FFIIFFAAWWoorrllddCCuupp22001144Most of the football fans were looking for the 12 June. On this date the first match of the 20th FIFA World

Cup started and now, 32 teams are playing in Brasil. During the championship there are many prostests

of people who are people unhappy with the amount of public money spent to enable the hosting of the

World Cup. Also some politicains critise the international football federation because of their

intransparence and corruption.Besides these political problems, you also find a lot of funny pictures,comments and videos about the world championship. But there are some interesting facts about the

World Cup 2014 as well:

Did you know that Brazil already hosted the World Cup in 1950? The team lost against Urugay in

the final match (2-1).

Did you know that this World Cup is th most expensive World cCup ever? The costs are around

14-16 billion Dollars and is more expensive than the two previous World Cups together!

Did you know that this is the first World Cup with

goal line technology? 14 cameras will be set up

around the rim of each host stadium. 7 of these

cameras will focus on 1 goal, where the other 7 will

focus on the opposite goal. They are connected to

a central mainframe computer which analyses each

shot on goal. When the match ball crosses the goal

line, the referee will feel a vibration and receive

a visual sign stating: Goal.

Did you know that during 2006 World Cup in 2006,

the referee display 16 yellow and four red cards in

the game between Portugal and the Netherlands?

It's more than during a poker game!

Di you know that statistically Zinedine Zidane,

former French football player, has the undesirable

title as the dirtiest player at Fifa World Cups? He

received four yellow and two red cards, including

the now infamous Materazzi head-butt.

Did you know that it's first time that a paraplegic teenager took the first World Cup kick? The first

symbolic kick will not be made by any known or famous person. The first kick of the World Cup

will be made by a paraplegic teenager in a mind-controlled exoskeleton suit.

These are just few of many facts about the World Cup 2014 that are also interesting for people who

prefer to do other things than to watch the matches. Even Czech Republic doesn't take part in that

championship, you have another favourite team!

Our friend Davide, an Italian volunteer in

Ivanice, organised a festival for volunteers and

friends from 6 to 8 June. Of course Lucie and

I were really excited cause a lot of friend of us

wanted to come to the event as well. Butsomething badly happens: on Thursday We went

out with a friend. On the way back to our home

I didn't see a stair therefore felt over and twisted

my foot. Next da it hurted a lot, so Anika brought

me to the hospital to check it. I had big luck

cause my foot wasn't broken and I just got crutches. So Lucie and I weren't sure if we can go to Davide's

event. But luckely my foot was going to get better next day, so we took the bus to go to the festival.

Of course I took also my crutches and when we arrived in Ivanice, everyone was really surprised about

my injury and asked what's happen. I felt like an attraction! So most of the time I just sat on a chair, but

a lot of people came to me to talk and to make me laugh. Furthermore I was really grateful that Lucie

helped me a lot. During the party she was my little social assistant and looked after me.

Anyway, during the day a lot of workshops and sport activities were offered. So the volunteers had the

chance to try slacklining, a practise in balance on a webbing tensionned between to points (e.g. trees).

At the beginning it is really hard to stand on the rope, but then

you'll addicted to that and you dont want to stopp. Besides it,

an Italian friend showed us the moves of an traiditonal dance

of North Italy. It was really funny to see the people who took

part in that workshop more or less successfully! After this

two volunteers made a concert: the played guitar and sang

songs from thir country, but also well-known songs. In the

night, Davide had a little surprise: he engaged a Czech DJ to

play good dance music. Of course I was upset that I couldn't

dance with my friends and sat on a chair, but two guys lift me

with the chair up and set me in the middle of the dancefloor.

It was great! The party ended in the morning when the sun

rose. We went to our tents and next day, we prepared a little

picknick for the people who stayed yet.

Thanks to this secial event, we had a great weekend despite

my injury and we had the chance to see a lot of friends for the

last time!
