“FOR THE RESIDENTS, BY THE RESIDENTS”
Happy Labor Day September 2014
It feels like Fall ……….Somewhere
Fall will be here soon, although here in Florida it’s
hard to tell. You’re going to have to wait until about
the third week of October before the daily high
temperatures drop to the low 80s. The folks at the
Florida climate center say Fall happens when the
daily low temperatures drop below 60 degrees and
stay there. In the Tampa Bay area that doesn’t usually
Happen until you’re eyeing turkey for Thanksgiving.
You know its fall in Florida when------
You put away your light green bathing suit in
favor of your brown one.
You can roll down the windows in your car
and not run the risk of melting
You can plant things without them withering
immediately
The stores put out the winter holiday
decorations.
Everywhere you turn there is some sort of
festival celebrating art, food, wine, crafts,
history, cars, gourds etc.
Although we don’t get the rainbow of falling
Leaves that other states do, we do see a lot
of acorns and random other seedlings.
Hey, that’s less raking for us.
Labor Day
Labor Day officially ends summer, as those who work enjoy
one final fling.
Blessed are those who bear the daily burden, of whom few
savants speak or minstrels sing,
Returning to the shallows of September, days of ease give
way to hours certain,
A long routine that wends its way towards winter,
Yearning for the promises of spring.

for your generosity.
Next month on September 3rd our regular meetings will be
starting again in the Clubhouse at 9:30 am. Kathy Gallick and
Dixie Logoyda will be our hostesses for this month. We have lots
of things to discuss so please come and join us.

SOUTHFORK BINGO
Welcome back snowbirds and hope all of you come to our weekly bingo which is the highlight
for a lot of you on a weekly basis.
We have a committee who will get you started for the evening and we wish all of you the
best of luck and hope that you win at our many games. . That “cookie jar” is waiting for you
and there have many a good size winnings from it, so come on Wednesday at 515pm when
the doors open and try your luck at winning some of the prizes. Bingo starts at 6:30pm.
SNOWBIRDS
Here they come, ready or not! The snowbirds should be arriving in a steady stream starting in
September, October and November. License plates tell of their origins, but they’re all
coming to the land of palm tree-lined driveways and warm weather. Bring them on, I say!
Those of us who endure the hot, sticky summer months are finally starting to get out more.
We’re eating on the lanai, taking walks without being dripping wet and, well, here come the
traffic jams, the crowded doctor’s offices and stores, but wait---it also energizes our lifestyle
and our economy. Yes, come on down, all you snowbirds!
Clubs of all sorts exist in the winter but we still exist here with activities while you are away..
Friendships are big for snowbirds……..Put on a parade, a fun day or a fundraiser and you’ll
find snowbirds right in the middle of it all. Snowbirds who flock to Florida for the months of
September thru May, we love you and can’t wait for you to get back and get the community
rolling again with fun and laughter. Hurry, hurry so we can get the parties started!!!!

_ Favor to Ask!!!
Fall is fast approaching and I have a big favor to ask all of you who submit any
articles or are in charge of any type of card games or activities. We have a lot
of newer residents in the park over the last 12 months and I want to make sure
the dates and times are current on all events held each week and correctly
placed in the newsletter.
Please do not assume I know the changes or deletions of any game activity and
if there have been any changes please let me know by the 15th of each month.
On another issue the “classified page” with articles…….if you want them in
monthly let me know and any information given to me will only be listed for 1
month unless you tell me otherwise. Thanks, Phyllis
Water Exercises at the Clubhouse Pool
Please join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 4:00 p.m., weather permitting, for fun water aerobics in the pool. A great way to lose weight and have fun at the same time. Exercise makes you feel good about yourself and gives you a sense of accomplishment, and it is easier on your body to work out in the water. Please join us and bring a friend. Linda and Mike Miller ____________________________________________________________________________________
Scheduling of the Clubhouse
To schedule a function in the Clubhouse, you must reserve the hall with the Association
President first. In most case’s the scheduled Association events (such as bingo etc.) takes
priority over private party requests. Give at least 30 days to 2 months advance notice for any
scheduling and don’t assume the date is available.
The same thing goes for the Pavillion and the Pool area.
Call the President, Dot Cady for a form that must be filled out for all reservations. This is a
must, for just in cases, of damage etc. and the host/ party holding the event will be held
responsible and it must be noted if alcohol beverages will be used.
If any questions , please contact Dot Cady!
September is here! Weather should be getting cooler, less rain, and the
Snowbirds will be returning shortly! I NEED YOUR HELP and I would greatly
appreciate any resident in Southfork to notify me on the days and times of
their activities in the park so I can post them on the calendar in the correct manner. Any
information will be helpful so I can post it right and if I am not notified they will not be put on
the calendar in the clubhouse. Thank you, Craig Whitbeck.

WELCOME BACK
WOW!!!!! It is hard to believe that Labor Day weekend is nearing and summer is
quickly coming to an end. It seems like just last week that the season was just
beginning and the snowbirds were leaving.
I hope it has been a good and healthy summer season for all of you. It has been a
good summer here at Southfork and now, in just a few short weeks, most of the
snowbirds will be back and many of the activities, meetings etc will be starting again.
FIRST DAY OF AUTUMN!!!!!!
September 23rd is the first day of autumn but here in Florida it is like any other day of the year. Up
North you are already thinking of cold weather, snow and ice and we here in Florida can only go by the
news media on what is happening and not missing the cold but we sure do miss the fall colors.
So to all of us here in Florida, relax and enjoy with no worries about shovels or freezing cold!!!!
