From the Pastor’s Desk

Merry Christmas as the Church celebrates the

Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph

this Sunday following Christmas. I pray for God’s

Blessings upon our families here in the Parish. We

have been hearing much about our faith life and our

family life this year, especially with the visit of Pope

Francis in September to celebrate the World Meeting

of Families. I think it is important to note that

today we celebrate the Holy Family and not the

Perfect Family. We are called to be Holy, not

perfect. So if you feel a little down when the

Church references the Holy Family and think to

yourself about problems your family may face or is

dealing with let me say that you are not alone. Every

family faces some struggles and worries because we

are human. Moms and Dads and children and those

in our extended family fall prey to human weakness.

At times we say and do things that we later regret.

Yes, we are not perfect, but we are called to be holy.

The best way to grow in holiness is to be merciful.

In this Year of Mercy I pray the gift of mercy enters

your family. Forgive past hurts. Accept an apology

and let go of old grudges. As St. Paul urges, “Be

compassionate to one another, show kindness,

humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with one

another. Forgive one another, just as the Lord as

forgiven you.” (Col 3:12-21). I pray the Holy

Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph guards and

protect your family this year.

If there were times you ‘didn’t understand’ your children or felt ‘anxious’ about their behavior so did Mary and Joseph. Parenting is tough but it is also the stuff of holiness. STEWARDS LOVE FAMILY Feast of the Holy Family “See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1A) During this season of giving, let us remember the most important gift we have received – being children of God. As God’s children, it’s important that as Stewards we express our love for others as well. Tell your spouse, children and other family members and friends that you love them, frequently.

Catholic faith.

Feliz Navidad mientras que la iglesia celebra la Fiesta

de la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, Maria y José en este

domingo siguiendo la Navidad. Yo le pido a Dios su

bendición para nuestras familias de la parroquia. Hemos

estado escuchando mucho sobre la vida de fe y nuestra

familia en este año, especialmente con la visita del Papa

Francisco en Septiembre para celebrar la Reunión

Mundial de Familias. Yo pienso que es importante que

notemos que hoy Nosotros celebramos la Sagrada

Familia y no a la Familia Perfecta. Somos llamados a

ser Santos, no perfectos. Así que si te sientes un poco

desanimado cuando la iglesia hace referencias a la

Sagrada Familia y pienses sobre problemas que tu

familia está pasando déjame decirte que no estás solo.

Todas las familias pasan dificultades y preocupaciones

por que somos humanos. Mamás y Papás y Niños y

parientes caemos presos de debilidad humana. Algunas

veces decimos y hacemos cosas de las que después nos

arrepentimos. Si, nosotros no somos perfectos, pero

somos llamados a ser Santos. La mejor manera de crecer

en Santidad es siendo misericordiosos. En este Año de

Misericordia Yo rezo por el regalo de misericordia entre

tu familia. Perdona heridas pasadas. Acepta una disculpa

y deja ir viejos rencores. Como nos urge San Pablo,

“Tengan compasión uno a otro, humildad, gentileza y

paciencia. Ayúdense unos a otros. Perdónese unos a

otros, así como Dios nos perdona.” (Col 3:12-21). Yo le

pido a la Sagrada Familia de Jesús, Maria y José guarde y

proteja a tu familia este año.

UNA PERSPECTIVA DE FAMILIA Sagrada Familia El Evangelio hoy muestra que Maria y José no eran padres ‘perfectos.’ Si alguna vez has estado ‘deslumbrado’ ‘asombrado’ de lo que salió de la boca de tu niño, entonces estas en buena compañía. Si abecés no entiendes a tu niño o te sentiste ‘ansioso’ por su comportamiento también Maria y José. Ser padre es difícil pero es también cosa de santidad. FIESTA DE LA SAGRADA FAMILIA "¡Fíjense qué gran amor nos ha dado el Padre, que se nos llame hijos de Dios! ¡Y lo somos!" (1 Juan 3:1) Durante esta temporada de dar, recordemos cual es el regalo más importante que hemos recibido - ser hijos de Dios. Como tal, es importante que expresemos nuestro amor por los demás también. Dígale a su pareja, hijos y otros familiares y amigos que los ama, con frecuencia.
