The cold weather is upon us and it just seemed like yesterday that it was the hottest week on record here in Edmond during my first week on the job. What a fun way to get acclimated to Oklahoma weather! It has been a thrilling transition discovering what is taking place in the parks and recreation department and seeing the potential within our system as Edmond continues to grow.

We have many great activities and events offered to you and your family this winter. New classes in this guide are sure to get you through the holiday season with topics that include: Conflict Resolution, Photo classes to record your holiday memories, Bully Awareness, Healthy Cooking by Integris and Etiquette classes for all. Don’t forget our crafts, crafts, crafts! This session we will have beading and wire classes, holiday decorations to decorate your home or gift to family, friends and your favorite teachers, our popular bisque painting and so much more. Don’t forget the golf course and tennis center are open where you can purchase gift certificates and lessons, both make great gifts. Bundle-up and visit those sites for exercise and an enjoyable social outing.

After graduating from the University of Missouri, the duration of my career has been in Texas where I was fortunate to be involved in high quality programs and outstanding parks and recreation facilities. I am eager to bring these experiences to Edmond as we continue to build a “premier parks and recreation system” with a focus on customer loyalty. I have seen that this emphasis on high quality attracts new residents, retains businesses and creates revenue opportunities for us all.

With family in the area and with my wife being an OSU alumnus the move north made per-fect sense for us. We are excited to become part of the Edmond community, root on local sports teams and explore the area. If there is anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Park & Recreation Policies

refund & cancellation Policy• A refund will only be issued if a class is cancelled by the department or the student withdraws at least 3 days prior to the start date of the class, less a $5 processing fee per class on all Programs of $10 or more.

• Students who withdraw from a class less than 72 hours prior to the start date of the class will receive a recreation Program credit which may be applied to future recreation Programs, less a $5 processing fee per class. In general, no refunds or credits will be issued from the start date of a class.

• Students who are dissatisfied with a Program for any reason must complete a Program survey in order for improvement of Programs to be made.

• Credits and refunds will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the Recreation Program Coordinator.

• Credits expire one year from the date issued.

• The above policy applies only to our fee–based recreation Programs and not to: KickingBird Tennis, Pelican Bay Aquatic Center, KickingBird Golf Club, Farmer’s Market, MAC or pavilion rentals, special events or Arcadia Lake.

Program Tardiness PolicyPrograms will start promptly; we do not wait for late arrivals. If an instructor shows up for their class and no students are present, they are only required to wait 20 minutes before leaving. No refunds or credits issued once the class has started.

Last Minute cancellation Policy Our instructors are dedicated to fulfilling each class they teach. However, they are also human and have emergencies that arise in their day–to–day lives. Should a last minute cancellation arise, we have developed the following policies. Once Edmond Parks & Recreation receives notification from an instructor they will not be able to make a class, all registered participants will be contacted via the contact information listed on the participant’s account.

For all one–time classesThe instructor will be required to schedule a make–up class on a day and time similar to the regularly scheduled time. If that is not possible, we will work with both the instructor and registered participants to come up with a “majority rules” day and time.

For all series and repetitive classesDue to availability constraints, many times it is not feasible to have a make–up class. Should an instructor have a last minute cancellation, all participants will receive a gift certificate/credit voucher for the value of the day the class is cancelled.

Example: If a class for $60 meets twice a week for four weeks, totaling eight classes, each registered participant will receive a gift certificate/credit voucher for $7.50 to be used on a future Edmond Parks and Recreation class.
