MESSAGE
Magsasaka, Mabuhay Ka! Handog Mo’y Pagkaing Sagana.
Allow me to say that as this is the 84th Anniversary theme of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI). This year 2014, we recognize and honor the efforts and struggles of the Filipino farmers in making sure that our people will have food on their table when they need them.
Foremost in producing food for the people is that farmers are given a choice of crop varieties that will suit their farming practices,
culture, and location. That is why; plant breeders continuously develop new varieties that address the needs of farmers, like higher yielding, resistant to insects and diseases, can survive in adverse conditions, and many others.
Thus, the Department of Agriculture through the BPI-National Seed Industry Council and within its mandate imposes upon plant
breeders that their varieties undergo a series of variety trials. In this way, a variety gets registered in the National Seed Industry Council (NSIC) before the commercial release of their crop varieties.
Recently, the National Seed Industry Council approved for registration and accreditation some varieties of rice, corn, cassava,
peanut, and eggplant. The varieties‟ characteristics are now published in our 2013 Seed Catalogue.
It is our vision that farmers will always be provided new choices and better varieties to ensure their economic welfare and more nutritious food for the consuming public.

AGRO-CLIMATIC, SEASONAL AND CULTURAL ADAPTATION
A variety adaptable to year-round production under clay-loam
and sandy-loam soil condition in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao peanut growing areas.
MAJOR REASONS FOR RECOMMENDING:
a. High yielding during wet season, particularly in Visayas
and Mindanao test locations.
b. Average bean yield advantage is 36% over the NSIC
Pn13m the national check variety. Its yield advantage can
be attributed to its shorter resulting in more pods and to
its good seed quality. This variety will address the need
for a better medium-maturing (107 DAE), all-season
variety that will enhance year-round peanut production;
c. Resistant to Cercospora leaf spot and rust.
