Transcript of 2012 CSUF Recruitment: Transfer Brochure
What are the admission requirements? It’s important to note that Cal State Fullerton strictly enforces
stated application deadlines throughout the admissions process.
Students who miss a stated deadline may have their application
cancelled or their admission rescinded.
To meet minimum eligibility for admission to the California State
University, you must meet all of the following requirements*:
n 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units); a maximum
of 70 transferable semester (105 quarter) units from a community
college may be used toward completion of a degree.
n A minimum of 30 semester units (45 quarter units) in CSU-
approved general education coursework with grades of C or
better. The 30 units must include the “Golden Four” requirements
with grades of C or better OR the Intersegmental General Education
Transfer Curriculum (IGETC). The “Golden Four” requirements are:
Oral Communication
Written Communication
Critical Thinking
Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning
n California residents must have a minimum cumulative grade point
average (GPA) of 2.0 (C) or better in all transferable units attempted.
Outside of the local admissions area, which includes all Orange
County community colleges, the GPA requirement will be higher.
Since we are an impacted campus, even applicants from the
local admissions area will be required to meet a higher GPA
requirement than the minimum 2.0 requirement. To ensure a fair
process for all applicants, the GPA requirement will not be determined
until after the initial filing period is over. It will be based on the number
of applications received, the competitiveness of the pool, and the
number of seats available.
n Good academic standing at the last college or university attended.
*Because Cal State Fullerton is an impacted campus across all majors,
the GPA of admitted students exceeds the CSU minimum.
WELCOME.Getting ready to transfer to Cal State Fullerton? You’ve made an excellent choice, one that will enhance
your ability to compete and succeed beyond college. At Cal State Fullerton, you can take advantage of
an exceptional learning environment and a full range of opportunities to gain the preparation you need
and an edge for what’s next, whether it’s attending grad school or launching your career. Applying to
Cal State Fullerton is a competitive process, so it’s important to be well-prepared academically and
begin planning early to ensure a smooth transition.
What do I need to know about impaction?Cal State Fullerton is an impacted campus at the transfer level, which means that there are
more applications for our campus than we can accommodate. In order to ensure that capacity is
not exceeded and that we can provide a high-quality education to those we admit, we need to
apply more rigorous standards to the transfer applicant pool. This means that all transfer
applicants, whether in our local admissions area or outside the local admissions area,
must anticipate meeting higher levels of competition than required by minimum CSU eligibility.
In fact, local area students are not guaranteed admission if they only meet minimum eligibility.
How can I get involved on campus?Cal State Fullerton offers a rich and rewarding college experience –
there’s something for everyone – and you choose how to make the
most of it. More than 200 clubs and organizations offer programs and
activities, including academic and honors, social and professional, or
cultural or recreational to suit your needs. If you’re interested in learning
new skills, taking on leadership roles or volunteering for service
projects, then student government, the Student Leadership Institute
and our Center for Internships and Community Engagement offer
more choices for involvement.
Who can advise me about the transfer process?Cal State Fullerton’s Transfer Center provides peer advising,
admissions information, CSU application assistance and campus

and campus referrals. Appointments may be arranged through the
transfer centers at participating community colleges.
What services are available for veterans?Cal State Fullerton’s Veterans Student Services assists veterans with
successfully transitioning from military service and making the most of
their experience on campus. VSS is committed to providing veterans with
personalized services from orientation through graduation that include
guidance, support services and resources. Our Student Veterans
Association also enhances students’ experiences through camaraderie,
networking and advocacy. In addition, our Veterans Certification with

G.I. Bill benefits.
Is a Transfer Student Orientation Session mandatory?Yes. Three types of sessions are available: full-day, half-day
and online. For more information, call 657-278-2501, or
visit fullerton.edu/orientation.
Can I also enroll at Cal State Fullerton’s Irvine Campus?Yes! In addition to taking classes at the main campus, you may
enroll at our Irvine Campus. Courses are taught by Cal State Fullerton
faculty and are of the same high academic quality as courses offered
at the main campus. What’s more, on both campuses, you have
access to outstanding student support services. For more information,
including a list of available majors and graduate programs, visit
fullerton.edu/IrvineCampus.
How much are tuition and fees? For the 2012-13 year, registration and tuition fees for California
residents are:
n $4,168 per year for students enrolling at the university part-time
(6 units or less).
n $6,676 per year for those who enroll full-time (7 or more units).
For non-California residents, tuition fees are:
n $372 per semester unit in addition to basic registration
and tuition fees.
*Please note that fees are subject to change. The CSU makes every effort to keep student
costs to a minimum. However, fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may
need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. CSU has reserved the right, even
after initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify listed fees, without notice, until
the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun.
How do I apply for financial aid?Cal State Fullerton offers many financial aid programs. To be eligible,
you must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
March 2 is the annual deadline for California state aid and the priority
date for other programs. For more information, visit www.FAFSA.ed.gov
