2013 CalendarUnderstanding YHVH’s Appointed Times

BACK PAGE (Picture)

This 2013 Calendar was created with love and with the intention of helping you better understand our Creator’s beautiful appointed times. We hope it is a blessing to you and your family. If you have any questions please send an e-mail to: [email protected]

And now we’d like to bless you according to the instructions our Heavenly Father gave to Moses:

Then the LORD (YHVH) spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, 'Thus you shall bless the sons of Israel. You shall say to them: The LORD (YHVH) bless you, and keep you; The LORD (YHVH) make His face shine on you, And be gracious to you; The LORD (YHVH) lift

up His countenance on you, And give you peace.' "So they shall invoke My name on the sons of Israel, and I then will bless them." (Numbers 6:24-27)

And with this blessing, we have placed the Holy Name YHVH upon you and He has promised His Blessing. May He bless you with His presence and with a deeper appreciation for and anticipation of the return of His Only Begotten Son – Yeshua/Jesus as you celebrate His Festivals this year!

INTRODUCTION – An Appointment With God

God wants intimacy with us more than we can imagine and He has given us appointed times and ways to draw closer to Him. He is calling us back and revealing Himself through His appointed times! Unfortunately, so many of us have been raised in a world so deeply corrupted by the ancient pagan Babylonian system that we never learned to participate in or even understand God’s calendar or His Festivals. We have been greatly robbed of these beautiful “set apart” times that were given to God’s people in the Old Testament which were kept by Yeshua (Jesus) and the apostles in the New Testament. They teach us all about Him and His son, Yeshua (Jesus). His Festivals are so near and dear to His heart, and He wants so much for us to celebrate with Him that He has actually instructed us to observe them. He didn’t instruct us to do them for it to be a chore. He instructed us to do them because He loves us. They are filled with blessings and insight regarding His master plan for saving all of mankind in the future. As we honor His ways, we become attuned to His timing; we gain a new appreciation for the loving acts He has done in the past, and anticipate what He will yet do – and when He will do it. They are a sign between Him and us that we are in covenant with Him and are called not to be children of the dark, but children of the light. “But you, brothers, are not in darkness, so that this Day (day of the Lord) should take you by surprise like a thief”. - 1 Thessalonians 5:4.

As you start to understand our Creator’s calendar and Festivals, He will reveal to you the wonder of these blessings and create in you a passion to pursue His ways instead of the world’s ways. After all, His ways are always best!

Let’s compare a few of His ways to the world’s ways: God (YHVH) begins the year in early spring as plant life begins to bud and grow; the world begins the year in the middle of dead winter. God’s months start with a new moon; the world’s haphazardly. God begins the day with a beautiful sunset; the world starts the day at midnight in utter darkness. God sanctified the last day of the week for rest; the world, the first day, the sixth day, or whatever day without regard for God’s command, if there is any rest at all!

We see in God’s word that the Babylonian system “shall intend to change times and law” (Daniel 7:25) and up to this point, it has been quite “successful”, but thankfully, if we continue to read in Daniel, we see that “His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him.” (Daniel 7:27)

It’s time to experience the joy of His calendar, accept our inheritance, and do His kingdom work. Are you ready?

Page 3: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

Let’s start out by examining a few Myths that have lead to the common thought that God’s Festivals don’t apply to all believers and can’t be celebrated today.

Myth: God’s Festivals are exclusively for the Jews! Truth: A good place to start is to identify exactly who “Israel” is. When God touched Jacob on the hip, He changed His name from Jacob to Israel (Genesis 32:27-28). The Israelites therefore are all the decedents of Jacob. Jacob had 12 sons which became the 12 tribes of Israel, one of which was Judah (where we get the Jews), but that was only one of the tribes formed. Where are all the other tribes today? They have been dispersed into the Nations; they are the lost sheep of Israel. “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” – Matthew 15:24. It could very well be you and I but whether we are a natural branch or “grafted in” branch, we are all part of the same tree whose root is Israel. God tells us several times in His word that He has one law for the native born and for the stranger who dwells among you (Lev 24:22, Exodus 12:49, Numbers 15:16, 29, 30, Deut 31:12). There is no separation, if you believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and want to worship Him, God’s Festivals are for you. For a wonderful in-depth teaching on this subject, check out Jim Staley’s teaching entitled “Identity Crisis” which can be found on You-Tube or you can order a DVD at www.passionfortruth.com.

Myth: If we are to keep God’s Festivals then we must need to perform Sacrifices in the back yard! Truth: Yeshua is the Eternal Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, and is the ultimate fulfillment of the atoning blood sacrifices required in the Torah, having been sacrificed once and for all. The apostle Peter tells us that “you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:5. According to the Scriptures, the “spiritual sacrifices” we can offer in our day that mean much more than the “blood of bulls, rams, goats, and lambs” ever did, include: To give a sacrifice of thanksgiving and praise, to render a broken (humble) spirit and a broken and contrite (repentant) heart, to do righteousness and justice, to remove evil deeds, to learn to do good, to reprove the ruthless, to defend the orphans, to plead for the widows, to express loyalty to God, to increase in the knowledge of God, to be compassionate, to love one’s neighbor as himself, to give thanks to His Name, to do good, and to share. So when we read about the numerous and complex historical requirements for animal sacrifices associated with the Festivals of YHVH, we can instead offer the types of spiritual sacrifices that according to His word, bring Him pleasure. SEVEN FESTIVALS OF THE LORD YHVH

“Seven” is the biblical number for perfection and completion. Since our God is the God of perfection and completion, we see this number repeatedly in the scriptures. There are 7 Days of Creation, the 7th day is a day of rest, or Sabbath (Ex 16:23, 30); the 7th year is a Sabbath rest for the soil (Lev 25:4); Seven 7’s of years were counted (forty-nine years), and then the next year (the fiftieth) was to be the Jubilee year in which all debts were forgiven and all slaves set free (Lev 25:8-12); Seventy 7’s of years were “determined” upon “my people” during which time God would bring to perfection and completion His redemptive purposes (Dan 9:24-27), and in Revelation we see these Judgments: 7 Seals, 7 Bowls, 7 Thunders, and 7 Trumpets.

Since it’s obvious that God has a plan and the plan includes the number “7”, let’s see how the Seven Annual Festivals/Appointed Times fit into His plan. Please remember, these are Festivals of the LORD (YHVH), not “just” Festivals of the Jews. Is He your LORD? If so, these are for you!

Passover March 24th 2013

Unleavened Bread March 25th – 31st 2013

Firstfruits March 31st 2013

Shavu’ot / Pentecost May 19th 2013

The first four Festivals of the LORD (YHVH) occur in the spring and have been perfectly fulfilled by Yeshua (Jesus). His entire salvation message plays out during these exact Festivals, and what a beautiful story it is. Yeshua was killed on Passover as the perfect Lamb of God, sacrificed to take away the sin of the world so eternal death could pass from us. He was buried during Unleavened Bread, without the “yeast” of sin in His life. Once we accept His blood for salvation, we must also die to our flesh, and remove the leaven of sin from our lives. Yeshua rose from the dead on Firstfruits, and became the Firstfruits of the resurrection which confirmed the promise of the future resurrection where we will get to spend eternity with Him. Starting from Firstfruits, 7 Sabbaths were counted (7 complete weeks – 49 days), and the day after the 7th Sabbath (the 50th day) came Pentecost. Pentecost is a microcosm of the Year of Jubilee when the believers had gathered together in Jerusalem as Yeshua instructed them, and tongues of fire descended on them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to talk in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. Yeshua gave us the Holy Spirit to help guide us into all truth until the “appointed time” of His return.

Yom Teruah / Feast Of Trumpets September 5th 2013 Yom Kippur / Day of Atonements September 14th 2013 Sukkot / Tabernacles September 19th – 25th

In keeping with the recurring pattern of 7 and in addition to the weekly 7th day Sabbath, our Heavenly Father has instructed us to rest on 7 specific days related to His annual Appointed Times. Scripture indicates that on these days, we are to have a “Holy Convocation” and we “shall do no customary work. It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations”.

The following table illustrates the 7 Annual Days of Rest for the 2013 Calendar Year:

Spring Festivals - Days of Rest *** Fall Festivals - Days of Rest *** Monday, March 25th Hebrew month 1, day 15 (Lev 23:7) Thursday, Sept. 5th Hebrew month 7, day 1(Lev 23:24-25) Sunday, March 31st Hebrew month 1, day 21(Lev 23:8) Saturday, Sept. 14th Hebrew month 7, day 10 (Lev 23:27-28) Sunday, May 19th Hebrew month 3, day 11(Lev 23:21) Thursday, Sept. 19th Hebrew month 7, day 15 (Lev 23:35) *** Remember - Hebrew Day of rest begins at the prior sunset Thursday, Sept. 26th Hebrew month 7, day 22 (Lev 23:36)

Teaching on the Festivals - On the pages following the month of December you will find more in depth information on God’s Festivals and ideas on how to celebrate them. You will also find resources to help you further your studies, so please make sure you check them out!

The final three annual Festivals of the LORD (YHVH) occur in the fall during the 7th biblical month. Just as the first four spring feasts foretold of the Messiah’s first coming as the “Suffering Servant”, these final three holidays teach us about His return in person as the “Lion of the Tribe of Judah” when He will establish His Kingdom, and rule and reign over all the Earth. We will learn and understand more about His unfolding plan as we participate in these Festivals. The Feast of Trumpets will begin the “Day of the LORD” as Yeshua comes and sends out His angels with the sound of the Shofar (trumpet) to gather us together from the four corners of the earth. The Day of Atonements is a day of fasting and “covering” of the sin of the individual, family, community, and the nation. Yeshua is our ultimate atonement, because His blood actually takes away the sin of the world! The Day of Atonements is associated with the future judgment of the antichrist and the false prophet who will be thrown into the lake of fire. The 7th Festival, the Feast of Tabernacles, is a 7 day Festival in which we were actually commanded to have much joy. It represents the glorious time when Yeshua will again “Tabernacle” or dwell among His people and will rule and reign for a thousand years. What a wonderful time that will be!

CALENDAR ESSENTIALS _____________________________________________________________________________

Each Hebrew Day begins at sunset and ends at sunset. It would have been way too confusing to show this on the calendar so please remember; when you see the Hebrew month/day shown at the top left of each day, just know that the day started at sunset the day prior and will finish at sunset of the current day. For example, Shabbat (the Sabbath) starts at sunset on Friday and finishes at sunset on Saturday. This is of course based on the creation account in Genesis, where we see that “there was evening and there was morning, the [first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth] day” – Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31.

Each Biblical Month starts on the Hebrew Day when the “Dark Moon” conjunction occurs. The new month begins on the Hebrew day when the moon is exactly in-between the sun and the earth, at the time when “the moon does not give its light”. This first day of the Hebrew month is identified on this calendar with blue shading and is called “Rosh Chodesh”, the Hebrew term which literally means “Head of the Month”. You will notice a difference between this calendar and the Hillel II calendar which is currently being used by many today. The Hillel II calendar is based on mathematical calculations that may not always line up with God’s instruction. It also adds and/or removes days in order to have the Festivals land on preferable days.

Since God tells us in His word not to add or take away from what He commands (Deut 4:2), this calendar, with the help of an amazing teaching entitled “Time: Our Creator’s calendar” from 119 Ministries (www.testeverything.net), is based solely on His word. This teaching is highly recommended for those wanting more in depth information on the techniques used for this calendar. You can also find a brief summary on the back page of this calendar as to why the dark moon is used to start the month instead of the commonly used crescent moon.

Central Time Zone Calendar. This calendar uses the Central Time zone and uses sunset data based on Plano, TX.

119 Ministries produced a calendar based on Jerusalem time. This calendar has simply taken into affect the time zone difference and uses Central Time to ensure those located in the Central Time Zone are celebrating at the same exact time as those located in Jerusalem.

If you are located in a different time zone, your local dark moon conjunction time can be found on the NASA Sky Calendar website and when cross referenced with the local sunset time, the first day of the Hebrew month can be determined. If the dark moon occurs before sunset, the current day is the first day of the month. If the dark moon occurs after sunset, the new Hebrew day has already begun, and thus the first of the month is shown on the following day (remember, even though it is displayed the following day, it still starts at sunset the day before). This may become clearer if you review the months of October and December as the dark moon conjunction occurs shortly after sunset during these months.

Weekly Shabbat/Sabbath; From the beginning of time, our Creator has set apart a day of rest for us – the 7th Day of the Week. It is a time when we set aside the worries of our lives, and come together with family, friends, and with YHVH (GOD) Himself to relax and enjoy some family time together in his Word. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. "Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (Exodus 20:8-11) The Scriptures reveal that when we participate in this special appointed time, we are actually displaying a sign that we are in covenant with Our Heavenly Father YHVH (Exodus 31:31; Ezekiel 20:11-12). Yeshua, the disciples, apostles, and early church believers [and “interested gentiles”] all observed the Sabbath, and often were noted to be teaching and even healing “at the synagogue on the Sabbath”

Page 8: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

(Mark 1:21; Mark 6:2; Luke 4:16; Luke 6:6; Luke 13:14; Acts 13:14; Acts 13:42; Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4). Yeshua Himself said “the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28).

While there have been many calendar systems in use throughout the ages to define months and years, there is near universal acknowledgement of a perpetual seven-day week which has always started on what we call “Sunday” – the first day of the week. Therefore, the Sabbath that Yeshua kept would have been on the seventh Hebrew day of the week, beginning at sunset on Friday evening, and continuing to sunset on Saturday evening. This weekly pattern has continued uninterrupted ever since. This calendar supports the weekly “Saturday” Sabbath.

With a goal of combining paganism with Christianity, on March 7, 321 AD Roman Emperor Constantine declared Sunday (the day Pagans worshiped their “sun” god) to be the official day of rest (Sabbath). Subsequently, those who rejected Sunday Sabbath and continued with biblical observance were severely persecuted, as some were even burned to death for keeping the Sabbath day as God (YHVH) had commanded. Unfortunately, the man-made tradition of Sunday rest has continued through the ages as most Catholic and Christian church denominations have enforced this practice. It is a blessing that we are now in a time and place where we can again honor the Sabbath day as commanded by YHVH without such persecution. For more details on the history of the Sabbath and the Church (and much more), Richard Rives has some great teachings that can be found at: http://www.toolong.com/

Weekly Scripture Readings. According to 1 Peter 2:1-2, like newborn babies, we are to thirst for the “pure milk” of the Word of God. This calendar includes a suggested weekly reading cycle for each week. This will enable us to establish a solid foundation in the Word by covering the entire “Torah” or Instructions contained in the first five books of Scripture in one calendar year. The name for each weekly portion is displayed on each Shabbat and is actually the first Hebrew word of the first verse in each week’s reading. The name corresponds to bible readings found at the top scenic portion of your calendar. Additional

readings from the Prophets and New Testament which have a common theme with the “Torah Portion” are also included.

God’s Holy Name: YHVH – We very thankfully have our Bibles today because of the ancient Hebrew scribes who worked faithfully to preserve the word of God in the original language. Unfortunately, whether because of persecution, or religious tradition of taking the commandment, “You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God” to the extreme, the majority of modern-day bible translators have completely removed His name from our bibles altogether. Everywhere you see capital GOD or capital LORD in your bible, His actual name was removed and replaced with these titles. Interestingly, His name still appears in Hebrew Bibles, but Rabbinic Judaism has maintained the tradition of altogether avoiding His Holy name. Instead, whenever they see His Holy name in the text, they use a substitute title such as ADONAI (LORD) or ELOHIM (GOD) whenever the Hebrew text is read aloud.

His name is declared over 6000 times in the bible; make no mistake about it, He wants us to know His name. He tells us in His word that whoever calls upon His name will be saved (Romans 10:13, Acts 2:21, Joel 2:32). We sing songs about His name, “Blessed be the name of the LORD” and yet so many today don’t know what His name is. He even tells us in His word that we will forget His name (Jeremiah 23:26-27).

Well, it’s time for us to reconnect with our Heavenly Father on a more personal level by knowing and calling on His Name! His Name in the original Hebrew text is יהוה, Hebrew letters “Yud-Hey-Vav-Hey” which in English can be written as YHVH or YHWH. Some pronounce The Name “Ye HO Vah”, and others say “Yahweh”. No matter how you choose to pronounce The Name, it is sure to be more pleasing to Him than only using “titles” that also apply to many other so-called “lords” and pagan “gods”.

In honor of His name, you will see the use of YHVH throughout this calendar. For a wonderful book on this topic, check out "His Hallowed Name Revealed Again" by Keith Johnson.

Page 9: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

be obedient by applying the blood of a perfect, unblemished lamb to the lintel and doorposts of their doors in order to spare their firstborn males. This is the same for us today, we have a free will choice to have faith to listen and obey our creator, and to accept Yeshua and apply His blood to our hearts and minds. It’s through faith in Him and accepting His free gift, the sacrifice of His Son, that saves us and sets us free from bondage; and teaches us how to stay free from that bondage through His word and by His Spirit.

Through this journey, He also wants you to know that you may have times when your world seems like it is closing in on you and you feel like you have no way out. He wants you to know that He is with you and can and will part the seas for you! And every spring, He wants you to have a special and intimate meal where you share the incredible account of this freedom from Egypt and His amazing salvation with your family, friends, and neighbors. This is because He loves us and wants us to have the strength and faith to know that He did these things for us once before and will do them again at the end of time. The plagues of Exodus are nearly identical to the seals, trumpets, and bowls of wrath described in the book of Revelation. He wants us to hear this story over and over again so that when we read Revelation or when that time comes, we will not fear, but trust that He will provide for us a “Goshen-like” shelter just like He did for the ancient Israelites in Egypt.

Unleavened Bread

Old Testament - The LORD YHVH said that for 7 days, the children of Israel must eat unleavened bread. The bread, made in a hurry without yeast, represents how the LORD YHVH rescued His people from slavery and brought the Israelites out of Egypt in haste. (Exodus 12:15-19)

New Testament Fulfillment - Unleavened bread (matzah) is a symbol of Passover. Leaven represents false religious teaching (Matthew 16:12), hypocrisy (Luke 12:1), wickedness and evil (1 Corinthians 5:8). Matzah stands for "purity and truth" and is a picture of Yeshua (Jesus), the only human without sin. Yeshua said that "the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world" and that He (Yeshua) is the "bread of life," the "bread

that came down from heaven," the "living bread" which man may eat and not die (John 6:32,35,41,48). We also see that the next step in YHVH’s plan is for us to identify false teaching we may be living by, and to repent of (turn away from) any hypocrisy, wickedness, and evil, that is any sin in our lives. Sin is like leavening; it puffs us up and makes us proud as it spreads into all areas of our lives. We are to remove the leaven and be humble like Yeshua.

Ideas on celebrating Unleavened Bread - Per His instruction, we are to have two days of rest – the first and the seventh day of this Festival, and come together with your fellow brothers and sisters for a time of worship, study, and fellowship (Holy Convocation). In accordance with the Scripture, make preparations for this time by removing leaven/yeast and leavened products from your home. You will especially enjoy the fruits of “spring cleaning” your home. Get the kids involved to make sure every last crumb has been accounted for. Get creative and explore new and tasty recipes for foods that do not contain leaven, and bless others by sharing your “yeast free” holiday concoctions. This may seem silly but it’s amazing what happens in the spiritual when we do things in the physical. While removing the leaven/yeast from your home, actively look for and eliminate any “spiritual leaven” from your life. Read the Gospel accounts of Yeshua’s death and burial to gain a renewed appreciation of the very high cost of our salvation. Thank your loving Heavenly Father for Yeshua - the Bread of Life - who gives us the “spiritual food” that we need to live.

Firstfruits

Old Testament - On the Day of Firstfruits, the early mature portion of the barley crop harvest was prepared for a special offering. A bundle of the grains were gathered into a sheaf (omer) and waived before the LORD YHVH as an act of dedicating the harvest to Him. This special grain offering took place on the day after the weekly Shabbat that takes place during the week of Unleavened Bread (i.e. Firstfruits is on a “Sunday”). Leviticus 23:10

New Testament Fulfillment - Firstfruits is a picture of Yeshua's resurrection. After “three days and three nights” in the grave, Yeshua rose from the dead on

And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent, rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance." - Acts 2:1-4

THE SPRING “FEASTS”

The first three Festivals of the LORD YHVH, Passover, Unleavened Bread, & Firstfruits are celebrated over a 1-week period in the spring. Many refer to this week as the week of Passover since all three of these Festivals relate to the deliverance of the Israelites out of Egypt, and for believers, our ultimate deliverance by Yeshua. The fourth Festival in the spring is Pentecost or Shavuot (weeks) and happens 7 weeks later. We hope the following overview of God’s Feasts will help you on your way…

_____________________________________________________________________________

Passover

Old Testament – Passover Commemorates God’s Deliverance of Israel as slaves out of Egypt. The LORD YHVH sent Moses to free His people from Egypt and lead them to the Promised Land. Pharaoh refused to let them go, so the LORD YHVH, after nine other plagues of rebuke told His people to cover the lintels and doorposts of their homes with the blood of a perfect lamb. That night, the LORD YHVH "passed over" the homes with the blood on the doorframes, and struck the firstborn males in all of the other households, including the son of Pharaoh. Finally, Pharaoh let the Israelites go. This was the final plague that delivered the Israelites from bondage in Egypt.

New Testament Fulfillment - Yeshua (the Hebrew name of Jesus), lived a perfect and sinless life, and has provided us the way to salvation. He showed loving kindness to those in need, and boldly challenged the false teachings of the prevailing religious authorities who ultimately collaborated with the political authorities to crucify Him on Passover. Through the shedding of His blood, He became our ultimate Passover sacrifice and perfect Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. If we have faith in God and accept and apply Yeshua’s blood to the “doorposts of our hearts and minds” and turn from our sins (Hebrews 10:26) then we have the promise that we shall not perish, but have eternal life with Him.

Ideas on celebrating Passover - Have a special meal together that includes unleavened bread (the evening of Passover is day 1 of unleavened bread), and go over the Passover account and how Yeshua fulfilled the Festival. Passover is an excellent time to “take communion” together in remembrance of

Him, and sing or read the “Hallel” Psalms 113-118 as Yeshua did with his disciples at “the last supper” [Matthew 26:26-30]. The following is a heartfelt summary of the Passover account and its significance that could be discussed during the meal which is intended to create a memorable event for you and your loved ones.

What a heavy price GOD had to pay in order to legally rescue us from death caused by the well-earned wages of our sin – His very own Son, Yeshua. How it must have crushed His heart to stand by and witness the relentless beatings that His precious Lamb unjustly bore on our behalf. The humiliation, mockery, torture, and eventual grueling murder of a humble man who set out to teach us how to live a life in honor of the Creator of the Universe, instead of living the immense burdens heaped upon us by the “religious authorities” of His day. And even though Yeshua’s sacrifice on the cross was the ultimate fulfillment of Passover, GOD still wants us to commemorate the time He brought the children of Israel (and any and all who wanted to worship Him) out of Egypt. This is an everlasting ordinance from generation to generation. He wants us to tell the story of how He heard His children’s cries and how He, by His mighty hand and outstretched arm, brought the children of Israel out of Egypt and out of bondage.

Each of the plagues leading up to their freedom was a direct strike against each of the Egyptian pagan “gods”. He wants us to tell the story of the plagues so that we can have strength in knowing that our God is the God above all other “gods” and no other god can compare. He is the one that will fight for us and there is nothing too big He cannot handle! We also see that when He got to His final plague it took faith, action and obedience from His children to be spared. What was that faith, action and obedience? They had to trust what He said and

Page 34: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

be obedient by applying the blood of a perfect, unblemished lamb to the lintel and doorposts of their doors in order to spare their firstborn males.

Page 35: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

the Festival of Firstfruits, and delivered to our Heavenly Father an offering of the "Firstfruits of the resurrection" - the resurrected bodies of the ancient righteous dead whose graves had been opened during the earthquake following Yeshua’s crucifixion, and were seen walking through the streets of Jerusalem (Matthew 27:51-53). “But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the Firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the Firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming.” – 1 Corinthians 15:48

Yeshua's resurrection is confirmation of the promise of the future resurrection of all believers (John 5:28, 29).

Ideas on celebrating Firstfruits – Firstfruits is the day after the Sabbath that occurs during the week of Unleavened Bread. We’re not told to rest on this day, however, it is a wonderful time to come together and celebrate the Risen King! Take the time to offer Thanksgiving and Praise to YHVH for the promise of the Harvest, for raising Yeshua, and for the hope of the resurrection yet to come. Consider offering an act of kindness and provide something special for someone in need.

Pentecost/Shavu’ot – Feast of Weeks

Old Testament – On the day of Firstfruits, a priest waved the Omer (sheaf of barley) before the LORD YHVH. Counting the days of the Omer then begins and continues until the day after the seventh Sabbath, the 50th day, which is called Shavu'ot or Pentecost. Also known as Feast of Weeks, the Feast of the Harvest, and the Latter Firstfruits, it is the time to present an offering of new grain of the summer wheat harvest to the LORD to show joy and thankfulness for the harvest. Shavu’ot also marks the time of the Exodus from Egypt, when fire from the presence of YHVH descended atop Mount Sinai in Arabia. Moses told the people to assemble at base of the mountain, while he climbed up to meet with YHVH who then announced the “10 Commandments” to all the

people present that day. In a subsequent act judgment over the rebellious sin of worshipping a pagan golden calf, 3,000 people died.

New Testament Fulfillment - Yeshua told his disciples to wait in Jerusalem following His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. On Pentecost when they were all together, the Holy Spirit filled the whole house with a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and what appeared to be "tongues of fire" fell and filled the disciples (Acts 2). The people responded to Peter's message with repentance, and about 3,000 were added to their number that day (Acts 2:41), effectively redeeming the number of those lost as a result of the golden calf incident (Ex. 32:28).

"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4:23-24)

Shavu’ot is a time to destroy the golden calves in our lives – those religious practices and man-made traditions we’ve held so dearly, but are not according to His Word. It is a time to fully commit to worshipping our Heavenly Father as led by His Spirit, and in accordance with His Truth – the Word of God.

Ideas on celebrating Pentecost - Shavu’ot is always on a Sunday, and it is a biblical day of rest. Take the day of rest to come together and worship YHVH in Spirit and in Truth, according to His Word, powered by His Spirit, and in honor of His Son. The Scripture indicates we should prepare two loaves of “leavened bread” during this celebration. In one of His many parables, Yeshua compared the Kingdom of Heaven to yeast, indicating that this message of the Kingdom would fill the whole earth in due time. (Matthew 13:33) Read the inspirational account in the book of Acts which describes the Kingdom Power of the early believers who exercised gifts of signs, wonders, miracles, and healings, as they wholeheartedly loved one another. Actively seek the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and get ready to use the gifts He has given to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to the Earth!

Page 36: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

As we wrap up the discussion on the Spring Feasts, were you excited to see how our entire salvation message was played out as Yeshua perfectly fulfilled them? Let’s take a moment to absorb the impact of this and solidify our understanding of YHVH’s use of “7s” through His prophetic and messianic calendar. Remember, His Fall Feasts are in the 7th month of the year – a time when we can anticipate the return of Yeshua to rule and reign over all the earth.

THE FALL “FEASTS”

The last three Festivals of the LORD YHVH, Yom Teruah/Trumpets, Day of Atonements and the Feast of Tabernacles take place during the 7th Hebrew month and speak of the second coming of Yeshua. We hope the following overview of these Feasts will stir up excitement and help you anticipate His soon return…

_____________________________________________________________________________

Yom Teruah / Day of Trumpets

Old Testament – “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. ‘You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD.’” - Leviticus 23:24-25.

New Testament – “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” – Matthew 24:29-31

Possible Future Fulfillment – Yom Teruah is the only Annual Festival on God’s calendar that actually occurs on the first of the month. As we know, the first of the month is the dark moon, when the moon is exactly in-between the sun and the earth, at the time when “the moon does not give its light”. It is a memorial of blowing of trumpets which will be happening when He sends His angels to gather His elect. Can He possibly be preparing us for the day of His return? “But you have no need to have anything written to you, brothers, about the times and dates when this will happen; 2 because you yourselves well know that the Day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 When people are saying, "Everything is so peaceful and secure," then destruction will suddenly come upon them, the way labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there is no way they will escape. 4 But you, brothers, are not in the dark, so that the Day should take you by surprise like a thief; -1 Thessalonians 5:1-4

Ideas on celebrating Yom Teruah - Just do what YHVH instructed us to do. Take the day off, come together with other believers (Holy Convocation), honor Him with the blowing of the Shofar (trumpet), and/or giving Him a loud shout of praise, for He is worthy to be praised! We can eagerly anticipate His returning for His bride and be thankful for His promises, we should also take to heart that the Day of Judgment will soon be upon us. It is a good time to examine our lives and right any wrongs we’ve done to God or our fellow brothers and sisters.

Yom Kippur / Day of Atonements

Old Testament - "Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. 28 "And you shall do no work on that same day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God. 29 "For any person who is not afflicted in soul on that same day shall be cut off from his people. 30 "And any person who does any work on that same day, that person I will destroy from among his people. 31 "You shall do no manner of work; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 32 "It shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls; on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your Sabbath." (Lev 23:27-32 NKJ)

Possible Future Fulfillment – Could this possibly be the Day of Judgment? God loves us SO much that He has even given us the day we should fast, pray and seek His face before we have to stand in front of Him, face to face. He definitely is the God of mercy!

Page 38: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

Ideas on celebrating Yom Kippur - Just do what YHVH instructed us to do. Take the day off, come together with other believers (Holy Convocation) for a day of complete fasting (afflict our souls). This is a good time to intercede and appeal for mercy on behalf of ourselves, our family and friends, and our Nation/Community. We see this in the story of Jonah – Jonah was sent by God to Ninevah, a wicked murderous nation to warn them of impending judgement. We see that they humbled themselves (fasted) and turned from their wicked ways and because of that, God speared them. He is so good to warn us before judgment!

Sukkot (Feast of Booths or Tabernacles)/Feast of Ingathering

Old Testament - "Speak to the children of Israel, saying:`The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the LORD. 35 `On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it. 36 `For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it. 37…..39 `Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. 40 `And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. 41 `You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. 42 `You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, 43 `that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them

out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.'" (Lev 23:34-37;39-43 NKJ)

Possible Future Fulfillment – Sukkot is a Festival of joy as we anticipate Yeshua’s return to “Tabernacle” among His people and rule and reign for a thousand years. He will start off this event by throwing the “anti-christ” and “false prophet” into the lake of fire, and will bind up satan at the bottom of the abyss for the 1,000 year period. At the conclusion of the millennial reign, satan will be released and destroyed in battle. This event may be represented by the 8th Day rest that concludes Sukkot, the time of the new beginning – when this present Heaven and Earth will pass away, and the New Jerusalem descends from Heaven.

Ideas on celebrating Sukkot - Take the first day and the eighth day off as He requested and come together as a Holy Convocation. On the first day, cut down branches as a family/Holy Convocation and wave them and rejoice to the LORD YHVH. Go camping for a week or just put a tent out in your backyard, and camp out with your family for the week. Tell them about when the Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years and how the LORD YHVH looked after them and provided water out of the rock, gave them manna (bread) from heaven, and caused their shoes and clothes not to wear out. He dwelt with them as a pillar of fire by night and a cloud of smoke by day. He was their loving protector and provider. He wants every generation to know these things so that they know to know to know that He is faithful and will be with them always, providing all their needs. He is their protector and provider even when it may sometimes feel like a time in the wilderness.

It’s also a time to celebrate the thousand years of peace in God’s Kingdom here on earth when He will again “Tabernacle” among His people and rule and reign for a thousand years. What a wonderful time that will be!

Why begin the Biblical month with the “Dark Moon”, instead of with the observation of the “Crescent” Moon? _____________________________________________________________________________

This is a touchy subject, as the widely accepted Hillel II “Jewish Calendar” is based on Crescent Moon calculations with certain adjustments made to ensure that Yom Teruah never occurs on a Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday. These “Rabbinic Innovations” prevent Yom Kippur from occurring immediately before or after Shabbat, which would create practical difficulties with the fast and interfere with traditional ceremonies that could otherwise not be performed. Many feel that all who celebrate the Feasts of the LORD should embrace the Rabbinic Calendar for the sake of unity. Many also teach that these Feasts are prophetic in nature, and prepare us for events yet to come, even the specific timing of the future events. So, the key question to ask - What Prophetic Significance (if any) is associated with Yom Teruah – the Feast of Trumpets?"

Most Believers in Yeshua who pursue a biblically consistent lifestyle which includes observing the Festivals of YHVH, would respond to this question with "The Day of The LORD, a time when Yeshua will return to call us together to Himself". If this is actually the case, then it would be very important to be observing that Festival at the right time (not too late) so that "Day will not come to us like a thief". Let’s consider the words of Yeshua and the Prophets concerning "That Day". Please carefully consider the following scripture references which all are related to "The Day of the LORD": Matthew 24:29-31, Amos 8:9-10, Isaiah 13:9-10, Ezekiel 32:7-8, Joel 2:10-11, Joel 3:14-15

These Scripture references all contain common themes that illustrate “ON” that Day, the Day of the LORD, when the Son of Man will appear, the day’s arrival will be marked with the following characteristics:

1) "Sound of the Shofar/Trumpet" – This aspect associates the coming of "The Day of the LORD" to the Festival Yom Teruah (aka Feast of Trumpets) on which the memorial sounding of the shofar is commanded as part of the annual “dress-rehearsal” of this Festival. Yom Teruah begins on the “Rosh Chodesh” or the “first day” of the 7th month of the Hebrew Calendar Year.

2) "Moon will not give its light" – i.e. the moon is completely dark, when it is not giving off any light. Once crescent moon becomes visible in the Western sky shortly after sunset (usually 1-2 days after the Dark Moon Conjunction) the moon is actually giving light. The term Rosh Chodesh literally means “Head of the Month”. Another Hebrew word related to דש Chodesh” which is spelled“ ח the exact same way is the word ש .”Chadash” - most often translated “New“ חדSo the term “Rosh Chodesh” can be understood to be the “Head” of the “New Month”. This day is completely unique and set apart from all others days of the month, and the time of the Dark Moon conjunction is the only day of the month where the moon does not give any light. Every other day of the month, including the day of the Crescent Moon, contains a moon that gives light.

3) "Sun will be darkened" – This phrase could be understood to reference a

Solar Eclipse, which can only happen at the Dark Moon Conjunction. This is the point at which the moon is exactly between the sun and the earth, as the moon blocks the sunlight from being seen on specific points on the earth until the moon transits past this point of conjunction. A crescent moon will never cause a solar eclipse since at that point in the lunar cycle, the moon is no longer physically located between the earth and the sun.

We have 5 Witnesses in Scripture that are all in agreement: On the Day of the LORD, The moon will not give its light and the sun will be darkened. If these prophecies describe "signs in the heavens" that will be observable from the earth, the only time of the month that these conditions can occur is at the Dark Moon conjunction, and not at the sighting of the crescent which occurs 1-2 days later. If this interpretation is correct, those who follow a man-made tradition of observing the Crescent Moon to mark the beginning of the month (e.g. Rabbinic Judaism, Islam, and others) would be celebrating Yom Teruah 24-48 hours after the actual Day of the LORD arrives. That Day would come to people using these calendar methods as a “thief in the night” on a “day they do not expect” and an “hour they are not aware of”.

Page 40: 2013 Calendar - Babylon Rising book s

It is very interesting to note that the Hebrew word ים השהר נ “Ha Saharonim” translated “The Crescent Ornaments” is used three times in Scripture (Judges 8:21& 26; Isaiah 3:18), and all three of these passages contain negative associations of this Crescent Moon jewelry to idolatry and materialism, and ultimately judgment.

However, it is also noteworthy that the Chinese, whose ancient pictorial written language closely resembled the ancient Hebrew script, also use a lunar-based calendar that starts each new month on the day of the “Dark Moon” conjunction.

In conclusion, this calendar has been derived using the Dark Moon conjunction to identify the beginning of each month. The motivation for this approach is to ensure that we have the opportunity to observe the Festivals of YHVH at the appointed time of the coming of Messiah on a future Yom Teruah – possibly on one marked with a Dark Moon conjunction that causes a Solar Eclipse as has been spoken of by Yeshua, the Son of God and Son of Man, and the ancient prophets.
