HEAD COACH BRYAN HARSIN

Bryan Harsin, a 13-year coaching veteran at the NCAA FBSlevel who has coached in 10 bowl games as either an assistantor offensive coordinator, was named the Red Wolves' 29th all-�me head football coach on Dec. 12, 2012.

Harsin, a finalist for the 2009 Broyles Award recognizing thetop assistant coach in the country, has been associated with twona�onally-prominent programs during his rise to A-State's headcoach. Working closely with Chris Petersen at Boise State andMack Brown at Texas, two of the most well-respected coaches inthe country, Harsin spent the last seven seasons as an offensivecoordinator with the Broncos and Longhorns.

Harsin served the last two seasons as Texas' co-offensive co-ordinator and quarterbacks coach a�er spending the previous 10on the Boise State staff, including the last five as offensive coor-dinator and quarterbacks coach as well. During his tenure atboth schools, he guided offenses that consistently ranked amongthe na�on's best in almost every sta�s�cal category.

In his first season at Texas, he had the task of pu�ng a newoffense in place with a young group that featured 10 differentfreshmen and sophomores star�ng for the Longhorns. Despiteits youth, the offense was able to put up over 500 yards of totaloffense four �mes and rank 21st na�onally in rushing offensewith 202.6 yards per game. The team ran for over 400 yards inback-to-back games against Kansas (441) and Texas Tech (439),marking just the fi�h and sixth 400-yard rushing performances byTexas since 1980. Harsin helped guide three different star�ngquarterbacks to 2,360 yards and 12 touchdowns in addi�on tothe offense crea�ng four other passing touchdowns.

His influence on the offense con�nued to pay dividends for23rd-ranked Texas this season as the Longhorns climbed 31places to No. 24 in the na�on in scoring with 36.1 points pergame. Under Harsin's direc�on, Texas also generated 441 yardstotal offense per game this year and ranks ninth in the na�on inpassing efficiency. The Longhorns posted over 400 yards total of-fense in nine games and scored at least 30 in eight, including aseason-high 66 against Ole Miss. Texas' Harsin-coached quar-terbacks this season have combined to throw 23 touchdowns andboth have a pass efficiency ra�ng that ranks among the top 20players in the na�on.

He was at the helm of the Boise State offense during a five-year period where the Broncos posted a 61-5 record that in-cluded two undefeated seasons, which were capped by FiestaBowl wins over TCU in 2009 (14-0) and Oklahoma in 2006 (13-0).They reached at least 12 wins in four of his five seasons as coor-dinator and had three Top 10 finishes, including ranking No. 5/6in 2006, No. 4/4 in 2009, and No. 10/10 entering the 2010 bowlseason. In 2008, they finished just outside the Top 10 at No.11/13.

�mes, capped by ranking first in 2009 (42.2 ppg) and second in 2010 (45.1 ppg).They also ranked second in 2006 (39.7 ppg), fourth in 2007 (42.4 ppg) and 12thin 2008 (37.6 ppg). In all, Boise State averaged 41.4 ppg during his �me as co-ordinator.

The Broncos ranked in the Top 10 in total offense in three of Harsin's sea-sons as coordinator and were no lower than 18th in all five of his years, culmi-na�ng in 2010 with an average of 521.3 ypg, which set the BSU school recordand ranked second na�onally. In those five seasons, the Broncos offense aver-aged 459.9 ypg.

As quarterbacks coach, Harsin guided Kellen Moore into becoming one ofthe na�on's most produc�ve quarterbacks. In 2010, Moore was named first-team All-America by the Football Writers Associa�on of America and becameBoise State's first Heisman Trophy finalist. He was also a finalist for the MaxwellAward, Davey O'Brien Award and Manning Award and was named the na�on'stop quarterback by The Touchdown Club of Columbus.

ESPN.com, SI.com and CBSSports.com named Moore first-team All-Amer-ica, the Associated Press named him third-team All-America, while he also fin-ished seventh in the 2009 Heisman vo�ng and earned Western Athle�cConference Offensive Player of the Year honors.

In his third season as offensive coordinator, Harsin's 2008 unit was takenover by Moore, who was a redshirt freshman. Moore would compile one of themost outstanding seasons by any Broncos quarterback, finishing the year witha NCAA freshman record 69.4 comple�on percentage (281-of-405), 25 touch-down passes and just 10 intercep�ons. He was also named WAC Freshman ofthe Year.

In Harsin's first season as offensive coordinator, the 2006 Broncos wentundefeated and running back Ian Johnson led the country in rushing touch-downs and scoring. He also set a school single-season record with 1,713 yards.He was named to four separate All-America teams and finished eighth in theHeisman Trophy vo�ng.

From 2002-05 Harsin served as �ght ends coach at BSU. That unit playeda vital role in a Broncos offense that led the na�on in scoring twice and finishedin the top 10 in scoring in each of those four years. In 2005, four Broncos �ghtends combined to catch 27 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns. In2004, Harsin helped the �ght ends contribute to the top-scoring offense inschool history (48.9 ppg).

In his four seasons as �ght ends coach and one as a graduate assistant,Boise State had a record of 53-11, making the Broncos record in his 10 seasonsthere 114-16.

Prior to coaching the �ght ends, Harsin was a graduate assistant with theBroncos in 2001. He was a member of the Bronco football team from 1995-1999, earning three varsity le�ers. He served as Boise State's backup quarter-back in 1999 when the team went 10-3 and won the Crucial.com HumanitarianBowl.

A�er gradua�ng from Boise State in 2000 with a degree in business man-agement, Harsin entered the coaching profession at Eastern Oregon, coachingrunning backs and receivers during the 2000 season.

Harsin and his wife, Kes, have two daughters, Devyn Lynn and DaynMykena, and a son, Davis. Harsin is a graduate of Capital High School in Boise.

Kent Riddle begins his first season at ArkansasState as the Red Wolves' assistant head coach,�ght ends coach and special teams coordinator.

Riddle comes to Arkansas State a�er spendingthe last two seasons as special teams and �ghtends coach at North Texas, but has also coachedat Colorado (2006-10), Boise State (2001-05),Army (1995-2000) and Oregon State (1993-94).With over 20 years coaching experience at theFBS level, Riddle has coached in six bowl gamesand has been the posi�on coach for three All-Americans, 10 all-conference performers and fourNFL players.

During his two seasons as special teams coachat North Texas, he oversaw the efforts of All-Sun Belt Conference players Brelan Chancellorand Will A�erberry. Chancellor recorded a school-record 1,094 kickoff return yards in 2011to become the first player in North Texas history to produce 1,000 yards in a season, whileA�erberry earned all-conference honors in both 2011 and 2012 as a punter.

Riddle's �ght end corps combined to record 47 recep�ons for 415 yards and three touch-downs during his two years with the Mean Green, led by Andrew Power with 16 catches for142 yards and a touchdown in 2011 and Drew Miller with 18 recep�ons resul�ng in 136 yardsand two scores in 2012.

Riddle made the move from Boise State to Colorado in 2006 with then-head coach DanHawkins, spending five seasons with the Buffaloes as their �ght ends coach and special teamscoordinator. At Colorado he coached two All-Americans, including placekicker Mason Crosbyand punter Ma� DiLallo. In 2007, Colorado was one of just six schools in the na�on to rankamong the top half of all teams in net pun�ng, punt returns, kickoff returns, punt return de-fense and kickoff return defense.

Riddle spent the 2001-05 seasons at Boise State as running backs and special teams coach,working alongside Harsin for the 2005 campaign when the Broncos played in the MPC Com-puters Bowl. Many of his special teams units during those five seasons regularly finishedranked among the top 25 teams in the na�on, including a kickoff return team that was in thetop 21 every season and a punt return squad that placed in the top 18 his last four years.

He was able to assemble one of the most accurate kicking games in the country duringthat span as well as Boise State kickers converted 96.8 percent of their PAT kicks (330-of-341)and 73.1 percent of their field goal tries (68-of-93).

In 2005, Boise State ranked 12th in the na�on in kickoff returns (24.2 avg.), anchored byLee Marks, who was 10th na�onally as an individual (27.9 avg.). The Broncos were also 18thin punt returns (12.8 avg.), with Quinton Jones second in the country with 20.9 yards per re-turn that included three touchdowns. The coverage units were excep�onal as well as BoiseState was 17th in punt return defense (5.9 avg.) and 29th in kickoff return defense (18.7 avg.)

Riddle coached placekicker Tyler Jones at Boise State to an All-American season and aspot as one of three finalists for the Lou Groza Award in 2005. In 2003, the Broncos ranked15th in the country in both kickoff and punt returns, following up a 2002 campaign whenboth finished 13th in the NCAA.

The Broncos also led the WAC in punt returns and kickoff coverage in 2003, allowing just17.0 yards per return. In 2001, David Mikell was seventh in the na�on in kickoff returns (28.4avg.), leading the team to a 19th-place na�onal ranking.

His first three seasons at Boise State saw the Broncos produce a 1,000 yard rusher eachyear. David Mikell earned honorable men�on All-WAC honors in 2003 a�er rushing for 1,142yards and 13 touchdowns. Brock Forsey was named the WAC Offensive Player of the Year in2002, rushing for 1,611 yards (11th in the NCAA) and a na�onal-best 26 touchdowns. Forseywas also a First Team All-WAC performer in Riddle's first season a�er picking up 1,207 rush-ing yards.

Riddle joined the Boise State coaching staff a�er serving as an assistant coach at Army forsix seasons. At Army, his first full-�me coaching posi�on, he coached fullbacks from 1995-98 before making the move to special teams coach and recrui�ng coordinator for the 1999and 2000 seasons.

He worked his first five years there under head coach Bob Su�on, and he was retainedwhen Todd Berry was named coach in 2000. In 1996, he helped coach Army to its only 10-win season in history as the Black Knights went 10-2 and made an appearance in the Inde-pendence Bowl.

Prior to joining the Army staff, Riddle began his coaching career in 1991 as a student as-sistant coach at Oregon State. In 1992, he was promoted to a graduate assistant posi�on, firstserving one year as the video G.A. before working as an offensive G.A. coach in both 1993 and1994. He helped tutor the running backs while also overseeing the prepara�on of the de-fensive scout team his last two seasons.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Oregon State in 1992 a�er comple�ng his playingcareer for the Beavers as a quarterback for coach Dave Kragthorpe.

ELIAH DRINKWITZCo-Offensive Coordinator

Running BacksEliah Drinkwitz will begin his second

season as Arkansas State's running backcoach in 2013 and his first as co-offensivecoordinator.

In his first season at ASU, he helpedlead the Red Wolves to 10-3 record andthe Sun Belt Conference championshipwith a 7-1 league mark. He also helpedlead the A-State to 17-13 victory overthen-ranked No. 25 Kent State in the Go-Daddy.com Bowl. The win was also

ASU's first over a top-25 team since it joined the FBS in 2012.Drinkwitz coached running backs for an ASU squad that ranked No. 23 in

the na�on in rushing offense with 206.2 yards per game in 2012. The RedWolves rushed for over 200 yards in seven games and scored a Sun Belt Con-ference-best 31 rushing touchdowns on the year.

Under Drinkwitz' direc�on, junior running back David Oku was a First TeamAll-Sun Belt Conference selec�on and became the first A-State player to rushfor over 1,000 yards in a season since 2008. Oku ran for 1,061 yards duringand also scored 16 rushing touchdowns, the most in the Sun Belt and themost by an ASU player since 1975.

The ASU running back corps was highlighted by Oku, but featured severalplayers that excelled under Drinkwitz. In fact, the group combined to record2,168 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns. The Red Wolves also averaged 5.0yards per rushing a�empt to match the second highest average in school his-tory. A-State's running backs recorded 272 receiving yards on 36 recep�onsover the course of the season as well.

"We are excited Coach Drinkwitz will be remaining here at Arkansas Stateand joining our coaching staff," said Harsin. "He did an outstanding job herethis season, and he was instrumental in the development of the top offensein the conference. He is young and energe�c and an up-and-coming coachwith not only a passion for coaching, but also for his players."

The Alma, Ark. na�ve spent the 2010-11 seasons as an offensive graduateassistant coach at Auburn prior to coming to Arkansas State. He assisted withall aspects of the offense during his �me with the Tigers. During the 2010season he helped the Tigers finish 14-0, winning the Southeastern Confer-ence championship and the BCS Na�onal Championship behind HeismanTrophy winning quarterback Cam Newton. The 2011 season saw Auburn fin-ish 8-5, including a 43-24 victory over Virginia in the Chik-fil-A Bowl.

Prior to Auburn, Drinkwitz coached four seasons at Springdale High Schoolfrom 2006-09. He first served as the Bulldogs' offensive line coach and run-ning game coordinator in 2006 before spending the next three years as theiroffensive coordinator. During his �me as offensive coordinator, Springdaleaveraged 422 yards of total offense per game while se�ng school records incomple�ons, recep�ons and yardage.

Drinkwitz spent the 2005 season as an assistant coach at Alma HighSchool, where he started his coaching career as a volunteer assistant from2001-03 while s�ll a�ending college. He earned his bachelor's degree in ed-uca�on from Arkansas Tech in 2004, gradua�ng Magna Cum Laude a�erserving as student body president.

Prior to a�ending Arkansas Tech, Drinkwitz was an all-conference and all-state selec�on for the Alma football team and was named an FCA HuddleLeader of the Year.

Drinkwitz is married to the former Linsey Sivils, and they have one daugh-ter, Addison, born March 19, 2010.

QuarterbacksBush Hamdan enters his first

season an assistant coach atArkansas State, serving as co-of-fensive coordinator while oversee-ing the quarterbacks posi�on.

Hamdan most recently spent the2012 season as wide receiverscoach at the University of Florida,helping guide the Gators to an 11-1 record and a No. 3 ranking in the

BCS standings. He will also help coach Florida against Louisvillein the Sugar Bowl on January 2.

Hamdan spent the 2011 season as �ght ends coach at Sacra-mento State and the 2010 campaign as a coaching intern on theMaryland staff, but will be reunited with Harsin for the first �mesince playing quarterback at Boise State from 2005-08 whileHarsin was the Broncos' offensive coordinator.

"Coach Hamdan played quarterback for me at Boise State, andI had the opportunity to become very familiar with his outstand-ing knowledge and understanding of the game," said ASU HeadFootball Coach Bryan Harsin. "He gained valuable experience aswide receivers coach at the University of Florida this year, and hedid a terrific job as a member of their coaching staff to help themget to a BCS bowl game. We are excited to welcome Coach Ham-dan to our program and the Arkansas State University family."

Hamdan's lone season at Maryland saw the squad produce a 9-4 record, including a 51-20 victory over East Carolina in the 2010Military Bowl. As a senior quarterback under Harsin at BoiseState, Hamdan won the 2008 Bronco Excellence Award.

The Gaithersburg, Md., na�ve graduated from Boise State witha bachelor's in communica�ons in 2008. He went on to completehis master's in athle�c administra�on from Idaho State.

A highly-decorated high school quarterback, Hamdan was amember of the Super 44 Prep Team and All-Metro in Washington,D.C. During his prep career, he passed for more than 4,000 yardsand 40 touchdowns.

LinebackersJohn Thompson, a coaching veteran with over

30 years experience at the collegiate level as bothan assistant and head coach, will begin his secondseason as Arkansas State's defensive coordinatorand linebackers coach in 2013.

Thompson also acted as A-State's interimhead coach in the 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl, lead-ing the Red Wolves to a 17-13 victory over then-ranked 25th Kent State. The victory was ASU'sfirst in a bowl game since 1970 and also markedits first win over a top-25 team since it joined theFBS in 1992.

Thompson was also a part of ASU's staff in2012 that led the Red Wolves to a 10-3 seasonand a Sun Belt Conference championship with a7-1 league mark.

Thompson oversaw Arkansas State's 2012 defense that ranked first in the Sun Belt Con-ference in scoring defense and second in total defense. The Red Wolves had four defensiveplayers named All-Sun Belt Conference this year, including first-team choices Nathan Herroldat linebacker and Ryan Carrethers on the defensive line.

The Red Wolves shut out two opponents during the 2012 season, including an 8-4 Mid-dle Tennessee squad in the regular-season finale, for the first �me since 1987. Under Thomp-son's direc�on, A-State also ranked third in the Sun Belt in turnovers gained, picking up 10fumble recoveries and 13 intercep�ons. A-State had eight players post an intercep�on to�e for the 15th most in the na�on.

Thompson's defensive unit con�nued to evolve and improve as the season progressed.Against Sun Belt Conference opponents only, the Red Wolves ranked first in the league inrushing defense (119.9 yards per game) and second in pass defense efficiency (132.6). Thedefense allowed just 396 rushing yards over the last five regular-season games for an aver-age of just 79.2 yards per contest and also recorded 11 intercep�ons over the last nine games.

As linebackers coach, Thompson's posi�on group combined to record 281 tackles, 18 tack-les for loss, 12 pass break-ups, five intercep�ons, five forced fumbles and two fumble recov-eries. Herrold and fellow linebacker Qushaun Lee both posted the best numbers of theircareer and ended the regular season as A-State's top two tacklers.

In fact, Herrold posted a career-best 114 tackles for the most by an ASU player since 2003.Both Herrold and Lee were named all-conference at the end of the regular season, and Leewas named the GoDaddy.com Bowl's Defensive MVP a�er recording 13 tackles and two passbreak-ups.

Thompson has worked 26 seasons as a coordinator and was also the head coach at EastCarolina for two years. Recognized as a top defensive mind, Thompson has worked as de-fensive coordinator or co-coordinator at Southeastern Conference schools Mississippi,Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina and LSU, as well as at Memphis, Southern Mississippi,Louisiana Tech and Northwestern State.

As a defensive coordinator, Thompson has seen more than 40 of his defensive playersdra�ed by, or sign with, Na�onal Football League teams. Forty-four of his defenders earnedall-conference honors, five were named all-America, and one, former Northwestern Statelinebacker Gary Reasons, has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Thompson came to A-State a�er serving as Georgia State's assistant head coach for sched-uling and strategic planning and defensive coordinator. Thompson also coached inside line-backers at Georgia State, where he spent the previous four seasons.

Thompson went to Georgia State in July 2008 a�er spending the 2007 season as defen-sive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Ole Miss. That followed a one-year s�nt asathle�cs director at his alma mater, the University of Central Arkansas, which he guided in itsmove to NCAA Division I. He served as co-defensive coordinator at South Carolina in 2005.

As the head coach at East Carolina in 2003-04, he coached three first-team all-conferenceplayers and seven all-freshman selec�ons.

Thompson was the defensive coordinator at Florida in 2002, when the Gators' pass de-fense was ranked seventh in the na�on, allowing just 162.4 yards per game. He also spent twoyears at Arkansas, serving as co-defensive coordinator in 2000 and then defensive coordina-tor in 2001. In 2000, the Razorbacks were second in the na�on in pass defense while leadingthe SEC in pass defense and total defense. The following year, Thompson helped leadArkansas to the Co�on Bowl.

Thompson's first posi�on as a defensive coordinator came at Northwestern State, wherehe served from 1983-86, and again from 1988-89 a�er spending the 1987 season as line-backers coach at Alabama.

In 1990, he became the defensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech for two seasons beforemoving to Southern Miss as defensive coordinator in 1992. He was given addi�onal respon-sibility as assistant head coach in 1993. In Thompson's seven seasons at Southern Miss (1992-98), the Golden Eagles won or shared two Conference USA �tles, twice ranked among the top25 na�onally in scoring defense and made two bowl appearances.

In one season at Memphis in 1999, his Tiger defense ranked 11th in the na�on in scoringdefense and 23rd in total defense.

A na�ve of Forrest City, Ark., Thompson began as a high school coach in 1977 while pur-suing his bachelor's degree at UCA. He con�nued to coach prep football un�l moving to thecollege ranks in 1982 as a graduate assistant at Arkansas, where he worked under Lou Holtz.

A high school quarterback, Thompson was inducted into the Forrest City High School Hallof Fame in 2006. His playing career also includes two seasons as a defensive back at CentralArkansas. He earned his bachelor's degree in physical educa�on from UCA in 1978.

Blake Baker enters his first sea-son at Arkansas State as an assis-tant coach for the Red Wolves andwill coach safe�es.

Baker comes to A-State a�erspending 2010 through 2012 as adefensive graduate assistant coachat the University of Texas. Heworked closely with the both theLonghorns' linebackers and defen-sive backs, two posi�on groups

that included eight All-Big 12 selec�ons over the last two years.He also helped coach All-American linebacker and Lo� Trophy fi-nalist Emmanuel Acho and cornerback Quandre Diggs, the 2011Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Baker was a part of the Texas coaching staff in 2011 that ledthe Longhorns to a No. 11 na�onal ranking in total defense, yield-ing just 306.8 yards per game. The 2011 Longhorns' defense alsoranked among the top 20 teams in the na�on in rush defense(96.2 ypg), pass efficiency defense (111.0) and tackles for loss(7.4 pg).

Texas has won 16 games in Baker's two years on the coachingstaff, including a 21-10 victory over California in last year's Bridge-point Educa�on Holiday Bowl. The Longhorns are set to play Ore-gon State in the 2012 Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29. Baker notonly worked with Harsin the last two years at Texas, but also withcurrent Longhorns head coach Mack Brown and Florida headcoach Will Muschamp during his tenure at the school.

Prior to joining the Texas staff, Baker spent the 2009 season asa wide receivers coach at Clear Springs High School in Houston,Texas, before taking over du�es as linebackers coach the follow-ing spring.

The Houston na�ve was a four-year le�erman and three-yearstarter at Tulane University from 2000-04, helping lead the GreenWave to a win in the 2002 Hawaii Bowl. He earned his bache-lor's degree from Tulane in 2008.

BRAD BEDELLOffensive Line

Former All-American and NFL playerBrad Bedell, who most recently spentthe 2011 season as an assistant coachat New Mexico State, begins his firstseason as offensive line coach atArkansas State.

Bedell also oversaw the offensiveline at NMSU, a group that includedAll-Western Athle�c Conference selec-�on Davonte Wallace. The Aggies' linehelped their offense compile 4,024yards total offense, including over

1,171 yards on the ground and 2,853 through the air.Prior to New Mexico State, Bedell served as the offensive line coach

and run game coordinator at UC Davis in 2011. During his one season atUC Davis, Bedell coached two First Team All-Great West Conference se-lec�ons in offensive linemen Sean Davies and Ray Wilburn.

Bedell went to UC Davis from Northern Colorado, where he was alsothe Bears' offensive line coach for the 2010 season. His lone season atthe school saw the Bears average 357.8 yards total offense per game,while also ranking 31st in the na�on in passing yards (227.0 ypg). Bedellcoached two All-Big Sky Conference choices, including offensive tackleLee Barbiasz and center Tim McGraw.

Bedell began his coaching career as an offensive intern from 2007-09at Colorado, his alma mater. He worked with the Buffaloes coaching staffa�er ending a six-year NFL career with four teams, including the Hous-ton Texans (2006), Green Bay Packers (2004-05), Miami Dolphins (2003)and Cleveland Browns (2000-01). Bedell saw ac�on in 40 NFL games,including four as a starter, during his pro career.

"Coach Bedell brings six years of experience as a player in the NFLwith him, and he was recognized as one of the top offensive linemen inthe na�on as a college player," said ASU Head Football Coach BryanHarsin. "He has been able to apply what he learned from those experi-ences to what he is doing on the field and in recrui�ng as a coach, so hewill be a valuable part of this staff and we are excited to have him hereat Arkansas State."

His desire to coach led him back to Colorado, where he earned twole�ers as an offensive guard in 1998 and 1999 and was named a FirstTeam All-America selec�on by the Football Writers Associa�on of Amer-ica as a senior. He was tabbed Second Team All-America by the Associ-ated Press and named First Team All-Big 12 as a senior as well. He useda medical redshirt in 1997 a�er a neck injury sidelined him following thesecond game of the season, but graded out at 89 percent over his finaltwo seasons.

Bedell played the 1995 and 1996 seasons at Mt. San Antonio (Calif.)College, where he was a first Team All-America choice and rated as thetop junior college offensive lineman and the No. 4 overall junior collegerecruit in the na�on in 1996. As a sophomore right offensive tackle, hedid not allow a sack all season and was called for only one penalty whileleading the Moun�es to an 8-2 record and win over over Chaffey Col-lege in the Southern California Bowl.

Julius Brown enters his first seasonas cornerbacks coach at ArkansasState.

Brown joins Arkansas State a�ermost recently spending the 2012 sea-son as cornerbacks coach at Sun BeltConference member Troy. Browncoached a cornerbacks corps that sawfive different players combine torecord 100 tackles, 18 pass break-ups,

three fumble recoveries and an intercep�on. Under Brown's direc�on,Troy corner Bryan Willis ranked 13th in the conference in passes de-fended and T.J. Bryant was second in the league in fumble recoveries.

Brown will work with Harsin for the second �me of his career, alsospending �me on the Boise State staff for four of the five seasons Harsinwas the Broncos' offensive coordinator. Prior to his arrival at Troy, Brownspent the 2009 and 2010 seasons as Boise State's Director of Player Per-sonnel.

During those two seasons, Brown's responsibili�es included workingas the on-campus recrui�ng coordinator, organizing official and unoffi-cial visits for recruits and their families, overseeing the football recrui�ngand scholarship budgets, assis�ng the director of football opera�onswith summer camps, ac�ng as a liaison with the department's academicsupport team and represen�ng the football program at campus andcommunity events.

The 2007 and 2008 seasons saw Brown serve as a graduate assistantcoach on the Boise State staff. He worked with wide receivers and alsoserved as the assistant director of football opera�ons during that �me.

Before joining Boise State, Brown spent one season coaching defen-sive backs at Boise's Capital High School. He helped lead the Eagles tothe state playoffs in his lone season at Capital.

Brown was a three-year starter and four-year le�erman as a defensiveback for Boise State from 2000-03, also playing while Harsin was on theBroncos' coaching staff. Brown was a member of the 2002 and 2003WAC championship teams and helped lead Boise State to wins in the2002 Crucial.com Humanitarian Bowl and the 2003 Plains Capital FortWorth bowl. He was an Honorable Men�on All-WAC choice as a seniora�er leading the league in passes defended.

"Coach Brown has a well-rounded background, from a coaching as-pect to opera�ons to experience as a player," said ASU Head FootballCoach Bryan Harsin. "I saw first-hand at Boise State that he was an out-standing coach, but he's also been successful and done a great job every-where he has been. He will be another outstanding addi�on to ourcoaching staff."

Brown, a na�ve of Stockton, Calif., is a 2006 graduate of Boise Statewith a degree in business administra�on.

STEVE CALDWELLDefensive Line

Arkansas State University alumnus, le�ermanand former assistant coach Steve Caldwell hasreturned to his alma mater and enters his firstseason as the Red Wolves' defensive line coach.

Caldwell has been a part of two na�onalchampionships, roamed the sidelines in 15 bowlgames and brings over 30 years of coaching ex-perience with him to Arkansas State, which hehelped lead to the NCAA I-AA na�onal champi-onship game in 1986 as an assistant coach.Caldwell will actually begin his third s�nt as amember of the ASU coaching staff in 2013, alsoserving as the program's linebackers coach from1985-89, assistant offensive line coach in 1980and as a graduate assistant coach from 1978-79.

His previous coaching experience also includes stops at Arkansas, Tennessee, Missis-sippi, Nevada, Pacific and Northwest Mississippi Community College. He helped lead Ten-nessee to the NCAA Division I-A na�onal championship in 1998 and Northwest MississippiCommunity College to the NJCAA na�onal �tle in 1982. Caldwell has tutored 13 playersselected in the NFL dra�, including eight taken in the first three rounds.

Caldwell most recently spent the last three seasons as Arkansas' defensive ends coachand was promoted to special teams coordinator as well prior to the Razorbacks' appear-ance in the 2012 Co�on Bowl. Caldwell was a part of Arkansas' coaching staff that led theRazorback's to back-to-back 10 win seasons in 2010 and 2011 and a spot in the 2011 SugarBowl for the first BCS appearance in program history.

Arkansas' 2010 squad averaged 2.85 sacks and 7.31 tackles for loss per game to ranksecond in the Southeastern Conference and ninth in the na�on in both categories. In fact,the Razorbacks ranked among the top 36 teams in the na�on in sacks every year duringCaldwell's tenure, including 25th in 2012.

Prior to Arkansas, Caldwell spent the 1995-2008 seasons as Tennessee's defensive endscoach. During his 14 seasons at Tennessee, the Vols appeared in 13 bowl games and endedthe season ranked among the top 25 teams in the na�on 10 �mes. The Volunteers' de-fense was ranked in the top four among league schools in total defense 10 �mes while hewas at Tennessee, and their defensive unit led the SEC in fewest rushing yards allowedthree �mes.

In 2008, the unit ranked first in the conference and �ed for third na�onally in total de-fense a�er allowing 263.5 yards per game. In 2005, Caldwell helped Spark the Vols' de-fense to the best rushing average allowed in the SEC (82.5), which ranked secondna�onally. Caldwell also gained accolades for his work on the recrui�ng front, helpingTennessee sign what many considered to be some of the na�on's top recrui�ng classeson an annual basis.

Before moving to Tennessee, Caldwell coached briefly at Ole Miss between the 1994and 1995 seasons following a one-year stop at Nevada. During his lone season at Nevadaas co-defensive coordinator, he helped lead the Wolf Pack to a 9-2 record and the 1994 BigWest Conference championship. He also served as co-defensive coordinator at Pacificfrom 1991-93.

Caldwell, who owns both a bachelor's and master's degree from Arkansas State Uni-versity, began his coaching career in Jonesboro following a four-year playing career as de-fensive end and linebacker for A-State from 1974-77. During his �me as a player, ASUcompiled a 30-13 record that included an 11-0 mark in 1975.

The Thayer, Mo. na�ve served as a graduate assistant coach in 1978 under former headcoach Bill Davidson and again in 1979 during Larry Lacewell's first season as head coach.He then accepted a posi�on as an assistant coach working with the offensive line in 1980before moving on to Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he coached the of-fensive line from 1981-84.

He rejoined Lacewell's staff in 1985 as linebackers coach during an era of tremendoussuccess for A-State. Caldwell was a part of ASU's coaching staff during its final two seasons(1985-86) as a member of the Southland Conference, helping lead it to back-to-back league�tles and three consecu�ve trips to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs from 1985-87. A-Stateadvanced to the quarterfinals each season, including the 1986 campaign when it finished12-2-1 and played in the na�onal championship game in Tacoma, Wash.

Caldwell's 1985 linebacking unit helped Arkansas State lead Division I-AA in total de-fense with an average of just 258.8 yards allowed per game. ASU compiled a combined 21-6-1 record during its final two years as a member of the SLC and a 39-22-2 record over thecourse of Caldwell's five years as linebackers coach. Caldwell worked as a graduate assis-tant coach at Tennessee in 1990 before he moved on to Pacific.

Anthony Tucker is in his first seasonat Arkansas State as the Red Wolves'wide receivers coach.

Tucker comes to Arkansas Statea�er spending the last two seasons atIdaho State, where he coached outsidewide receivers for a squad that rankedamong the top 10 in the na�on inpassing yards in back-to-back years.Led by All-America wide receiver Ro-drick Rumble, the Bengals averaged351.6 passing yards per game last sea-

son to rank fourth na�onally, while the 2011 team held the na�on'sninth-best average at 300.6 yards per game.

The Tucker-coached Rumble was named to mul�ple All-Americateams during his career, which he finished as Idaho State's all-�meleader in recep�ons (223) and receiving yards (2,863). Under Tucker's di-rec�on, Rumble finished among the top-10 players in the na�on in re-cep�ons and receiving yards as both a junior and senior.

Prior to joining Idaho State, Tucker served the 2010 season as Col-orado's Offensive Technical Assistant under then-head coach DanHawkins. He was part of Colorado's staff that included current A-Stateassistant head coach Kent Riddle as well, and during his �me with theBuffaloes he also worked briefly with current ASU assistant coach BradBedell and director of strength and condi�oning Jeff Pitman.

Tucker went to Colorado a�er spending the 2006-09 seasons as Lake-wood (Calif.) High School's Passing Game Coordinator and Wide Re-ceivers Coach. He also coached the wide receivers in the Best of theWest Quarterback and Wide Receivers Skills Camp in 2008 and 2009 inLakewood.

Tucker spent four seasons in the NFL, singing as a free agent with theNew York Giants in 1999 and later earing a spot on the team's prac�cesquad in 2000. He was allocated to NFL Europe from the Giants in 2001and played for the Amsterdam Admirals. He signed with the St. LouisRams in 2002 and then suffered a career-ending leg injury.

"Coach Tucker is another great addi�on to our coaching staff," saidHarsin. "The experience he brings as not only a proven wide receiverscoach, but also an NFL-caliber player at the posi�on will strengthen ouroffense and make him a great resource for our players. He has an ex-tensive knowledge of the game and a solid background with several ofour coaches already on staff, so he is a tremendous fit for our program."

A three-year le�erman at Fresno State, Tucker started at wide receiverhis last two seasons with the Bulldogs. Tucker earned his bachelor ofscience degree in criminology in 1999 from Fresno State, where he wasa WAC Scholar-Athlete, member of the dean's list three �mes andearned President's List honors one �me for having a 4.0 GPA.

Tucker was a football and track and field star at Los Alamitos HighSchool in Los Alamitos, Calif., under coach John Barnes, the winningestcoach in Orange County history. Tucker helped his team complete a per-fect 14-0 record his senior season in 1993 to win the school's thirdstraight CIF championship. He was a team captain on the track, wherehe par�cipated in hurdles and sprin�ng events.

JONESBORO, Ark. (2/6/13) — First-year Arkansas State headfootball coach Bryan Harsin announced on National SigningDay that 20 high school and junior college standouts, includingfour midyear signees, from seven different states have inkedwith the Red Wolves.

The Red Wolves’ first recruiting class under Harsin is madeup of 16 high school players and four junior college transfers.The class features five players from Alabama, four from bothTexas and Arkansas, three from California, two from Mississippiand one from Kentucky and Missouri.

The Red Wolves signed five defensive backs, the mostamong any position, and have inked 12 players expected toplay on the defensive side of the ball. Also among the signeesare three linebackers, three defensive ends and one defensivelineman. Including three wide receivers, two quarterbacks,two tight ends and one offensive lineman, A-State signed eightoffensive players.

“We are extremely excited about the young men we’vesigned and believe this is an outstanding class,” said Harsin.“We feel like we’ve met our needs and will be able to fill manyof the vacancies left with the departure of our graduating sen-iors. All these players will bring a great contribution both onand off the field to this program, and we will continue to bringin the best and brightest to Arkansas State.”

Among the 20 newest Red Wolves are nine players ratedat least three stars by one or more of the major recruitingsources and nine who earned either junior college all-confer-ence or high school all-state recognition. Additionally, eightASU signees were ranked among the top 55 players in theirhome state and 12 rated among the top 150 players in thecountry at their position by either Scout, Rivals, ESPN or 247Sports.

A-State’s four midyear signees available to participate inspring practices are defensive back Willie Fletcher (Fr., Carson,Calif.), linebacker Garrett Kaufman (Fr., Bentonville, Ark.) quar-terback Chandler Rogers (Jr., Brookhaven, Miss.) and offensivelineman Brennan Tutor (Pontotoc, Miss.).

The Red Wolves are coming off back-to-back Sun Belt Con-ference championships and a victory over 25th-ranked KentState in the 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl.

ASU ended the 2012 season receiving votes in both theAssociated Press and USA Today Coaches Top-25 polls and willenter the 2013 season tied for the nation's second longest win-ning streak with Stanford and behind only Ohio State. ASU isone of just 16 programs in the nation to win at least 20 gamesover the last two seasons.
