If you study the Calyna cow family, you’ll notice the dam and grand dam reappear in many of these good red pedigrees. 45J and 57F have both made substantial contributions to our red Simmental program. Red Ridge was a feature bull from 2011’s offering selling to Kenner Simmentals of Leads ND and Bouchard Livestock. He was the high selling red bull at $30,000. This bull is a true performance producer. We think a red Tangle Ridge son of this magnitude with all the bells and whistles is such a unique breeding component. This is the fourth set of bulls off Dreaming Red. Given 56K’s past resume, making the move to get Dreaming Red back from Westman’s at spring time was a great decision. He has been a “go to” red clean up bull and we have had great success using him on heifers. Dreaming Red progeny are super dark in color, hairy, really sound in motion and have tons of mass and muscle. Some of the best young red females in our herd are Dreaming Red daughters and they’ll continue to make their own legacy. A highlight Dreaming Red female was sold in the fall of 2011 as a bred heifer to Meadow Acres for $25,000. She then went on to sell the record setting red Simmental bull that following year for $82,000 to Labatte Simmentals and company.

Hot Iron was the second high selling red bull in 2011 selling to Labatte Simmentals, Soderglen Ranching and Oberle Farms for $22,500. Hot Iron has bred just the way he appears, transmitting heavy muscle, extreme depth of quarter, flank and rib. His heavy milking black Bravado dam has accomplished much in a short time, raising last fall’s high selling Entourage heifer calf to Ty Zaft. There are 4 Hot Iron calves for sale this spring and we are very excited about the potential this young herd sire possesses.
