    The Greater Des Moines Partnership is the regional economic and community development organizationserving Central Iowa. Supported by more than 300 public and private investors, the Partnership serves sixcounties through regional economic development, workforce development, small business development,and downtown development. Attractionssuch as the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Garden, Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden, BlankPark Zoo, Des Moines Art Center, Hoyt Sherman Place, Living History Farms, and the Science Center of

    Iowa are well known throughout the state and beyond.

    FINANCIAL SERVICESFinancial Services play a key role in the Greater Des Moines economy. With 16 percent of the regions workforce involved inthis business sector, Greater Des Moines has the highest concentration of employment in financial services in the UnitedStates.

    Many prominent companies such as Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, The Principal Financial Group, Wellmark, Nationwide/Allied Insurance, Aviva USA, FBL Financial Group, EMC Insurance Companies, GuideOne Insurance, and ING USA Annuity

    BIOSCIENCESR&D expansions at Kemin, Monsanto, and DuPont Pioneer are notable indicatorsof the growth occurring in the Greater Des Moines biosciences sector.

    DuPont Pioneer is investing $50million for a new 180,000-square-

    foot office space and lab building and39,000-square-foot of greenhouse.

    Kemin Industries has begun a five-year$30 million expansion plan adding six

    new manufacturing facilities, three newresearch facilities, and a new corporateheadquarters building in southeast DesMoines.

    Eurofins Scientific relocated itsU.S. headquarters from Memphisto Des Moines in 2006 and in 2009completed a $10.8 million expansioninto a 60,000-square-foot facilitynear the airport.

    The Lauridsen Group Inc. (LGI),which develops functional proteins,is investing $10 million in a

    21,000-square-foot research anddevelopment building in Ankeny.

    INFORMATION TECHNOLOGYA new Microsoft Corporation data center and Silicon Sixth have led the headlines for thedevelopments occurring in the information technology business sector.

    Many other software development and information technology companies, such asGCommerce, Buccaneer a General Dynamics Company, and Alliance Technologies, havefound Greater Des Moines to be a strategic and cost-effective location for their operations.

    Microsoft Corporation is investing$677 million to expand its datacenter in West Des Moines.

    Dice Holdings Inc., a leading provider of

    specialized career websites, has builta new 45,000-square-foot operationscenter in Urbandale.

    Facebook announced an investment of $300 million for their new data center.The first phase of the project will result in a 476,000-square-foot space with aprojected finish date of winter 2014-15.

    Textura, a leading provider of on-demand business collaboration

    software to the commercialconstruction industry has added morethan 100 jobs to its West Des Moinesoffice.

    John Deere Intelligent Solutions Grouphas added more than 150 workers toits agile software development teamover the last three years.

    ADVANCED MANUFACTURINGThe manufacturing sector in Greater Des Moines is reinvesting in localoperations and growing to meet the demands of the marketplace.

    John Deere Des Moines Works recentlyconstructed a 300,000-square-foot

    production facility. Over the past twoyears, the company has added 500new jobs at their facility.

    Bridgestone/Firestone has investedover $150 million in their Greater Des

    Moines agricultural tire manufacturingoperation in the past three years andhas created a net of 260 new jobs. TheGreater Des Moines operation is theworlds largest production facility foragricultural and truck tires.

    AccuMold, a micro-mold toolingand manufacturing company, hasexpanded their production facility by40,000-square-feet.

    Curwood/Bemis recently announced acapital investment of $24.3 million fornew equipment in their local operation.The company is expected to add 16 jobswith this expansion.

    Putco, an automotive accessories manufacturer, has builta new 126,000-square-foot. plant in unincorporated PolkCounty.

    LOGISTICSWith excellent access to Interstates 80 and 35, Greater Des Moines has beenrecognized as a prime location for logistics in warehouse and distribution facilities.Recent activity in this business sector has resulted in the construction of over onemillion square feet.

    The Toro Company has contructed anew 450,000-square-foot distribution

    center in Ankeny.

    Interstate Battery purchased a345,000-square-foot facility inUrbandale to serve as a regionaldistribution center. The company isinvesting $10.8 million and creating215 jobs.

    FedEx Ground has constructed a186,000-square-foot distribution centerin Grimes.

    Capital City Fruits recentlyconstructed a 82,000-square-footwarehouse in Norwalk.
