Dr. Mark Foley has served as president of the University of Mobile since 1998 and is the third president of the university since its founding in 1961. During more than a decade of leadership, Dr. Foley has led the move to intentionally integrate faith and learning in all areas of university life, while raising academic standards, building new residence halls, establishing outstand-ing programs such as the Center for Performing Arts, and earning the private Christian university national rankings.

His emphasis on the core values of faith, learning and leadership has extended to all operations of the university, from the classroom to the administrative offices. With these core values in place, the university is committed to graduating confident Christian men and women who have mastered the body of knowledge required by the degree they hold; who know how to think; who know what they believe and why they believe it; who possess the courage to live and work according to those beliefs; who accept responsibility as caretakers of that with which God has entrusted them; and who possess the willingness and skill to use their influence in appropriate and effective ways to change the world around them.

Dr. Foley is a member of the Executive Committee of the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, a past chairman of the Alabama Association of Independent Colleges and Schools, and a member of the Board of Directors of Victory Health Partners and Volunteers of America, Southeast, Inc.

Previously, Dr. Foley was executive vice president of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He holds a bachelor of business administration from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas; and a master of divinity and a doctor of philosophy in psychology and counseling from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is an ordained minister, a former business owner, and has practiced as a professional counselor. His wife, Marilyn, is involved in many univer-sity activities. She holds a bachelor of science in education from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, and is a former classroom educator.

The Foleys have two children and two granddaughters. Their daughter, Molly, is married to Doug Sawyer, an accoun-tant in Georgia, and they have two daughters, Avery and Abby. Their son, Rob, and his wife, Leah, reside in Colorado. Rob is on the staff of Denver Theological Seminary and Leah is a registered nurse.

After helping the University of Mobile to a second-place finish at the 2008 NAIA National Championships and a trip to the 2011 tournament, McCormick will begin her fifth season at the helm of the University of Mobile softball program. She has guided the Lady Rams to a 144-59 mark.

McCormick is a 1997 graduate of the University of Mobile and became the softball program’s first three-time NAIA All-American. After playing volleyball at Mississippi College for two years, she transferred to play softball at UM in 1993. In 1996, McCormick was named GCAC Player of the Year. McCormick earned both her bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and her master’s degree in education from UM.

McCormick was also an integral part of the development of the Spring Hill program during the first three years. She helped lead the inaugu-ral team to a Top 25 ranking in 1998, and in the second season helped lead the team to a 3rd place finish at the NAIA National Championship.

McCormick’s other experiences include executive director of the North Mobile YMCA, management with the United Parcel Service, and soft-ball coach at Satsuma High School.

The Satsuma, AL native is married to UM graduate Ken McCormick.

BJ Darawich will begin his second season as an assistant coach with the University of Mobile softball program.

He graduated from Alabama with a BS in education in 2010. At Mobile, he oversees all aspects of the team’s hitting and serves as 1st base coach during games.

The Satsuma native has amassed coaching experience at the high school and summer ball level. Serving as an assistant on the staffs of Holy Spirit HS and American Christian Academy, Darawich helped lead both programs to the State Tournament and both teams won 25-plus contests.

Darawich also served as head coach of the Tuscaloosa Tide 95 summer ball team and led the squad to a 5th place finish at the USFA World Series.
