M’Fay® Patterns

Our full size patterns are on durable white paper with detailed step-by-step instructions. Alteration instruc-tions, yardage guides, fabric suggestions and workroom hints are also included.

Some of these patterns have been designed with the professional drapery workroom in mind. Our goal is to offer you patterns that work, even for the most diffi cult styles that remain so much in demand.

Our “So Beautiful, Sew Easy” patterns are designed for the less experienced sewer. Patterns marked “Easy To Make” are not only easy but quick!

Our “Trendy Treatments” category has instructional DVD with each pattern (page 47).

All groups enable you to achieve a quality professional look.

Order 24 hours a day, seven days a week on our website at www.mfay.com

Use the handy order form on page 56 to fax, or call our offi ce.

New patterns are constantly being designed.

*On occasion we revise past patterns in order to keep you updated to new and better techniques. These revi-sions make the project easier, faster, and sometimes enable the pattern to cover a broader range as well as more design choices.

We want you to receive the latest editions with as little expense as we can manage. Therefore, if you return an older copy of the same pattern (no matter what condition) we will replace it with the latest copy for half the cur-rent price. If your older copy has never been used and is still in excellent condition, we will replace it for only the shipping cost. The revised date can be found on the cover page of the pattern instructions booklet, and with each pattern description in this catalog.

Return Policy: All products returned are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Shipping charges are non-refundable. Products must be returned within 45 days of purchase. All books, Manuals, Supplements, and Software are non-returnable.

Thank you, we appreciate your business.

PATTERN CATEGORIESWhat is the difference between a Professional Workroom pattern and a So Beautiful, Sew Easy pattern?

Sometimes (but not always) the sewing technique is more difficult. We expect the professional to be familiar with certain

procedures and terminology. Some of these patterns are not difficult for the experienced home sewer, however you may

not understand the terminology. If you have our Designer’s Digest and Workroom Manual Collection, you can look up the

meaning of these words and procedures.

9264 So Beautiful, Sew Easy Box Pleat Valance$27.00 Sheffi eld Valance

This valance has the simplicity of only two swag pleats, but their

deep angles make the valance look amply full. The construction

is simple and easy. Swag widths extend 14” to 18”. Not includ-

ing trim, the swag depth is 15” to 18”. The horn depth is 12” to

15”. Choose from the gathered return, which hangs the same

depth as the valance, or the jabot depth of 33” to 36”.

No alterations

This dust ruffle has flat areas that are separated

with groups of decorative pleats. Complete in-

structions and patterns will allow you to fit any

size bed and can accommodate a footboard.

This dust ruffle sews to a band of fabric which is

attached to the box springs with hook and loop

tape. The sham is very easy to make. It has a

double flange and is ideal for mixing two fabrics.

This Inverted Box Pleat Valance can be made with or

without jabots. The Charleston Valance has the same

flat sections, but instead of pleats it has the charm and

grace of “pipes”. The flat sections can be as small as

4” or as wide as you need. Everything is adjustable in

depth. Jabot is 40” deep.

This Sheffield valance (left picture) can be made with or without jabots. The jabot is

made separately and hangs 36” deep. Can be altered to about 10” deeper. The Box

Pleated valances can be scalloped or straight. All valance pieces can be any depth.

Page 26: 2013webcatalog

The flat valance hangs from the rod with rings. It drapes long at one

side with a deep tapered pleat. The other end attaches to the top of

the pole with the softness of three shallow pleats. The separate ro-

sette placed at the top gives the appearance that the valance is tied to

the pole. The short jabot is made and attached separately to the back

of the pole, behind the valance pleats. Valance can be no smaller

than 32” or as wide as you want. Depth is 10” to 30” (from top of pole

at center of valance). Long tapered pleat is twice as deep as valance.

This valance can also be board mounted.

No Drapery Instructions.

This swag design has three pleats at the bottom. The top por-

tion is gathered to create a fan shape. The top and bottom

pieces are cut separately and then sewn together. This allows

you to use contrasting fabrics, if you like. The seam that joins

them will not show. The swag widths extend 32” to 54”. The

swag depth is 20”. The jabot hangs 46” deep. Bow pattern is

included. The tail is 16” deep.

Sophia Valance So Beautiful, Sew Easy 9294$27.00

Brooklyn Valance So Beautiful, Sew Easy 9295$27.00

Window #310 is a popular design from the “M’Fay Designer’s Digest”. These designs

were created by mixing various patterns, and/or by changing an existing pattern. The

valance design is actually two valances made the same depth, installed on separate

boards. The top valance is installed 3” higher than the one underneath. The top valance

also has a projection 1 1/2” deeper. This gives depth between the two valances. This is

a soft, flat valance with pleats that “kick out” at the corners. The center of the board juts

outward 4”, displaying the majestic valance beautifully. The board pattern and instruc-

tions are also included. The valance, as is, has a 20” deep point and 12” short point,

and can be altered for any depth. There are complete instructions for a Straight Roman

Shade. Instructions for the shade feature the Sure Shades™ lift system with roller tube

and lift bands by www.rowleycompany.com.

*Revised 2010

This soft valance consists of a center section, two horns, and two side

sections. All pieces sew together to create one valance before attaching

to the mount board. The valance depth is 18” at the center. The horn is

12 1/2” at the shortest point. The valance sides are about 49 1/2” deep.

Depth alterations are included, but all pieces must alter the same amount.

The pattern will fit windows 56” to 66” or wider. It is not recommended for

more narrow windows. The wide sides would close it up too much, and

the center scallop section would have to be too small in scale. The center

section can be 14” to 24” wide. You can alter it to be wider, or you can use

more than one, with horns in between. The side section finishes 21” wide

(per side) on front of the board.

There are a variety of width sizes for the valance sections. There is also a 6” wide accent piece that is optional to use between

the valance sections. Also included, is a decorative tail piece that is optional to use at each end. Each valance sections is made

as a flat piece (contrast lined). When placed over a pole, the back of the valance can hang 19” or up to 21” deep at the deepest

point. Alteration instructions are included to make the valance any depth.

This valance has a center section with a side section,

horn, and jabot on each side (or an alternative simple

return). The finished valance is attached to 5 decora-

tive holdbacks. If you choose, you can repeat as many

center sections as you wish, there is an additional

center pleat pattern to sew between them. The center

section comes in sizes 18”, 22”, 26”, and 30”. Instruc-

tions to alter the width of the center section patterns

are given. The side section comes in sizes 9” and 12”.

The depth of the valance can be altered, but all pieces

have to be altered to fit each other.

Alteration instructions are included to make the valance

section wider, and deeper. You cannot take away or

add additional sections. You can alter to fit other arch

sizes, but we don’t recommend going smaller than 54”

wide, because the flat sections would have to be too

small to be attractive. Alterations could be considered

difficult for inexperienced people. The jabot pattern is made and attached separately. It has no return.

There is a return on the valance. For installation 6

holdbacks are needed. The valance will tie (or use an

elastic loop) to the holdbacks.

The valance consists of three separate flat sections. Each sec-

tion has an optional cuff that is sewn to the top and flips over

to expose the contrast lining. The decorative tails are also op-

tional. The decorative tails hang about 19” and 24” deep. They

have no return. For installation, 4 holdbacks are needed. The

valance will tie (or use an elastic loop) to the holdbacks. It is

not recommended that you use this pattern for sizes smaller

than 46” because the side sections will hang at an inappropri-

ate angle. You cannot add or take away sections on the arched

window.

There are a variety of width sizes for the valance sections. There is also a 6” wide accent piece that is optional to use between the

valance sections. Also included, is a decorative tail piece that is optional to use at each end. Each valance section is made as a

flat piece (contrast lined). When placed over a pole, the back of the valance can hang 19” or up to 21” deep at the deepest point.

How deep the valance hangs will affect how much contrast lining is showing.

The 6” accent piece finishes at 50” deep. This allows it to hang 28” in back and 22” in front. This piece can be altered to any depth.

Alteration instructions are included to make all pieces any depth.

The center section can be repeated, as many times as necessary. The side

sections drop down 8”. A pleat is sewn between all sections. The jabot is made

and attached separately.

This design is the same as Window #357 in the M’Fay Designer’s Digest.

All valance sections can be 12” or up to 22” wide. THe jabot hangs 29” deep.

All pattern pieces can be altered in depth.

This design is the same as Window #223 in the M’Fay Designer’s

Digest.

This design is constructed by sewing the swag sections together.

Separate tails are placed over the seams. Separate jabots overlap

the swags and cover the mount board ends. A rosette pattern is

included. Rosettes can be placed on top of the tails.

Each swag section can be 15” or up to 24” wide. The swag depth

can be 16” or up to 18” deep. Swag alterations are not included.

The tail is 16” deep and 4” wide at the board line. The jabot hangs

about 38” deep and is 4 1/2” wide at the board line. Alterations

(for depth of jabot) are included but can be difficult.

Each valance section is made as a flat piece (contrast lined). When placed over the pole, the back of the valance can hang 18”

or up to 20” deep at the deepest point. The deeper the back of the valance hangs, the shorter the front of the valance will be and

more contrast lining will show. The valance sections range from 14” to 22” wide. Alteration instructions are included. A tail can be

placed at each end of the valance sections. The tail is 5” wide and about 24” deep from the top of the pole. It does not have a return.

“La Bella Principessa” (the beautiful princess) describes this va-

lance. The scallop sections can be 12” to 20” wide by 16” deep.

Use as many (or as few) as your window will need. The pleats

have five folds at the top and hang 15” deep). The jabot hangs

about 36” deep and sews to the valance. Alterations for the va-

lance and jabot depth are included.

A choice of three different valance designs, using inverted

pleats. Depth alterations will need to be done straight across at

the top. No other alterations are given. Fabric Suggestions: Use

light to medium weight fabrics that are not too stiff. Add interlin-

ing to light weight fabrics. Stripes and plaids work well. Pleats

are made from a contrast fabric, they should be self lined (some

areas will show). View A side section should be self or contrast

lined. Drapery lining can be used for the center section. How-

ever, lining may tend to show at the bottom edge if a trim or cord

is not used.

Each item is made and attached to the board separately. Each piece will

overlap each other 2”. The jabot finishes 9” wide (on the “face” of the

side section can be 12” or up to 20” wide x 20” deep. The scallop section

can be 12” or up to 20” wide x 16” deep.

This simple, elegant valance has a scant amount of fullness in the swag areas. The valance “kicks out” where it attaches to the

medallion, forming a “horn” effect. The tail is cut on a curve and hangs very full. The width of the swag areas can be most anything

you want. The valance finishes about 16” deep. The valance tail will finish about 28” deep. Alteration instructions are included for

the valance depth.

PC-1 Portfolio Collection$199.95For many years, designers have asked that we provide a book that gives them all

of the same designs and cover sheets that are in our popular “Designer’s Digest &

Workroom Manual”, but without the workroom instructions.

This collection contains 575 pages, with over 550 designs. A CD is also included.

PART 1 contains photographs or sketches of every pattern package offered by

M’Fay Patterns at the time this book went to press. Complete yardage requirements

are on the back of these pages. The three ring notebook will enable you to remove

pages as needed, to show your client or to have convenient at your desk.

The design sketches in PART 2 may be achieved by mixing various patterns to-

gether. Some of the designs don’t need patterns. Information on the back of these

pages will direct you as to which patterns (if any) are involved. In many cases it

gives information the designer needs to know. When the words “Special instructions

apply”, those instructions are more detailed and are found in the “Designer’s Digest

and Workroom Manual”.

PART 3 is general information that may help the designer to plan, measure, and communicate with the workroom.

Additions will be published every 18 to 24 months, which will include the latest window treatment designs as well as more

PART 3 information. Future additions are not included in the price of this book.
