ATTENTION ALL EXHIBITORSIn an endeavour to continue to make the South Australian Dairy Awards relevant to the Industry,

classes are reviewed annually.Suggestions for alterations to the 2013 South Australian Dairy Awards Prize Schedule should be

submitted in writing by the end of September.

The winners of the SA Dairy Awards will be announced at The SA Dairy Awards Gala Dinner to be held in the Ridley Pavilion, Adelaide Showground on Tuesday 14 August 2012. This is the event of the year for the Dairy Industry and will give you an opportunity to mix with colleagues and friends whilst enjoying a night of fun and entertainment. The ticket cost will include a 3 course meal, drinks and entertainment. A copy of the General Regulations may be obtained from the Society’s website (www.theshow.com.au) or upon request from the Society’s Administration Office.

PAYMENT OF FEESWhenpayingfeesbychequeorcreditcard,exhibitors must ensure that sufficient funds are available at the time of entry. Failure to do so may result in non-acceptance of entries.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIESExhibitorsarepermittedtomakenomorethan 5entriesperclass.Exhibitsmustbemanufacturedin Australia by the exhibitor. In classes 1-30, exhibits must be manufactured with Bovine Milk, (excluding classes 12, and 30 for Non-Bovine Milk.)In all Classes except Best Innovative Dairy Product, entries shall consist of 1 or more retail units aggregating between 500 grams or millilitres and approximately 2kgs or litres in quantity.

1. All exhibits (Class 1-30) shall comply with the relevant requirements of Food Standards 1.6.2 and 2.5.4 of the FSANZ.

2. All entries from Dairy Processor companies entering the Dairy products for the SA Dairy Awards (Classes 1-30) should be accredited with a relevant Dairy Authority or will be required to supply HACCP accreditation prior to the product being judged.

3. TheExhibitorshouldbethemanufacturerofthe product entered. Products manufactured by another busines may be entered but must be entered under the name of the manufacturing company.

LABELLING OF EXHIBITS (ALL CLASSES)The outside of each container, package etc in which any exhibit or exhibits are delivered or consigned for judging shall bear a label clearly identifying the class number(s) and entry number(s) of each exhibit contained therein. Eachindividualexhibitshallhaveattachedoradjacent to it the label supplied by this Society, setting out the class number and exhibit number.Any exhibit not clearly identified shall be disqualified by the stewards prior to judging. For uniformity in presenting exhibits to the judges the Society’s labels shall be left on or adjacent to each exhibit.

PRIZES AND AWARDSA first prize of $40 or more will be awarded in each class unless no entry is of sufficient quality. All entries gaining 18 points or more will receive gold medal awards and those gaining 16 or 17.9 points will receive silver medal awards. RA&HS sashes will be awarded to all champion winners

Failure to do either of the above will cause the RA&HS to withhold 48.5% of your prize money in accordance with Australian tax legislation.

The RA&HS is not a tax consultant and therefore assumes no liability for actions taken as a result of these guidelines. In any instances where an entrant or sponsor is uncertain of the tax implications of their involvement, they should consult their own accountant or tax advisor.

Please note that cheques will be made out in the name of the exhibitor. If you do not have an account in the name you have entered under, you willneedtobepaidviaEFT.

To assist the Society, would you please ensure cheques are deposited promptly into a bank account. Replacement prize cheques will be issued up to 31 December 2012, however a fee of $10 may be charged. If the cheque to be replaced is not returned then an additional fee will be charged to cover the cost of cancellation. Any concerns regarding prize money must be raised with the Society by 31 December.

SUPPLY OF EXHIBITSAll exhibits will remain the property of the RA&HS.The winner of the Champion Cheese may be requested to supply a quantity of the winning product for use for judging and industry tastings duringtheRoyalAdelaideWineShow.TheSociety requests that this product is provided at wholesale price or less. Acknowledgement of supply will be made during these events.

DUMMIESDuring the Show a display will feature prize winning produce and trophies. As this will be unrefrigerated, it is required that dummy packs, bearing normal retail brands, be provided. These should represent the product as it is normally marketed to the public.Exhibitorsmayberequiredtoprovideaselectionof dummies for special displays featuring championship winners. The display will be located in the Dairy Foods Hall, Milk Bar, WesternendofKingsway.

JUDGINGThe Judges may request the Society to have tests done on any entry suspected of not complying with class conditions or the Food Standards Code. At least 2 Judges and 2 Stewards must attend the judging unless the attendance of fewer personnel is approved by the Dairy Products Committee.

PUBLICITY AND ADVERTISINGResults of these competitions will be released to the media on 14 August 2012. No prior publicity or advertising is permitted.

SPECIAL AWARDSTHE BRENTON HIGGINS MEMORIAL AWARD

for EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE TO THE DAIRY INDUSTRY

In memory of the late Brenton Higgins AM, this award has been created to recognise significant effort, service and contribution to the dairy industry. Nominations will be requested from the DIAA and SADA and the industry in general and will be judged by industry personnel serving on the Dairy

Best Innovative Dairy Product. 1.ExhibitsmustbeinthehandsoftheRoyal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of South Australia Inc, PO Box 40, Goodwood, SA 5034, by 11 July 2012. 2.Eachexhibitmustrelatetoaproductwhich is actually being marketed, and has been introduced into the Australian market, within the twelve months preceding the opening day of the Show. It need not be a consumer product , it can be an ingredient or a non-food application. The product itself is not required to be submitted, but may also be entered in another class within the prize schedule.

3.Eachexhibitmustbeintheformofaone or two page statement and may be accompanied by specimens of labels or packages. The statement must describe the product, giving all compositional and nutritional information except any matter of a confidential nature. Other information should include the intended uses of the product, especially where it is not a consumer item, its benefits to the dairy industry in general, and major reasons for its development, such as results of market research or perceived needs of the industry or consumers. Entriesarerestrictedtofourperclassfromeachexhibitor. ExhibitsmustbemanufacturedinAustraliabytheexhibitor. Exhibitorsmustbecommercialmanufacturersofchocolate. All exhibits must be manufactured with Bovine milk (excluding dark chocolate). Note: For consumer packs, the presentation of the pack will also be taken into consideration under Presentation. All entries should comply with the appropriate provisions of the Australian Food Standards Code (which specifies minimum milk contents for milk chocolate). The dairy components should be of Australian origin. Entrieswillbeacceptedonlyfromtheoriginalmanufactureroftheentry.Theywillnotbeacceptedfrom wholesalers, retailers or others. As judging places emphasis on the product rather than the pack, entries of the same product will not be accepted in more than one packaging type. Judges reserve the right to purchase commercial samples and compare same to exhibits, any significant variation may result in disqualification or downgrading of points. All entries should be as per a normal production run. Chocolate/Compound - all entries are limited to chocolate as defined in the Australian Food Standards Codes i.e. compound chocolate and products made with compounded chocolate will not be accepted.
