Memorial Auditorium You may reach a staff member concerning matters regarding the Memorial Auditorium Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:00 pm, by calling 620-326-3323. The Memorial Auditorium has a walking path that is used each week day. It is located on the perimeters of the concourse area in the gym.
Wellington Recreation Commission The WRC is operated through the USD 353. It is governed by five selected residents of Wellington who give their services to the community. The WRC Board holds its regular meetings on the fourth Tuesday of
each month at 7:00 am at the Recreation Center. Residents are invited to attend and are welcome to make suggestions or comments to improve the programs or facilities offered.
Wellington Fitness Center The FC, 620-326-3435 is located on the 2nd floor of the Memorial Auditorium. It is open Mon.-Thurs., 5:30 am-9:00 pm, Fri., 5:30 am-7:00 pm, Sat., 6:00 -12:00 pm & Sun., 1:00 pm-3:00 pm.

Hi/LO FUSION
An energetic, upbeat aerobics class that is sure to get your body mov-
ing with high and low impact movements. A great workout for all
levels of fitness enthusiasts, this class combines cardiovascular train-
ing and toning exercises, for a superior total body workout.
Hi/Lo utilizes a wide range of equipment including kickboxing, resis-
tance bands, and free weights with access the Fitness Center on Sat-
urdays with a prescribed workout.

PERSONAL TRAINING Personal Training consists of one-on-one hourly ses-
sions with the Fitness Center‟s qualified trainers;
Debbie Murphy and Amber Burden. During these
sessions, members are introduced to new exercises,
instructed in proper technique, and given advice on
nutrition. Sessions usually include a cardiovascular
warm-up followed by strength training and ends with
stretching.
Who would benefit from Personal Training?
Everyone! Debbie and Amber can help you gain
speed and strength for a specific sport, or help you
with goals of weight loss or gain. Whatever your goal
is, we will help you achieve it!
5-K TRAINING CAMP
Doing a 5K run can add a new level of challenge
and interest to your exercise program, and is also a
great distance (3.1 miles) for a beginner. Join Airily
as she eases you into this 8 week program. The camp
will include stretches, walking, jogging and running
to prepare you for the Wichita St. Patrick‟s Day
Run/Walk in March! This program will get you fit
and transform you from a couch potato to a runner.

STUDENT SPECIAL
All students, high school and college, may purchase a one month
membership for ONLY $10, to the Fitness Center thru the end of
May! Students must show their current Student ID (or other proof of
current enrollment) when purchasing their memberships at the FC.
Students 14 & 15 years old must have an adult member (18 or older)
with them to work out. 16 year olds may work out alone.

The SilverSneakers Fitness Program is the nation’s
leading exercise program designed exclusively for older
adults. Join our Silver Sneakers instructor, Crystal Dawson stay active
and have fun all at the same time! Move to the music through a
variety of exercises designed to in increase muscular strength,
range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. To find
out more, call the Fitness Center, 326-3435. This class is Free
of charge and held at the Memorial Auditorium.

WHS CHEERLEADING CAMP Join the WHS Cheerleading squad in this fun and
energetic class! Participants will be taught cheers,
chants, stunts, jumps, and dance routines. Partici-
pants need to wear tennis shoes or dancing shoes,
and comfortable clothes. New this year! Class fee
includes a Cheer Camp t-
shirt that will be worn at the
performance.

The class will perform their
routine that they learn at
halftime of the WHS boys basketball game on
Homecoming night, Friday, Feb. 10th. The game

The WRC concession and game room features in-
clude new Xbox 360 Kinect, Wii, PS2‟s, numerous
games, pool tables, a Super Chexx Hockey and air

KID’S CLUB– The Kid‟s Club is the place to be after
school! Kid‟s Club is open for 2nd-5th graders, K-1st gr.
may attend if accompanied by an older sibling. Adult su-
pervision provided. Open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,
& Friday from 3:30-5:00 pm. CLOSED WEDNESDAYS
& Days that USD 353 is not in session.
TEEN CENTER-Is open for Middle School stu-
dents on Tuesdays, from 7:00-9:00 pm. There is the
possibility of additional nights the Teen Center may

We have amazing fitness class
instructors! Debbie Murphy is a Certified Personal Trainer and
fitness instructor with over 30 years of experience at
the Fitness Center. Debbie shares her „wealth of
wellness‟ knowledge for the benefit of her students,
some have been taking her classes for many years.
Sadie Black, CT has been the instructor for the ever
popular Yoga classes, (a 6:00 am morning class has
been added) for the past 4 years. Sadie also instructs
the Gutz & Butz class.
Cindy Tracy came to the WRC in 2011 and fit right
in with our schedule. She enjoys instructing the en-
ergetic Zumba class.
The newest Fitness Instructors are Airily Cornejo
and Doug Bruce. Airily is the instructor for the 5-K
Training course. The 8 week program will train stu-
dents for the Wichita St. Patrick‟s Day Run in
March. Doug is an experienced Karate instructor and
graciously conducts a free Self-Defense Boot Camp
on Mondays and Wednesdays.
There is also a new Personal Trainer on hand for in-
dividual and group personal training,
Amber Burden. Amber was an intern
at the FC this fall, and impressed
clients with her fitness knowledge.
Lastly, making sure our senior citizens
stay limber and active is Silver Sneakers
Instructor, Crystal Dawson. Crystal‟s enthusiasm
make Silver Sneakers fun for all.
REDLINE NIGHT OUT We know that teens need their own space sometimes.
At the night they can enjoy Xbox 360, Wii, music,
snacks and activities with friends their own age.

Red Line Pizza Parties for 6th-8th graders will be

Easter Eggcellent Hunt Grab your flashlights and bring your whole family for this special egg hunt. We‟ll start the evening playing
Easter games with the Easter bunny and as soon as it‟s dark start the hunt. Each egg has been filled with candy

WRC BASEBALL CAMP Get a jump start on the baseball season! Participants will be
part of pitching, hitting, infield, outfield, throwing, and catch-
ing. This camp includes five full hours of fundamentals and

WINTER SOFTBALL CLINIC Get ready to play softball this summer now! Receive proper
mechanics, hitting instruction, multiple hand/eye coordination,
and drills will be stressed to improve your swing from Coach
Tina Nickel. Classes may be combined if they do not maintain
a minimum of six students each.

The City Wide Track Meet will be held on Friday,
May 5th at the Middle School Track Field.
AIR RIFLE This program was a hit last summer so we are bringing it back! Air Rifle will instruct you in the cor-rect and safe way to shoot air rifles. Cost of class includes use of an air rifle, safety goggles, proper handling, care and safety of the gun and shooting at pellet traps, (class will be using animated reset targets set at ten meters). Young shooters will be instructed in the standing, kneeling and prone posi-tions. Parents are welcomed to stay and attend class. At the last day of each session there will be target competitions.

CAL RIPKEN BASEBALL LEAGUE
Cal Ripken baseball is beginning it‟s 5th season here in Wel-
lington. New players and those moving to the next age divi-
sion will participate in the Skill Assessment and then be drafted
to teams by the coaches. Players returning to the same age
division will remain with the team that drafted them the previ-
ous year. A shirt and hat will be provided to all players. A
tournament team is chosen by the coaches at the end of the
season to play at the District Tournament with the opportunity
to move onto state. Coaches are also allowed to organize pre-
season tournament teams consisting “only” of players regis-
tered to play in the Wellington Cal Ripken League during the
regular season. Registration begins January 23. Age deter-
mination date is 04/30/12. Copy of birth certificate is re-
quired.

tals of baseball/softball in two separate leagues, one for boys

SO.) All players bat & play in the field during the entire game.
Games are played at Jefferson Park & each player receives a
shirt and a hat. Registration begins January 23. No Skill
Assessment for Machine Pitch.

BLASTBALL
Are your children too young to play T-ball
but need to get out and play ball? Blastball is
a new non-competitive sport used to teach
kids the basics of hitting and fielding. Blastball will help kids
get a head start on fundamentals and further prepare them for T-
Ball. Don‟t be afraid to sign up to coach; rules are simple, no
practices are required, and the game is fun for everyone.

STROKE REFINEMENT Join the Wellington Swim Team for pre-season training this

WELLINGTON SWIM TEAM Registration is now being taken for Wellington Swim Team.
Swim Team is a member of the Great Plains Swim League and
USA Swimming. Swimmers will compete in weekly swim
