A Message from Metro Women’s Center“Good Beats Evil” – I recently saw this slogan on a t-shirt and ordered one right away! For 25 years now, MWC has been “defending life, restoring families, and sheltering pregnant women” - using good to beat the evil of abortion on demand in our culture. In 1990, on our first day of operation, an abortion-determined woman walked in for a free pregnancy test. Imagine our joy as we witnessed her choose life for her baby instead and then had the privilege of praying with her to trust Christ!
Since then our little office in Crystal has seen more than 350 babies rescued from the evil of abortion, many individuals have responded to the good news of the gospel, and others have benefited from material and financial aid. It is humbling and overwhelming to be the recipient of our donors’ and volunteers’ generosity. We are mindful that good gifts of prayer, finances, time, and material aid always cost someone something.
The picture on the cover of this report shows 3 children. The little girl on the right is Amayah. I remember sitting with Amayah’s mother, cross-legged on her bed in her tiny apartment, pleading with her to “choose life and let God work out the details.” She chose life, and God took care of the details by helping her make an adoption plan for this beautiful child. Good beat evil!
We look forward with great anticipation to what the Lord has for MWC in the years ahead. Our Board is working through a strategic planning process that will help to guide the future of MWC. This is an exciting, yet daunting process, filled with big dreams and prayer. As you page through our annual report, we hope you see what we see: that defending, restoring, and sheltering lives is a worthwhile endeavor.
Last week, the first baby of this fiscal year was rescued from abortion, and Linda, a volunteer, prayed with another woman to trust Christ. After 25 years, some things never change. Good beats evil. Praise God!

Material and Financial AidUltrasound ReferralsMetro Women’s Center provides referrals for free educational ultrasounds for women who are undecided or abortion-determined about their pregnancies. An ultrasound helps the mother see her unborn child’s movements in her womb and hear her baby’s heartbeat. This is a life-affirming experience for an abortion-minded woman. Two women accessed free ultrasounds through the Center this year, and both chose life!
HOPE ProgramForty-three families enrolled in the HOPE Program, with 26 families actively participating in the program. These families received baby clothing, equipment, 10 pack & plays, 16 infant car seats, and more than 200 packages of diapers.
Financial AidThe Acacia Fund, MWC’s client assistance fund, distributed $3,779 in financial assistance for rent, car seats, and other client needs to 26 women. Through our partnerships with the Cradle of Hope Motherhood Fund and the Life Fund, 31 mothers received $16,106 in rental assistance.

Amazing Grace HomeNineteen pregnant women have found safe harborage at the Amazing Grace Home during the past three years. The women, from diverse ethnic, socio-economic, and religious backgrounds, keep us on our knees in prayer as we learn to deal with each one’s unique needs.
A former AGH resident recently reflected on her time at AGH, saying that even though she left the home before her daughter was born, she still gained a lot from her time there. She said, “I learned that what I want in a relationship is something permanent, not temporary. I’m working and I have my own apartment now. My daughter is doing well with her adoptive family; she’s adorable! I’m still trying to figure out the God thing. Thanks for helping me.”
Program advisor Kim Perfetto says, “It is so fun to watch the residents realize that there are other ways to solve problems. At AGH the ladies are exposed to new opportunities that provide hope for a fresh approach to life. When they start embracing the idea that God loves them and wants to actively work in their lives – that’s exciting!”
Sharing life with the residents 24/7 gives Keith and Meredith Henderson, house parents, unique opportunities to share special moments with them - moments like time spent in God’s Word after the evening meal when Keith leads devotions. Meredith says, “If we could see the ladies come to Christ, that would be a blessing. Our desire is that they would know God’s Word as the source of wisdom, strength, and hope in their lives.”
Another AGH resident shared with us that she was glad her social worker told her about Amazing Grace. “I don’t know what I would have done without it. You guys are the only stable people in my life. My son is now 6 months old and I am grateful that you are continuing to help me even after I moved out of AGH.”
Each new resident gives us an opportunity to hone our communication and compassion skills and to daily rely on the transforming power of the gospel to meet each need, for us and them, for the glory of God. Thank you to the many volunteers who come alongside our staff to help with meals, yardwork, and relief care.
