    Board of Directors

Our role as haircolorists is not only just to color hair but to color hair in a manner that will promote the business of professional haircoloring. What we do is so transformational, so uplifting, it should never be taken lightly. The mission of the American Board of Certified Haircolorists is to establish a higher standard for haircolorists. We do this by providing education and educational materials that will set you apart from those who are struggling with the basic skills required to be considered a professional haircolorist. The line between retail and professional haircolor is becoming more blurred every year and more and more clients are abandoning salons for home haircolor or they are simply letting their hair grow out, unable to find a skilled professional.

This is a one of a kind seminar produced completely by haircolorists. I think one of the biggest benefits of attending the Energizing Summit is the opportunity to rub elbows with other haircolorists and share information. Our classes are small so you can ask lots of questions and interact with the educators. It is important educators understand the challenges haircolorists are faced with.

Look over the classes offered, undiluted by sales pitches for the latest and greatest product. Take this opportunity to be the best that you can be and join forces with the best in our industry. Become an American Board Certified Haircolorist.

Peggy Sue will give you the no-fail tools to formulate. Formulating should not be a shot in the dark. It should be a well thought out process based on factors everyone should know. Peggy Sue will put you through the 4 step process. This plan follows the ABCH curriculum from the lift deposit concept through the natural hair and determination of the undertones. You will see how big a part the undertones play in the final color result, and be amazed at how easy it is. Peggy Sue conveys her message with clar-ity and crispness.

    Eliminate Formulating Frustrations

This class is all about bleach-es. Working with a variety of bleaches, each participant will put their bleach through its paces. Then the participants will compare results: which is faster, which is slower, which produces the most dust when mixing. It is also interesting to note the pH of each bleach and how much it changes the longer the bleach has been mixed. The price of each bleach is explored to see if the more expensive bleaches are worth the additional money. You will come away from this class with a world of knowledge about bleaches.

Mastering undertones is having the ability to pre-dict what the outcome of the color will be, based on the natural haircolor. This class will teach you how you can confidently predict the outcome of a haircolor. The haircolor in the tube or bottle is a constant. The only thing that changes are un-dertones, and they are based on your clients par-entage and the colors the hair has gone through while growing up. You will learn to use the cli-ent consultation swatch chart and you will come away from this class with the ability to better an-ticipate the final color result. This is a class for the newer haircolorist and anyone seeking to be-come an American Board Certified Haircolorist.

The object of this class is to have you think-ing differently about how you place foils in the hair. A good part of what you do is prepara-tion. Foils, bleach, brushes and combs are all specialized tools used for foil work. We fall into a pattern, all of us do things the same way day in and day out. This class is not only fun but it will teach you to be more productive with your foil work. In Toronto we do things differently. We have a different outlook about how we color hair. Come to my class I think you will love it.

He is the person who can separate fact from fiction better than anyone else, as he speaks in a very down to earth, understandable manner. Come to the class armed with questions.

With more and more young people wearing their hair long it becomes increasingly important for professional haircolorists to be able to maintain long hair. This class will teach you some special effects for highlighting long hair with Peek-a-boo Highlights, Flip Flop Highlights and others. This is a fascinating class, designed to arouse your creativity and draw awareness to the advantages of being proficient in the retouching of long hair highlighting. Are your colors not reacting as they should? Do you get brassy and red tones when you use an ash color? This class is for you. Kathy Partin, ABCH has developed a method of adding more color to your formulas so you get less fading and more durable haircolors. She calls the system she developed Color Concentration. It is substituting more haircolor in your formula in place of the water. You dont put water in your formula, you say? Yes you do! Did you realize more than half of your formula is water? Water that dilutes your color and makes it wash out of the hair faster leav-ing the hair dry and brassy. Using a digital film to bring you into the salon youll learn the why and how of peroxide, unwanted red tones, banding, fade, DAMAGE and gray coverage. This class is so enriching and so fast moving you will be crying for more. Dont miss Kathy Partin, ABCH.

This behavior is being repeated with some regularity in salons across the country. Dr. Tom Maricich has acted as an expert witness in many court cases that have taken place. He has a simple test you can use to determine if the bleach you are using is capable of imparting third degree burns on the head. According to Dr. Maricich many of these burns many not be caused by just the chemicals, but are actually caused by heat. A number of products heat up when the bleaching powder is mixed with hydrogen peroxide or water. He will take you through the list of conditions and ingredients that will cause this to happen.
