UNSW LAW AMBASSADORS (PURPLE SHIRT) RECRUITMENT 2012:

The UNSW Law faculty is currently recruiting new ambassadors to join the team for 2012.

To be considered you must be:

In second year or above

Confident, enthusiastic and happy talking to all kinds of people

Active in life at Law School

A team player willing to help with the less glamorous side of events

Proud to be part of UNSW Law Student Ambassadors are paid $26.62 per hour and receive AHEGS recognition. Please note: Student Ambassadors working for SRO this year are not eligible to apply. Responsibilities of Purple Shirts include:

Promote UNSW Law to high school students and their parents through attendance at Careers Markets, Tertiary Information events and other promotional events run by UNSW LAW.

Provide information to all prospective students through presentations, mentoring and student enquiries

Assist the law faculty staff with recruitment activities i.e. logistics and materials.

STUDENT LEGAL EDUCATION GROUP COORDINATOR APPLICATIONS

The Schools Legal Education Group ('SLEG') is seeking two coordinators to fill vacant positions in 2012. SLEG’s social outreach program bridges the legal profession with young people by sending law student presenters to high schools, providing students with access to legal information on a youth to youth platform. Coordinators will be responsible for volunteer recruitment, managing classes, and the smooth running and general organisation of the Schools Legal Education Group. This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in community justice and social outreach. We welcome applications from students at all stages of their law degree. Previous involvement in the SLEG program is not necessary. If you feel you are suitable for this position, please complete the attached form, and forward it, along with a copy of your CV to [email protected]. VOLUNTEER COURT ASSISTANTS SOUGHT: DOWNING CENTRE

Are you interested in a volunteer work experience opportunity with a Solicitor that entails assisting him to provide a free legal service to qualifying clients in the Downing Centre Local Court Complex? Essential Selection Criteria:

Desire to volunteer for litigation work experience with a Solicitor

Ability to read and speak English with excellent fluency under pressure

Ability to comprehend written & spoken English accurately under pressure

Of an extremely extraverted nature and comfortable speaking with strangers

Access to a land line phone connected to where you live

Details: Volunteer court assistants will help a Solicitor to provide a low cost legal service to qualifying clients modelled on the Pro Bono Reduce Fee model in the Downing Centre Court Complex between 8am – 4:30 pm on the following Fridays:

The first Friday of each month;

The fifth Friday in any month. This opportunity is open to all students meeting the specified selection criteria who are studying Law alone or a Law combined degree. 2011-2012 TRANDAFIR INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS WRITING COMPETITION

Topic: Any topic of contemporary international

business or economic concern with a legal nexus.

Award: Publication and CASH PRIZE of $2,000

The winning essay will be published in

Transnational Law & Contemporary Problems, a

journal of the University Of Iowa College Of Law.

Eligibility: All students currently enrolled in a law

or graduate degree program from any institution in

the world are eligible.
