Spring and Fall of 2012EDG Interior Architecture and Design San Rafael, CA Internship Responsibilities: organizing materials library, writing specifications, ordering samples, selecting finishes and furnishings, putting together presentations and binders.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Modular Sculptural Piece with possible seating configurations. This project was produced as a group project. 20 people created 20 modular units. DESIGN CONCERNS: Create a soft undulating movement of strings and form that can be felt as one walks past the piece. Joints, Seating Proportions, Comfort and Durability, Transition between individual units.

EXERCISE: These studies all deal with analyzing and representing a space within the D.A.A.P. college (designed by Peter Eisenman) at UC. This space is located at the very end of a grand stair.
ABSTRACT SPATIAL STUDIES
Design Concerns: Balance, Movement, Contrast Unity and a detailed understanding of the subject matter in question. MEDIA: Graphite, Acrylic Paint, Paper.
FINE ART
LOCATION: Leh, India - A city nestled within the Himalayan Mountains. PROGRAM: Hiker’s Lodge. 8 small guest rooms (fits 1-2 guests). 4 large guest rooms (2-4 guests). Reception Building with Bar, Lounge and Roof Dining. 6 Showers and 2 Rest Rooms. Mountain path with lookouts. CLIENT: Young Backpackers (25-40 years of age) with the desire to experience all of the world that they can. The dedicated wanderers, drawn to a place so that they may take it in. To them hiking is not about conquering the mountain: it is about being in the mountains.

DESIGN CONCERNS: Using primarily local materials: granite, mud, fabric, limited wood. Use of daylight and candlelight. Accommodating for backpacks. Questioning Routine.
CONCEPT: This project focuses on evoking a feeling of “immersion” through form, texture and spatial progression. Here, Immersion is defined as a connectivity one feels with not only the space around them, but also this space in relation to the larger world and he individual’s knowledge and experience.

CONCEPT: This project utilized an idea of “rippling relationships” to create spaces and elements that flow off of one another and echo each other like ripples.
PROGRAM: An Apartment. 1 Master Bed (with walk in closet), 1 Guest Bed, 2 Bath, 1 laundry, 2 offices, 1 kitchen, 1 dining, 1 exercise, 2 lounge, 1 outdoor lounge and 1 mechanical closet.

“Outdoor” Lounge Bath
PROGRAM: Office space. Pre-existing, two-level building shell and structure. 80 employees in teams of 8 and 4. 9 private offices. 7 meeting rooms of varying sizes. Reception area and Dining Space.

Standard Custom Steel Case, OFFICE Herman Miller’s Ceo-Cube and Everywhere Table
DESIGN CONCERNS: Encourage Collaboration. Integrate Color into the workplace without overwhelming employees. Open guest circulation. Sustainability: A wall panel system was used rather than dry wall (product: DIRT).
CONCEPT: Celebrating the Basic and Simple Elements that create a Whole. Each basic desk, room, wall panel, acoustical panel etc. has been accented.
