Top Yaris LE 5-door Advantages Over Fiesta SE 5-door New front seat design A new whiplash injury lessening design for the front seats adds more peace of mind. AUDIO AND TELEMATICS ADVANTAGES The Yaris LE has the kind of standard audio features you expect in a much more expensive car Superior sound system From the speaker count to the head-unit features, Yaris LE offers outstanding sound. Standard telematics Hands-free calling and phonebook access courtesy of standard Bluetooth ® technology. Standard music streaming Wireless access to iPod ®2 and compatible smart phones expands your music choices. VALUE AND PERFORMANCE Value means different things to different people: Toyota covers many customer needs and desires with Yaris. Toyota Care ®3 One way to help stay in budget is to have two years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first) of worry-free maintenance—a standard Yaris feature the Fiesta doesn’t have. Lower curb weight A good subcompact feels lively and light on its feet. Yaris weighs less than Fiesta, and you can feel the difference. New SE model More than just an appearance package, Yaris SE has real performance-enhancing features. Fiesta doesn’t have a comparable performance upgrade. THE RIGHT SUBCOMPACT SIZE One of the biggest benefits of a subcompact is its handy size, and Yaris wins this hands down. Compact exterior dimensions When it comes to parking, Yaris makes the job easier with its tidy dimensions. Much tighter turning circle Maneuvering in tight spaces often comes down to inches, but Yaris gives the driver a turning circle over three feet tighter. Bigger back seat Despite its nimble size, Yaris has a rear seat that is much more accommodating. The Fiesta’s rear seat seems cramped by comparison. SURPRISING SAFETY FEATURES Subcompact buyers are becoming more discerning, and Yaris steps up with a full list of standard safety features. More airbag technology 1 Yaris comes standard with nine airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag and driver and front-passenger seat cushion airbags. Fiesta only comes with seven airbags. Full suite of traction aids With its Star Safety System , Yaris is fully competitive with any vehicle in the class. The Ford Fiesta is one of the new kids on the subcompact block and, as is often the case for newcomers, it’s getting plenty of attention. In reality, this model is four years old, having made its debut in Europe in 2008. Ford only made slight variations to bring the Fiesta to these shores, such as different tires, a slightly more powerful engine and a sedan body style that sells alongside the 5-door. Still, the Fiesta is a serious competitor for Yaris, giving Ford a fun-to-drive entry with European styling, athletic handling and appealing extra-cost options. The new Yaris counters with its own global pedigree. The previous model was the only vehicle to simultaneously hold both the European Car of the Year and Japan Car of the Year titles. And more than a million units have been sold since it made its European debut in 1999. And now, with the all-new Yaris, there is much more to talk about, because Toyota has the latest model in the entry subcompact segment. The Ford Fiesta Hatchback is offered in just two grades, SE and SES. Both are powered by the same 1.6-liter engine mated with a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The primary difference between the two grades is their entertainment systems, with the higher-priced SES incorporating premium audio, Ford’s SYNC® In-car connectivity system as well as Sirius® Satellite Radio. S, SE and SEL sedans are also offered but aren’t covered in this Edge.

Compact exterior dimensions

City streets, tight garages and the coveted parallel parking space—in any urban environment, a car with compact dimensions is a real luxury. And when it comes to the key measure of bumper-to-bumper length, Yaris is a handy half-foot shorter. And yet it has a longer wheelbase and confidence-inspiring wider track.

Much tighter turning circle

Maneuvering in tight spaces often comes down to a matter of mere inches, but Yaris gives the driver an advantage measured in feet when it comes to the turning circle. Yaris can execute an amazingly tight U-turn and thread its way through city streets like few other cars on the road.

bigger back seat

Despite its nimble size, Yaris has a rear seat that is much more accommodating. In particular, the tight leg room and shoulder room in the back of the Fiesta may cause customers to reconsider the Ford. More than two additional inches of leg and shoulder room is more important than it sounds.

More airbag technology1

At first glance, Fiesta has an impressive array of airbags, because unlike many subcompacts, it adds a driver’s knee bag. But Yaris goes one step further and adds front seat cushion airbags, too.

With its comprehensive Star Safety System™, Yaris is fully competitive with any vehicle in the class. Whether it’s driving on slippery pavement or making an emergency maneuver on the freeway, modern technology helps the driver remain in control.

Yaris LE 5-door AdvantagesA Closer Look

Superior sound system

Hands down, the Yaris LE has far more audio features, and no car buyer wants a second-class sound system. And yet in the Fiesta SE, most up-level audio features cost extra.

 AUDIO & TELEMATICS ADVANTAGES

 VALUE & PERFORMANCE

Standard telematics

Yaris LE doesn’t just have a well-equipped audio system, it also offers comprehensive telematics features—and again, they are standard. And yet for these features in a Ford Fiesta SE, the buyer will have to spend extra.

Lower curb weight

Weight is the enemy of performance, fuel economy and durability. And less weight means the engine, transmission, tires, brakes and suspension don’t have to work as hard. Plus, a subcompact should feel light on its feet. Yaris does, because it is.

Toyota Care®3

Lower cost of ownership is one of the benefits of an entry subcompact, and Toyota makes a good financial argument by including complimentary factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles, which ever comes first. A Yaris customer can have up to five scheduled maintenance visits.

Standard music streaming

Having the ability to control your compatible iPod® or smart phone music files from the audio system head unit—wirelessly—is a luxury most people won’t expect as a standard feature on an entry subcompact. And as usual, it’s a function Ford charges extra for.

1. All the airbag (AB) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. See your Owner’s Manual for further information/warnings. 2. iPod® is a registered trademark of Apple, Inc. All rights reserved. 3. Covers normal factory scheduled service. Plan is 2 years or 25K miles, whichever comes first. The new Toyota vehicle cannot be part of a rental or commercial fleet, or a livery or taxi vehicle. See plan for complete coverage details. See participating Toyota dealer for details. Roadside assistance is for 2 years unlimited mileage and does not include parts and fluids. 4. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether VSC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. Please see your Owner’s Manual for further details. 5. Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions. 6. Smart Stop Technology operates only in the event of certain simultaneous brake and gas pedal applications. When engaged, the system will reduce engine power to help the brakes bring the vehicle to a stop. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver input can all impact stopping distance. Smart Stop Technology is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving and does not guarantee instant stopping. Please see your Owner’s Manual for further details.
