PREMIUM STANDARD FEATURES

Every Terrain comes with an array of features that may be optional or unavailable on competitive vehicles, including a Rear Vision Camera system, a Multi-Flex® sliding rear seat and a Colour Touch Radio with a uSB port and a 178 mm (7 in.) touch-screen display.

Our goal with GMC Terrain was to give it more ideas per square inch. So we used big, out-of-the-box thinking to create a compact crossover with real GMC performance, technology and versatility. It starts with efficient, powerful four-cylinder and available V6 engines. A fuel-saving six-speed automatic transmission. A choice of Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) or All-Wheel Drive (AWD) powertrains. 5 6 SECOND-ROW MULTI-FLEX® SySTEMTo help maximize head and leg room, Terrain offers the innovative and easy-to-use Multi-Flex® rear seat. The second-row seatback is split 60/40 and can recline for your comfort or fold down on either side (or both) for loading large objects. The seat design also allows you to slide the second row back nearly 200 mm (7.9 in.). The result is a best-in-class rear legroom of 1013 mm (39.9 in.).**

2 CONSOLE & CENTRE STACk The console, cupholders and centre stack are bathed in warm red ambient lighting that’s inviting to your eyes at night. A storage well deep enough to stash a laptop contains an auxiliary 12-volt power port and a uSB port† to charge portable electronics and connect your iPod® or MP3 player to your Terrain’s audio system.

3 STORAGE FEATURESTerrain makes it easy to get organized. The interior features an oversize glovebox, a console deep enough for a laptop, a smaller compartment under the centre armrest and two-tier storage in the door panels.

4 PROGRAMMABLE POWER LIFTGATE Terrain SLT-2 and Denali models come standard with a programmable power liftgate. It opens and closes with the touch of a button to the height you program.

LOW STEP-IN HEIGHTTerrain is designed for convenient access and entry. While the upper door opening is set high for clearance, the floor is at a lower, car-like height, making it easy for passengers of all sizes to enter and exit. And the rocker panels are integrated with the door, creating a larger opening that’s protected from splashes, dirt or winter road salt. HEATED FRONT SEATSTo help warm you up quickly when it ’s cold, available heated seats on both cloth and leather-trimmed models can be activated when you use the available remote start. Both the cushions and seatbacks have heating elements, which spread the warmth evenly for added comfort.

LOW LIFT-OVER HEIGHTTerrain’s load floor is set at a height that helps reduce back and shoulder strain when moving large or heavy items in and out. And with the second-row seats folded down, Terrain opens up 1809 L (63.9 cu. ft.) of available cargo space.

12 REMOTE VEHICLE START Warm up your Terrain for up to 10 minutes without leaving the house. This available feature is capable of starting your vehicle from up to 60 metres (195 ft.) away, so your Terrain will begin warming to your preset temperature. Based on exterior temperature, uplevel models can begin heating or cooling your Terrain, turn on your heated seat and activate your rear defroster.

REMOTE kEyLESS ENTRyOne touch is all it takes to lock or unlock your Terrain or to flash its lights and sound its horn. It works at a range of up to 60 metres (195 ft.) to unlock your doors for fast entry. The convenient key fob also controls the available programmable power liftgate.

UNIVERSAL HOME REMOTE Open your garage without leaving your locked vehicle. This available remote can be easily programmed to operate the majority of garage-door-opening systems. Because it operates from Terrain’s electrical system, it will never need batteries.

13 VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT)Standard in both Terrain engines, this technology gives you the power of a high-performance engine with the low-speed response you need for situations such as trailering or climbing steep inclines. VVT constantly monitors and changes when the valves open and close to give you near-peak levels of torque across the entire range of engine speeds.

15 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC WITH OVERDRIVEFor brisk acceleration from a stop and reduced highway rpm, this advanced transmission has a wide ratio spread. That means first gear is numerically “high” to let the engine rev quickly into its power band, while sixth gear is an overdrive ratio that is numerically “low” to reduce engine rpm, saving fuel, reducing wear and minimizing engine noise.

FUEL-SAVING MODE

To help you save fuel, Terrain’s 2.4L 4-cylinder powertrain includes an ECO-Mode that, when selected, delivers slightly better fuel efficiency by holding gears longer.

E85 FLEXFUEL CAPABILITy

To give you more choices at the pump, the Terrain 3.6L V6 engine is capable of using E85 ethanol fuel. This advanced biofuel is a mixture of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent unleaded regular gasoline.

OIL LIFE MONITOR

For long life and durability, changing your engine oil at the right time is essential. GMC engineered the mystery out of this essential service with the Oil Life Monitor. It calculates how much life your oil has left, based on when and how you drive. Then it updates you with an alert on your Driver Information Centre.

14 DIRECT INJECTIONFor precise fuel distribution and fast, efficient combustion, both Terrain engines feature Direct Injection technology. Simply put, this system combines air and fuel closer to the point where the mixture ignites inside the engine—in the combustion chamber. By injecting fuel at over 2000 psi, the air and fuel mix more completely. This helps the charge burn fast for crisp throttle response and lean for fuel efficiency, especially at cruising speeds.

AUTOMATIC GRADE BRAkINGTo prevent unwanted acceleration and reduce the need for the driver to brake during a hill descent, Terrain’s 6-speed automatic features Automatic Grade Braking. This “smart” feature monitors braking, acceleration, throttle position and even whether a trailer is connected to the vehicle. Then it commands the transmission to remain in a lower gear if the vehicle is decelerating or coasting on a downgrade to help you hold your desired speed and minimize the need for additional braking. * 2013 Terrain fuel consumption based on GM testing in accordance with approved

STATE-OF-ThE-ART POWER Terrain offers two power choices. The first is a standard 2.4L four-cylinder engine that generates 182 horsepower, yet has a highway fuel consumption rating of just 6.1 litres per hundred kilometres.* Terrain also offers a new-for-2013 available 3.6L V6 that puts out 301 horsepower. Both Terrain powerplants feature engineering innovations like Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and Direct Injection to make the most power and torque from every drop of fuel.

TRACTION CONTROL SySTEM

To make the most of available traction on many road surfaces, traction control measures and compares the speed of your wheels. If it senses one or more wheels starting to spin, such as on a slippery surface, the system applies individual brakes and manages engine power to slow the wheel down and maintain traction, so you can move forward with a better sense of control.

FULLy INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION

For control and a high level of refinement, GMC Terrain is engineered with a four-wheel independent suspension. As the name implies, each wheel can act independently to maintain road contact, which helps you stay in control. On the highway, this suspension offers the best of both worlds: a smooth ride with a precise feel for the road.

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD)

An Intelligent AWD system is available for extra traction and the ability to adapt to changing road conditions. This system sends the maximum amount of torque needed to each wheel and adjusts torque as required to help you maintain control.

ANTI-LOCk BRAkING SySTEM (ABS)

For confident stops in a variety of conditions, every Terrain features four-channel anti-lock brakes. When the brakes are applied, ABS can detect impending wheel lock-up, and then pulse that wheel’s brake to prevent it.

ADVANCED DUAL-FLOW VALVING

This feature in Terrain Denali’s front suspension shock absorbers provide a smoother ride and improved handling across a broad range of driving conditions.

RACk-MOUNTED ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING

2.4L equipped Terrain models feature this system. It automatically gives you extra steering boost when you need it for parking and tight manoeuvres, and less assistance for highway driving. The use of an electric motor in place of a traditional hydraulic system also helps improve fuel efficiency.

AVAILABLE TRAILERING PACkAGE

Terrain has an unsurpassed trailer rating of 1588 kg (3500 lb.) with the available 3.6L V6 or up to 680 kg (1500 lb.) with the standard 2.4L 4-cylinder, when properly equipped. That means a model with the 2.4L engine can comfortably handle a jet ski or a motorcycle, while the 3.6L V6 can pull larger single-axle camping or boat trailers.

HILL HOLD BRAkE ASSIST

To prevent your Terrain from rolling backward while on a hill or steep incline, hill hold Brake Assist takes over as soon as you lift your foot from the brake. This system holds full brake pressure for up to 1.5 seconds if it senses potential “rollback,” giving you time to carefully move your foot to the accelerator and pull away smoothly.

CONFIDENT CONTROL There is no greater comfort than confidence, which is why we engineered Terrain with technologies that help keep you firmly in command. Every Terrain comes with a four-wheel independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, StabiliTrak® electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold assist and a rack-and-pinion steering system designed for improved road input and response. 16 DUAL-STAGE FRONTAL AIRBAGS*To help reduce the risk of injury to the driver and front-seat passenger, Terrain is equipped with 2 front dual-stage airbags with a Passenger Sensing System. The passenger sensing system feature uses sensors within the front-passenger seat to detect the weight of an occupant. If the occupant is under a certain weight, the system turns off the airbag to protect the occupant.

HEAD CURTAIN SIDE-IMPACT AIRBAGS*These airbags deploy from the roof rail like a protective curtain for outboard passengers and can be activated by either rollover sensors or side-impact sensors.

SIDE-IMPACT AIRBAGS* To help protect the thorax and pelvic regions of the driver and outside front passenger in a side-impact collision, Terrain includes standard side-impact airbags mounted in the driver and front-passenger seats.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SySTEMProperly inflated tires are important to your comfort, vehicle control and fuel efficiency. This available system uses tiny sensors inside the wheel to “broadcast” tire pressure to your vehicle, which alerts you to their status and inflation level through the Driver Information Centre. 17 FORWARD COLLISION ALERT & LANE DEPARTURE WARNINGThese systems are standard on Denali and SLT-2 models, and are available on SLT-1 models. Sophisticated digital imaging technology is used to help you avoid a crash. Forward Collision Alert provides an audible and visual signal if you are rapidly approaching another vehicle and it appears that a collision may be imminent. Lane Departure Warning alerts you if you happen to wander from your lane without using your turn signal.†

STABILITRAk® STABILITy CONTROL SySTEM To help you stay in control when the road is loose, snowy, icy, wet or uneven, StabiliTrak® uses a network of vehicle sensors to monitor how your Terrain is responding to your steering commands. If the system determines your vehicle is not responding properly, it can pulse the brakes or reduce engine power to help you stay on the path being steered.

ELECTRONIC CHILD SAFETy LOCkS To prevent young children from opening the rear doors unexpectedly, Terrain includes a one-touch electronic safety door lock switch. Simply pushing this button in the centre console sends an

electronic signal to the rear doors, blocking interior door handle function. The button is backlit in amber when the doors are locked and turns to red when unlocked to help you determine the locks are deactivated.

LATCH CHILD SEAT ANCHORING SySTEMLATCh – Lower Anchors and top Tethers for Children – is designed to make it easier to install a child seat correctly. It means that a LATCh-equipped child seat will install to specially designed retainer hooks in your Terrain. LATCh also enables a child seat top tether strap to be attached that helps limit movement in a forward crash to help reduce the chance of injury.

18 SIDE BLIND zONE†† AND REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT Terrain Denali’s radar-equipped sensors monitor side blind spots, alerting the driver to help reduce the risk of collisons. While in reverse, the rear cross traffic alert monitors your surrounding environment to provide visual and audible alerts to traffic approaching the vehicle from outside your field of vision.
