Blood Donation Camp

PersonalityDevelopmentProgram

The Personality Development Program for our students aims to

produce competent, disciplined and virtuous graduates who

possess a holistic and towering personality. For this purpose, a 30

Hours duration Personality Development Program (PDP) was

conducted for our Management and Mass Communication

students by trainers from Global Voice which is a vibrant training

and consulting organization having a tie-up with Credenz Systems,

USA for offering world-class training and professional programs in

India. Participation of the students in such exercises is encouraged,

with the objective of cultivating confidence. Facility of fully equipped

language lab under the guidance and supervision of experienced

faculty members is also made available for developing competence

in written as well as spoken English.

Data Analysis is an important branch in Management Sciences and, is very vital today for all

professionals, particularly for researchers and academicians. Keeping this in

mind the University organized a FDP on Multivariate Data Analysis for

Management Decisions during 22-23 February 2013. It aimed at improving

understanding of composite concepts of research, statistical models and

applications of latest software that should enhance capacity and confidence

of researchers. Our technical expert, Prof. Saurabh Aggarwal from HBIT,

Kanpur emphasized on broad range of techniques for data analysis and to

foster multi-disciplinary research in these areas and also provided hands-on

training on SPSS software. He also emphasized on Conjoint Analysis, Factor

Analysis, Cluster Analysis, etc.

Blood Donation Camp was organized in

collaboration with IMA Blood Bank and

Mahant Inderesh Hospital during 8-9

March 2013. A large number of students

and staff members voluntarily came

forward to donate blood.

“There is no such thing as Sportsmanship” the famous Quote by Terrell Davis was depicted by every student

in their participation in the Annual Sports Fest 2013. The most phenomenal event of the Quarter was the

three day Sports Fest conducted during 28 February-2 March 2013. It was conducted in full fervor with the

coordination of the faculty and zest among the students. With events spanning the entire spectrum of sports,

ranging from Cricket to Carom, the whole environment was full of the spirit of competitiveness with true

sportsmanship shown by our students. Apart from the games like Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis &

Badminton students also enjoyed the fun games like Tug of War and Kho-Kho. Chess and Carom competition led the

spirit of sports fest even within the four walls. Everyone enjoyed the stupendous performance in athletics by various teams was worth

appreciation. The cricket match between the teaching and non-teaching staff was an entertainer for all where the teaching staff stood

the winner. In the closing ceremony Dr. Pawan K Aggarwal, Director IMS along with the faculty members appreciated the enthusiasm of

the participants. The Chairman’s Running Trophy was lifted by UG Management Department (BBA) and runners-up were the PG

Management Department (MBA/MIB/PGDM).

CMAT Exam, an AICTE approved competitive entrance exam for the B-

schools, was successfully conducted at our campus during 21-25

February. Approximately 500 students appeared for the test from

across the state.

26thof January 1950 was the day when India got its own constitution and became the

biggest democratic nation of the world. Since then, this day is celebrated as the

Republic Day of India. The 64th Republic Day was celebrated enthusiastically by the

Staff Members and the students at our Campus, where unfurling of the national flag

by honorable Director Dr. Pawan K. Aggarwal with the echo of National Anthem made

every individual feel proud on this occasion. The event was followed by inspirational

speeches by the Director and Dean Academics whereas students performed to pay

their tribute to Mother India. The patriotic songs touched the hearts of one and all, and

filled the environment with patriotism. The thoughts expressed in various art forms

highlighted the true meaning of independence and filled us with the spirit of respect

for all the lives that were sacrificed for the freedom of our country.

IMS Unison University and Birmingham Law School, University of Birmingham

signed an MOU to promote Student Exchange, Faculty Exchange and Research

Collaborations between the two Universities. The MOU was signed on behalf of

Birmingham Law School by Prof. Andrew Sanders, Head, Birmingham Law

School, University of Birmingham and on behalf of IMS Unison University by Mr.

Amit Agarwal, Secretary, IMS Society. The MOU aims at enhancing the ways

and means to strengthen the education partnership. Speaking at the

occasion, Prof. Andrew Sanders said that this association will facilitate

academic research, student/faculty exchange and other collaborative

programs between the two institutions. Secretary, IMS Society, Mr. Amit

Agarwal stated that IMS Unison University shall always remain at the forefront

to collaborate with frontline institutions around the world to achieve excellence

in the field of research, knowledge exchange and development. Prof. Gurdip

Singh, Prof. & Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi was another eminent

academician present at the occasion. He considered the signing of MOU

between IMS Unison University & Birmingham Law School an important

milestone which would provide global exposure to the students and faculty

members and promote training and research & consultancy assignments

between the two institutions.

The Inter College Cultural Fest

The mega cultural festival – ‘LAMHE 2013’ was celebrated with high level of energy,

enthusiasm and oomph on 28 and 29 March 2013 at the IMS Campus. The event was

inaugurated by the guest of honour, Dr. D.S. Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, Uttarakhand

Technical University. He lighted the lamp and addressed the gathering which was followed

by a beautiful performance of Saraswati Arpan to pay regards to the almighty. The two days

inter-college fest had more than ten colleges participating, with almost six hundred

students representing their institutions and competing in various events in a healthy

competitive spirit. Doon University, TMU Moradabad, DIT Dehradun, TULA Institute

Dehradun are some of the colleges who showed overwhelming participation.

The first day witnessed much awaited events like Solo Singing, Duet Singing, Instrumental,

Collage, Rangoli, Solo Dance, Group Dance, Laughter Show and other fun-filled events. The

day concluded with a rocking performance by Ms. Sheena Chawla (Indian Idol Finalist) and a

marvelous Fashion Show which kept the crowd enthralled with its beauty and brilliance.

The second day started with Academic events all across the four Schools of Management,

Law, Mass Communication and Information Technology where students from various

colleges and universities demonstrated their domain specific skills. It involved various Quiz,

Debate, Extempore and many more sphere related activities.

The air seemed electrified with vigor and zest for the two days span of this festival. On the

concluding day the cultural extravaganza reached dizzying heights with the sparkling

performance by the MTV fame band ASTITVA.

Keeping up with the trend, Navaratras were revered by the

Mata ki Chowki organized by the initiative of our PGDM &

MBA students. Mata Ki Chowki is one of the events which

is organized during the Navratras to seek the blessings

of almighty for the students, staff and all its

stakeholders. The faculty as well as the students

thoroughly enjoyed the religious Bhajans, religious acts

and performances offered to the God and Goddesses for

prosperity of all.

Mr. Alok Ulfat and the Director Rupessh Tillu from Avikal

Theatre Company. The play on the theme “Death of Macbeth”

and the performances of Popo and Froking kept the students

glued. Popo is a non-verbal performance and touches

everyone's heart with its simple sensibility and moments of joy.

The continuous laughter, joyful cheering and clapping revealed

the incredible quality of the performances.

Value Addition ProgramsWith the aim to make our students stand out in the highly competitive IT world, the university

organizes value addition programs for its students to, gear up to face the competition in the

corporate world. The program is incorporated in the curriculum in such a manner that the

students are able to comprehend the concepts and practice on the relevant software in their

fields. The Swift Program with focus on MS office was delivered by NIIT for our budding

professionals in Management and Law. ORACLE University joint certificate programme on.Net

was conducted for our IT students to polish their skills in New Technologies.

The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC

MACAY) is a voluntary youth movement which promotes Indian classical music, Indian

classical dance and other aspects of Indian culture. It seeks to foster the exchange of

traditional Indian values and to generate awareness of the cultural traditions and

heritage of India. In collaboration with SPIC MACAY an oddissi dance performance by the

acclaimed dancer Ms. Sharon Lowen was organized in the campus on 11 February 2013

for our students. She has finesse in three dance forms, namely,

Odissi, Manipuri and Chhau. Beginning her performance with an

invocation to Ganapati, the artists involved the students while

explaining various hand movements. The soft and graceful

movements were mesmerizing and later some students were

encouraged to join in and learn some steps. For keeping the Indian

culture and values alive among the young generation the University

encourages such performances by the renowned artists from

SPICMACAY which bring them closer to the Indian tradition &

Culture.
