What is YWSE? YWSE is a values-based learning community to support the next generation

of women change-makers.

YWSE defines social entrepreneurs as practical visionaries who apply entrepreneurial skills of innovation, creativity, ambition, and commitment to solving social and environmental problems.

Founding Vision: YWSE was founded in 1999 by Sara Ellis Conant and Niko Everett to inspire, affirm, and propel women who wanted careers with both financial success and significant social impact.

Mission: To propel women to lead social innovation globally!

•  We act for the good of the whole (including ourselves, the Board, YWSE’s membership and the world).

•  Desire and passion lead our decisions and roles.

•  We value and enjoy the process as well as the product. We intend our YWSE experience to serve us every step of the way.

•  We practice full authenticity and honesty with one another and ourselves.

•  We listen deeply. •  We are accountable and responsible for

our contributions, strengths and weaknesses as individuals.

•  We act with integrity aligning this work with our deepest values.

•  We practice intimacy, sisterhood and respect to stay connected and effective as a team.

•  We trust in one another and ourselves, and in the synergy of opportunities and challenges that arise for us as an organization.

•  We believe in the abundance of resources, time and opportunities.

Planning YWSE events: Learning through connection and community

1.  Choose meeting topics that are

interesting to you

2.  Search your own network for

inspirational speakers…

3.  Ask YWSE members to speak at

community forums

4.  Invite others that have an inspiring

story/venture. They won’t regret

speaking to our network!

5.  Plan your calendar early. Events

are a great way to recruit

members.

Elements of every YWSE meeting:

•  Personal check-in

•  Project/goal check-in

•  Set personal goals or action

items to complete before the

next meeting

•  Acknowledge and celebrate

personal successes

What phase is my chapter in?

Emerging, Established, or Robust?

•  Emerging chapters are new and/or need support

•  Established chapters are active and offer basic services like a newsletter

and quarterly/monthly events

•  Robust chapters offer additional services like retreats or incubators

Each chapter's leaders work with YWSE Central leadership to determine their

status and the right timing for recruiting paid members and offering event

discounts for paid members.
