement to her group…” —DownBeat Magazine.


MarchOrgan SeriesMichael Stairs & Rudy Lucente: Organ & Piano Concert Sunday, March 11 pmMichael Stairs is organist for the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Rudy Lucente is both an Assistant Organist at the Grand Court Organ in Philadelphia and a holiday organist at Longwood Gardens. Lucente will be performing on piano for this concert.


A World of Music SeriesDanú Thursday, March 58 pmHailing from historic County Waterford, Danú is one of the leading traditional Irish ensembles of today. Recognized around the world for their standing-room only appearances, their high-energy performance features a glorious mix of ancient Irish music and new repertoire. The dramatic sound and vibrancy of the performance increases exponentially as two former members of the ensemble join the group during the March 2015 American tour in celebration of the ensemble’s 20th anniversary.

Jazz Series Fred Hersch Trio Saturday, March 21 8 pm Proclaimed by Vanity Fair magazine, “the most arrestingly innovative pianist in jazz over the last decade or so,” 6-time�Grammy�nominee�Fred�Hersch�balances his internationally recognized instrumental�skills�with�significant�achievements as a composer, bandleader, and theatrical conceptualist. Hersch is the leader of the illustrious Fred Hersch Trio whose Alive at the Vanguard won the Grand Prix du Disque from the Académie Charles Cros in France.

Open Organ Console Day Saturday, April 11 9:30 am–12:30 pm Ever want to play the Longwood Organ? Register�for�your�five�minutes�of�fame�on The Longwood Organ. Registration begins with the season pre-sale on August 11. Guests are also welcome to join us in the audience for a morning of music.

Classical SeriesThe Crossing Saturday, April 118 pmThe Crossing, a professional chamber choir from Philadelphia, presents an evening focusing on the theme of light. Featuring works for cello and choir by John Tavener and Santa Ratniece, the performance will also include work by Eriks Esenvalds, whose memorable music mixes tuned water glasses with vocals.




Jazz Series Mark O’Connor’s Hot Swing Trio Friday, April 17 8 pm Grammy Award-winning violinist, composer,�and�fiddler�Mark�O’Connor�returns for his second performance of the year to showcase the wide variety of his expertise. O’Connor incorporates many musical styles and genres into a sound that is uniquely his own. “Hot Swing” celebrates acoustic string jazz in new and exciting ways.

Organ SeriesDaniel Roth Thursday, April 308 pmDaniel Roth is Titular Organist at St. Sulpice, the famous Paris church where his predecessors are Charles-Marie Widor, Marcel Dupré and Jean-Jacques Grunenwald. Renowned for his brilliant interpretations of organ literature and for his thrilling improvisations, Roth has concertized extensively across the globe earning the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, Officier des Arts et Letters, and he was named an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Organists.

Organ CompetitionDocumentaryAn exciting endeavor took place in our Gardens during the 2013 Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition. With the support of generous sponsors and the�vision�of�established�filmmaker�and producer Eric Schultz of PCk Media, a one-hour documentary was made chronicling the journey of the 10�finalists�and�the�orchestration�of�the International Organ Competition. The documentary tells the story of how the 10 competitors prepared for and then dealt with the grueling pressures of the competition. Viewers will see that the organ continues to be an important instrument, and that Longwood Gardens is propelling the art form forward while it helps develop the next generation of musicians.

This documentary captured the Competition onstage and behind-the-scenes as the drama unfolded leading up to the announcement of the winner of the Pierre S. du Pont First Prize of $40,000�and�a�contract�with�Phillip�Truckenbrod Concert Artists.
