A passion for excellence.

Whether it’s a watch, a suit, a dress, a smartphone or an automobile, design is what grabs your attention and distinguishes one brand from another.

Since 2006, when celebrated European automotive designer Peter Schreyer joined Kia as its Chief Design Officer, the look of Kia has taken on a whole new, dynamic dimension that has garnered over 30 design awards in competitions around the world. Honoured by Automobile Magazine with its prestigious “2012 Man of the Year” award, Schreyer says, “A car is a dynamic object. And I think it needs to show that it is a dynamically moving object.”

As a crossover, Sorento is the definition of versatility. With comfortable seating and intelligently designed storage spaces, it’s perfect for running errands around town. When you’re lucky enough to get away for the weekend, Sorento has the flexibility to answer the call. Both the second-row and available third-row seats quickly and conveniently fold down to provide up to 2,052 litres (72.5 cu. ft.) of carpeted cargo space. An available power tilt-and-slide panoramic sunroof extends along the length of the roof to fill the interior with sunshine.

THiRd-ROW SEaTS. The available third-row seats easily fold down to open up more space when you need it and provide comfortable, two-passenger seating when you have more people to accommodate.

EVERYTHING FITS. The split-folding rear seating gives you plenty of passenger- and cargo-carrying flexibility as well as the capacity to load long or oversized items easily inside the vehicle.

Room for plenty of extras. Including sunshine.

PANORAMIC SUNROOF. Sorento’s available panoramic sunroof features a power tilt-and-slide front panel and fixed rear glass, letting you enjoy more natural light and the pleasure of open-air driving.

CONCEALED STORAGE . An available storage compartment under the floor helps you manage cargo-area clutter – and hide valuables safely out of sight when your Sorento is unattended.

All Sorento models are equipped with steering wheel-mounted switches for the audio and cruise control systems, Bluetooth® 2 hands-free cell phone connectivity, available voice-activated navigation system7 and easy-to-read instruments and gauges to help ensure your attention stays focused on driving, while an available back-up warning system alerts you to unseen objects that may be in your way when backing up.6

Proof that technology is your friend.

H E a T E d f R O n T SEaTS. All Sorento models are equipped with heated front seat s t o p rov i d e ultimate comfort for cold Canadian winters.

Some people take comfort in choosing a crossover that appeals to their rational side. Others depend on their senses – sight, sound, feel – to guide them. It’s a struggle, to be sure, but not with Sorento.

Sorento is available with either of two refined engines – a fuel-efficient, 2.4-litre gasoline direct injection (GDI), four-cylinder rated at 191 horsepower and a power-rich, 3.5-litre V6 that puts 276 horsepower at your command. Both come with a standard 6-speed Steptronic automatic transmission for smooth performance and sporty, manual shifting capability and a chassis that delivers the kind of confident driving dynamics that are sure to please your mind and senses.

Power and dynamics. They’re all yours.

fUEL EfficiEncYBoth Sorento engines feature double overhead cams and four-valves-per-cylinder architecture along with dual-cam variable valve timing (CVVT) that automatically adjusts valve timing for increased power and improved fuel efficiency.

TOWinG POWERA properly equipped Sorento, with V6 engine, has a maximum trailer towing capacity of 1,588 kg(3,500 lb.) – perfect for Class II boat, snowmobile/motorcycle and camper trailers.

PREciSE HandLinG. SmOOTH RidEIndependent MacPherson-strutfront-suspension system and independent multilink rear suspension deliver precise handling. All models feature Dynamic Dampers – key contributors to Sorento’s smooth, controlled ride.

aLL-WHEEL-dRiVE cOnfidEncEAll Sorento models are available with a dynamic all-wheel drive system. It automatically monitors road conditions and redistributes engine power to the wheel (or wheels) that have the best available traction at that precise moment. The result is sure-footed performance, even in changing road conditions.

aiRBaG & SEaT-BELT SEnSORS. Special onboard sensors measure the severity of a crash impact and determine whether the front seat occupants are wearing their seat belts. Within milliseconds, this information is used to determine and trigger an optimal level of airbag inflation.11

Sorento is engineered to protect you and your family from the dangers of the road. It starts with a rigid body structure that makes extensive use of high-tensile steel to help direct crash energy away from the cabin. Inside, it comes equipped with standard front and side-impact airbags, 1st and 2nd row side curtain airbags with rollover protection and active anti-whiplash front headrests.11

Active safety features – the kind that can help you avoid crash situations – are also a key part of the Sorento’s safety package. These include a standard anti-lock braking (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC) and a traction control system (TCS).

Prepare for the unexpected.

ELEcTROnic STaBiLiTY cOnTROLElectronic Stability Control (ESC) monitors Sorento’s response to your throttle, brake and steering inputs in tight corners and evasive-manoeuvre situations. If and when input and response are out of synch, ESC briefly takes over to restore stability through precise brake andengine-control interventions.

BRaKE aSSiSTWhen the Brake Assist System (BAS) detects an emergency braking situation it instantly applies full braking force, faster than you might be applying it, to help shorten overall stopping distance.

TRacTiOn cOnTROLSorento’s standard Traction Control System (TCS) senses wheel spin during acceleration and uses engine-torque reduction and pulsed braking to slow the spinning wheel(s) and transfer torque to the wheels that have the most traction.

ELEcTROnic BRaKEfORcEdiSTRiBUTiOnElectronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) adjusts front-to-rear brake pressure to compensate for varying passenger/cargo loads and deliver more confident braking performance.

HiLL-STaRT aSSiST cOnTROLTo help keep you from rolling backward when starting off on a steep hill, Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC) automatically maintains braking pressure for up to two seconds after you take your foot off the brake pedal – enough time for engine power to move you forward.

fROnT acTiVE HEadRESTSIn the event of certain rear collisions, Sorento’s active front headrests move forward, helping to reduce the likelihood of whiplash injuries.

dOWnHiLL BRaKE cOnTROLWhen descending a steep slope, the Downhill Brake Control (DBC) system automatically maintains a steady 8 km/h forward speed without the need for you to step on the brake pedal.

REinfORcEd BOdY STRUcTURESorento’s side doors are reinforced with steel beams to help absorb impact energy and deflect it away from passengers. The A and B pillars (front and middle support pillars) are also reinforced to help strengthen the body structure.

LaTcH SYSTEmSorento comes equipped with an industry-standard LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethersfor Children) safety system that makes it easier to securely install a compatible child safety seat in any of the three second-row seating positions.
