Reviewed by Peter CarolineBeing a responsible citizen, I listened to the

sage advice of our Vice President, “Buy a shotgun.Fire two rounds through the front door.” I wasn’ttoo clear on who would replace the door, or cleanup the mess on theporch, but I certainlywouldn’t argue withthe choice of a shot-gun as one compo-nent of a completehome defense battery.And I have just testedone strong contender.

The Kel-Tec KSGbullpup 12-gaugepump gun has beenaround for a couple ofyears, and has a lotgoing for it. First, it’sjust a bit over 26 inch-es long, making itquite maneuverableeven in tight quarters.It has dual, side-by-side magazines, with atotal capacity of6+6+1 rounds of 3” shells. It weighs just underseven pounds, has an 18.5” barrel and Picatinnyrails both on top of the barrel and on the bottomof the forend. The KSG also features ambidextrous

front and rear attachment points for a sling, and a1-1/4” nylon sling is included.

The concept of a high-capacity shotgun is notnew. Back in the 1980s, there was a South Africandesign, called the Striker, that featured a 12-round

drum magazine and afolding stock. It wasan imposing-looking,albeit cumbersomecontraption, and theATF decided that itwas scary enough tobe classified as a“destructive device.”The Striker’s Americancounterpart, theCobray Street Sweep-er, also required a$200 federal taxstamp for legal owner-ship. Kel-Tec’s KSG,by contrast, is quitecompact, easy to han-dle and, so far,requires no specialpermit or tax for pur-chase and use.

I’ll have to admit, when I first took the KSG tothe range, I was a bit apprehensive. My earlier12-gauge guns, including a Winchester Model1897, a Ruger O/U, and a Chinese hammer dou-

THE KEL-TEC KSGble coach gun, were not pleasant guns to shoot.I’m not particularly recoil-averse (my wife saysthe correct term is “numb”), but I’m far morecomfortable with a 16-, 20- or 28-gauge. With 2-3/4” field loads, the KSG was surprisingly com-fortable. The 3” loads get your attention, but arestill quite manageable. The biggest surprise wereAguila’s 1-3/4” Minishells. Yes, they actuallyfunction through the KSG’s action and, best ofall; you can load up to 12 of them in each maga-zine tube, giving a total capacity of 12+12+1!Recoil with the Aguilas is very mild, making thisa house gun that everyone in the house can usewith no fear or trepidation.

The KSG is quite easy and instinctive to use.The unloaded center of gravity is directly over thegrip assembly. Shells are loaded into the two mag-azine tubes from underneath, and the forend travelis only 4.1”. It works like any conventional pumpshotgun, with one exception: after you’ve fired allthe shells in one magazine tube, you reach under-neath, flip the magazine selector to the other tube,and you’re once again in business. Although thepump action is quite smooth, I fitted a vertical

foregrip on the lower rail, which makes the actioneven faster and easier. I also attached front andrear flip-up sights to the upper rail, although a reddot or laser sight would work equally well.

Disassembly and cleaning of the KSG is easy,once you’ve read the instruction manual. Andthis manual is a pleasure to read. It is simple,straightforward and very well illustrated withcolor photographs and illustrations. The guncomes with a lifetime warranty, and Kel-Tec hasan excellent and well-deserved reputation forprompt service on their warranty work. Manufac-turer’s recommended retail price for the Kel-TecKSG is $1,197. In normal times, the street priceon most guns is less than MSRP. Lately, as we areall aware, the situation has changed and, likeARs, AKs, etc., the KSG is being bid up to somereally stupid high prices on the on-line auctionsites. If you can get hold of one, new or used,without breaking the bank, I say go for it!

Dillon’s RL 550B has long worn the title of “TheWorld’s Most Versatile Progressive Reloader,” and

stripping it down to its most basic form – Dillon’s BL(Basic Loader) 550 – adds a whole new dimensionof versatility for the shooter/hunter who needs tofeed several rifles.

The BL 550 is essentially an RL 550B without theautomatic priming and powder systems. By Brian Dervin Dillon, Ph.D.Anybody who shoots pistols will probably agree

that the best semi-automatic ever made is theModel 1911 .45 ACP. It is the right gun, in the cor-rect caliber. Exactly one hundred years ago, mygrandfather, William T. Dillon (1869-1938) wasissued a first-generation Model 1911. The pistol hasremained in the family ever since. The gun, with afive-digit serial number, was made in November1912, the very first year of manufacture. Contrary topopular belief, no Model 1911s were actually madein 1911. It came in a Rock Island Arsenal cavalryswivel holster dated 1913. The swivel was so thatthe pistol would hang straight while you weremounted. My grandfather inked his initials and thepistol’s serial number inside the holster flap, wherethey are still visible.

W. T. Dillon was a six-foot, one-inch tall Mus-tang officer who spoke four different languages(English, German, French and Spanish) and foughton four different continents (Asia, Africa, theAmericas and Europe). He did this under three dif-ferent names, in three different military organiza-tions, laundering his identity with each successiveenlistment. He was seven years old when Custerbit the big one at the Little Bighorn. His father wasan Irish corporal and color bearer of the 16th U.S.Infantry who survived being shot five times at theBattle of Stones River, Tennessee, and subsequent-ly being left for dead on the battlefield for threedays afterwards. The lucky one, he was the onlyone of four Irish brothers in the Union Army notkilled in the Civil War.

My grandfather enlisted as a private in Compa-ny A, 1st California Volunteer Infantry Regiment in

May, 1898, in San Francisco, for the Spanish-Amer-ican War. He spent more than a year in the Philip-pines, fighting first the Spaniards, then the Filipinosduring the subsequent Insurrection. Mustered outin 1899, he immediately took ship for South Africa,where he joined an Orange Free State Boer Com-mando. Grandpa fought against the British as amounted guerilla during the first five months of theBoer War. This was the only place on the planetwhere an Irishman could shoot at Englishmen andget away with it. Dillon returned to the Philippinesin the late spring of 1900, now enlisting in theField Artillery as a regular private. He was just intime to be sent, as part of Reilly’s Battery, to Chinafor the relief of the Peking Legation. The secondAmerican over the wall at Tientsin, he also helpedblow down the gates of Peking with his 3.2-inchhorse-drawn cannon. Afterwards, he was sent backto the Philippines.

In 1902, he was promoted to Sergeant, and sentto the San Francisco Presidio, joining the 61stCompany of the brand-new Coast Artillery. His unitscored the first-ever perfect score for a big-gun (12inch) battery that same year. He helped build FortsBaker and Barry across the Golden Gate. In 1906he ran one of the dynamite squads blowing upbuildings in San Francisco ahead of the post-earth-quake fires. He then served in Cuba, again in thePhilippines, and in 1910 was made First Sergeantof the 61st C.A.C. For the next three years was thegun captain at Battery Spencer, the highest-scoringbig gun battery in the United States. BatterySpencer still remains, high atop the bluff, nowoverlooking the north tower of the much laterGolden Gate Bridge.

In 1914, as a response to the Mexican Revolu-tion, simmering for the previous three years, mygrandfather was sent to the Mexican Border as theFirst Sergeant of the First Provisional Field Artillery.This was the first time grandpa’s .45 ACP saw dutyin a field campaign. Dillon was once again running3.2-inch horse-drawn field pieces. A seconddeployment on the border in 1916 was interruptedwhen he was jumped from the enlisted ranks andmade a Captain early in 1917. With our entry toWWI, granddad was made the San Francisco Pre-sidio Ordnance Officer, then the Company Com-mander of the 67th Coast Artillery, and sent toFrance. His .45 ACP, now six years old, went withhim across the Atlantic.

Captain Dillon,because of his languageskills, was made a liai-son artillery officer toour French allies, andcommanded railroadguns shelling Germanpositions. During a visitto a French munitionsdepot, the base cameunder attack from Ger-man twin-enginedbombers. All the Frenchtroops ran away, leavinggranddad the only manstanding. So, with aFrench, stick-fedHotchkiss machine gun,he shot down one Ger-man bomber, put holesin all the others, andsent them back over theGerman Border. For thishe was awarded theCroix de Guerre. Later,during an artillery bom-bardment, he was blownout of his motorcyclesidecar, unconsciousinto a ditch full of poison gas. He would spendmuch of the rest of his life in the Letterman HospitalGas Ward. Grandpa was given a battlefield promo-tion to Lieutenant Colonel, and also decorated byour Belgian and Russian allies. The British were stillmad about his Boer War service, so no medal fromthe Limeys. After the Armistice, he was bumpedback down to Captain, but made the Ordnance offi-cer of the St. Nazaire outshipment depot, where heserved for another half-year.

In September 1919, at Pershing’s request, Cap-tain Dillon brought back a shipload (2700 tons) ofGerman War loot and presented it to the Smithson-ian Institution. He was himself presented to theHouse of Representatives by Congressman JuliusKahn and to the Senate by Senator Hiram Johnsonas one of California’s premier war heroes. He then

moved on to Fort Lewis, Washington, as the Com-mander of the 59th Company, Coast Artillery, nowrunning 8-inch, tractor-pulled, howitzers. Grandpaclosed out his military career as the caretaker com-mander of his old post, Fort Baker, when it was putinto mothballs as part of the nationwide militarydrawdown, also serving with the Inspector Gener-al’s Department at west coast army bases.

Dillon fathered four sons, all born either at theSan Francisco Presidio, or at home in Sausalito. Inthe 1920s and early ‘30s he taught them all to shoothis .45 by getting mess hall garbage from the MarinForts or the Presidio and “chumming” Great Whitesharks off the Fort Baker pier. The lanyard loop on

the pistol and magazinecame in handy while theDillon boys were shoot-ing sharks through theiropen mouths in SanFrancisco Bay. WhenCaptain Dillon died in1938, he was buried inuniform at the San Fran-cisco Presidio Cemetery.Before the casket wasclosed, his medals andribbons were removed,and given to my grand-mother. His 1911 .45was given to my uncleJohn A. Dillon (1915-2001), who shortly after-wards followed in hisfather’s footsteps bybecoming a second-gen-eration Mustang.

Drafted into the CoastArtillery as a privateearly in 1941, my UncleJack made Sergeant thatsame summer. He wasthe second Dillon non-com to carry the old1911 on active duty.

After the American entry to World War II at the endof the year, Jack Dillon was jumped from the ranks,sent to OCS and made an officer. Leaving theartillery for armor, Lieutenant Jack Dillon trainedwith Patton in the California desert, then went over-seas, taking his father’s 1911 .45 on its second tripacross the Atlantic.

Promoted to Captain, Uncle Jack served as leadscout in front of the Patton’s tanks, spotting enemypositions and drawing enemy fire from a jeep. Hecarried four guns: his father’s .45 Colt, now in atanker’s shoulder holster, a captured “hideout”9mm Luger, a BAR with recoil washers removed tocut down its rate of fire, and a captured GermanMP-43 submachine gun. Jack Dillon was woundedin action twice, and went AWOL from the hospital

level will do NOTHING to stop the vio-lence. The politicians fail to understand

But the authorsare missing the target. They are preaching to the choir.Most of the people reading The Blue Press and thosewho’ve read this article are supporters of the SecondAmendment to various degrees. The correct targets are thenon-firearms owner, those who don’t vote because “myvote don’t count,” those whose only source of news is thebiased media, and those whose ideals are only slightlyleft/liberal slanted. Sizing/Depriming DieOur sizing/depriming dies feature a unique “floating

decap assembly” with a snap spring that throws the spentprimer off the pin and eliminates the problem of primer“draw back” that often occurs when decapping militarybrass. The primary feature of Dillon’s size die design – thelong, tapered carbide ring with a radiused opening –remains unchanged.

That radiused opening, and its importance to progressivereloading, is one of the reasons why our seat and crimp diesare better. We found a way of manufacturing these dies thathas enabled us to make the lead-in radius even bigger! Thebigger radius makes progressive loading with our equipmenteven smoother – but that’s still only a part of the story.

Bullet Seating DieOur new quick-disassembly seat die allows the user to

disassemble and clean the seat die without losing adjustment.In this manner, bullet lube and shavings can be quicklyremoved from the die, thereby guaranteeing a constant seat-ing depth. We’ve incorporated a “flip-flop” seating stem and aclip that enables you to remove the die insert and change theseating stem from round nose to semi-wadcutter withoutunscrewing a seating stem out of the die body. We’ve alwaysincluded both types of seating stems, but the new double-ended design makes it a simple matter to remove a pin,reverse the seating stem, make any minor seating depthadjustments that may be necessary and go on loading in afraction of the time it used to take.

Crimp DieWe’ve made it easy for you to remove the die insert for

cleaning without having to change the critical crimp adjust-ment. Once your crimp die is set for the proper amount ofcrimp, you’ll never have to change it. This is especially goodnews for all of you who load lead bullets! Before, you had tounscrew the die from the toolhead and disassemble the die inorder to remove any bullet lube or lead residue. Then, youhad to start from square one to re-adjust the crimp. Thosedays are over. All you have to do now is pop a clip and thedie insert drops into your hand for cleaning.

Sizing/Depriming DieThe sizing/depriming die is full-length, to mini-

mum tolerances, sizing cases down to function insemi- and full-automatic firearms. We strongly sug-gest that a headspace case gage be used to correctlyadjust the size die.

For high volume users, such as commercialreloaders, law enforcement agencies, and highpower or service rifle competitors, we also offer .223and .308 die sets with a full-length carbide sizingdie. Lubrication is still required, but the increasedscratch resistance and die longevity of carbide are ofgreat benefit to these groups of users.

The depriming assembly includes a carbideexpander ball for “squeak-free,” effortless neckexpansion. This expander ball is located in the mid-dle of the depriming stem to take advantage of supe-rior initial leverage for easier extraction.

In the event of a stuck case, the design of thedepriming assembly allows it to function as a stuckcase remover.

Bullet Seating DieOur bullet seating die is internally designed to keep

the bullet straight throughout the seating process.Once properly adjusted, the only measurable runoutwill be that which is inherent in the bullet.

Taper Crimp DieThe taper crimp die is also specially configured to

center both the case neck and the case body, therebyaligning the entire cartridge for a more uniformcrimp. Dillon Rifle Dies are designed to meet themore rigid requirements for both accuracy and preci-sion demanded by today’s marksman.

Magnum rifle cartridges can require from 70grains to well in excess of 100 grains for a

single charge. Our “Belted Magnum” PowderSystem features a maximum-capacity steel pow-der bar that can dispense more than 100 grainsof extruded IMR powder.

Like all of Dillon’s powder measures, theBelted Magnum Powder System is case-activatedand can be used with your RL 550B, XL 650 orAT 500 reloader. It’s ideal for loading large-caliber magnum rifle cartridges. We tested thissystem with various extruded rifle powders andfound that powder charge variations stayedwithin plus-or-minus three-tenths of a grain.

The “Belted Magnum” Powder System isbased on our SL 900 Shot Dispenser, so the Max-imum Charge Bar won’t work in our standardpowder measures – you’ll need to buy the entiresystem. By John MarshallWhen you say “shotgun” I’ll bet that most peo-

ple will visualize the popular Remington 870.There are good reasons for that. Since its introduc-tion in 1950, year after year, it’s been a best seller.It is now arguably the best-selling shotgun of alltime. It configures easily for just about any task.Change out barrels, stocks and accessories and youcan have an upland bird gun, a duck gun, a skeetgun, a trap gun, a riot gun, or a tactical defensegun. It’s simple. It looks good. It’s reliable. It’s easyto maintain. I’ve heard it said that one can neverhave too many Remington 870s. It’s that good.

Still, in spite of its immense popularity for over60 years, few people actually know how the endur-ing design came to be. So here’s a little history.After World War II, Remington designers wereworking on a family of shotguns to offer the public.The first to hit the market was the 11-48 semiautoin 1948. It was decided that many of the parts ofthe 11-48 could also be applied to a pump-operat-ed counterpart. Four Remington engineers wereassigned the task of developing that pump gun.They were Ray Crittendon, Phillip Haskell, EllisHailston, and G.E. Pinckney.

These skilled men went to work with the 11-48design as the core of the gun. They used the receiv-er, trigger housing group, and a number of othercommon parts. While the gun was a quality piece,it was also economical, first because it used manyof the same parts as the 11-48, but also becausemost of the parts were easy to manufacture. Thereceiver, the bolt and the barrel were made of thefinest steel. There were a number of stamped partsthat were easy to make in the trigger housinggroup. The twin action bars were also stampedparts. Using two bars instead of one made for relia-bility, with no problems of twisting or bindinginherent in a single-bar design. It was lighter thanmost shotguns, because the design team chose the16-gauge receiver of the 11-48 to work with 12-gauge components. That also made the new gun abit slimmer than the 11-48 12-gauge. The push-button trigger-blocking safety behind the trigger

was carried over from the semiautomatic gun and abolt-release lever forward of the trigger guard wasincorporated into the trigger housing group. Thebolt has a cammed locking block that fits into anextension on the barrel to lock these units togetherin the forward position.

Barrels could be easily interchanged without fit-ting by simply removing the magazine cap andslipping them on and off. The standard stock fitalmost everybody. When the gun was announcedin January 1950 as the Model 870 “Wingmaster,” itbecame an immediate hit. The only alloy part wasthe non-stressed trigger housing, which wasanodized to match the bluing on most of the steelparts. The older Remington Model 31 needed over580 machining operations to produce it, while the870 needed only about 150. These cost savingscould be passed on to the customers, and the 870was never a particularly expensive item. As a mat-ter of interest, although there have been some cos-metic changes depending on the intended use ofthe various iterations of the gun, it has remainedmechanically the same since its introduction. That’sa real tribute to its excellence.

The reliability of the 870 action is legendary.This fact has not been lost on police departmentsin the United States, and 870 riot guns can befound almost universally with them. It’s a rarepolice cruiser that doesn’t have one on board. Theintimidating metallic “shuck-shuck” sound of around being chambered is usually enough to settleany disagreement without a shot being fired. Offi-cers who are trained with the gun are instructed tooperate the action vigorously. As with most pumpactions, not pulling the forearm all the way back (a

“short stroke”) can induce a hang-up. A round inthe 870 can then jam halfway out of the maga-zine, back over the lifter. For this reason, manydepartments have modified the lifter with a centrallongitudinal slot. This enables pushing a jammedround back into the magazine with a key, a pen,or a knife, putting the gun back into action easily.Home-defense guns can be modified similarly; it’seasy enough to do with a Dremel® or similar tooland a cutoff wheel. Current 12-gauge guns have a“Flexi-tab” lifter with a U-shaped slot that allevi-ates the problem.

The factory has offered various configurationsover the years. Almost standard among outdoorsportsmen are the 28-inch-barrel field modelswith a ventilated rib and a modified choke. Inrecent years, “Rem-choke” barrels have becomeavailable; these have interchangeable choketubes that screw into the muzzle of the barrel.This arrangement allows selection of an open,improved, modified or full choke in just a fewmoments. Many older barrels were customequipped with adjustable chokes and/or compen-sators such as the Cutts models.

Riot guns with shorter barrels (usually 18” or20”) and with more mundane metal and stock fin-ishes are considered ideal for police and homedefense work. The 870 is easily adaptable to allowdifferent stocks, barrels with rifle sights, extendedmagazines, extra ammo brackets, etc. Custom-configured “tactical” models are easy enough toput together for those interested in doing so. Thereare even forearms with built-in high intensityflashlights for use in the dark or low-light environ-ments. Aftermarket polymer stocks and folding or

collapsible stocks are also available. Guns withoutshoulder stocks and using just pistol grips make forhandiness in confined areas, but are not for therecoil-sensitive.

There are so many factory configurations thatthey are impossible to list in this short article. Thereare left-handed actions, a wide variety of stockmaterials, many different gauges and chamberlengths, youth models, sighted barrels, moisture-resistant and camouflage finishes, and special gunsmade for competition such as skeet and trap.

The gun illustrated here is my old 12-gauge 870TB trap model. It’s equipped with a 30” ribbed bar-rel featuring two “stack ‘em” beads. By the stan-dard Remington date code on the barrel, it wasmade in February of 1969. I’ve put thousands ofrounds through it and it’s still as good as new. Ifyou’re wondering about the pieces of red and bluetape on the forearm, they were put there to distin-guish my gun from all the others in the racks at thetrap range – it seems almost everyone where I com-peted had one a lot like it. With practice and thisfine gun, I was able to hit 50 straight pretty regular-ly before my interests wandered to other endeav-ors. The trap and skeet models typically had premi-um wood, finely figured and finished. This old gunis no exception. It’s a beautiful piece.

Over 10 million 870s have been built and soldfrom 1950 to 2010, and this shotgun shows nosigns of any decline in popularity. Parts and acces-sories are available almost anywhere and on theInternet. Sportsmen, police, the military, shootingcompetitors and those just wanting effective self-protection all think the world of it. If you don’thave one, well – why not?

both times to rejoin his unit. He helped liberate twoNazi concentration camps, and stopped taking SSprisoners soon afterwards. Dillon was awarded theBronze Star, and received two battlefield promo-tions in the European Theater. At the end of theEuropean War, in Czechoslovakia, Jack Dillon wassurrounded by 200 mounted Hungarian Hussarsmoving westward, trying to outrun the Russians.Grandpa’s .45 was handed over for a brief period,then handed back, along with 200 Hungarian .380Automatics (Figure 4) as all of the cavalrymen sur-rendered to him.

His reward for such exemplary service in theETO was to be sent to the Asiatic Theater. Grand-pa’s 1911 .45 now crossed the Pacific for the firsttime. After the “formal” Japanese Surrender in Sep-tember 1945, Uncle Jack Dillon was sent to Korea,where he continued to take surrenders from isolat-ed Japanese units moving south from China forsome additional months. Promoted to full birdColonel, Dillon was made the military Governorof Pusan province. He stayed on halfway through1946, creating his own M.P. force of ex-ImperialMarines, all Koreans over six feet tall. Colonel Dil-lon’s little army still wore their Japanese uniforms,but with U.S. collar badges, still armed with Arisa-ka 7.7 rifles.

The last time that Grandpa’s .45 was pulledfrom its holster, ready for business, was in thespring of 1946. Shortly before returning stateside,Uncle Jack asked his ex-Imperial Marine Sergeantwhat a Japanese Banzai charge looked like. Thenon-com said that he couldn’t describe it, but hecould act it out. The sergeant got a squad of formerJapanese Marines together, their issue swords out,huddled for a while as they worked themselves up,then charged Dillon, who reacted by pulling his.45 and almost killing his own sergeant before theyall stopped, less than a yard away, with theirswords in the striking position. In 1946 the .45came back across the Pacific to California, where ithas been ever since.

When my Uncle, Colonel Jack Dillon, retiredfrom the U.S. Army, his father’s 1911 passed to me.I have shot the .45 and used it as a teaching pistolever since. For years, whenever brand-new pistolshave jammed or failed, grandpa’s old 1911 wasused as a test-bed to determine what was wrongwith the newer guns. And, whenever a new shooterasks me what kind of pistol to buy, I always takepains to point out that, at least in our family, one.45 beats all the other calibers, combined. In aworld increasingly populated by plastic guns in thewrong calibers, I am proud to say that grandpa’s1911 .45 ACP is still in the family, now going on itssecond century.About the Author: Brian Dervin Dillon is a fifth-genera-

qualification shoot for the Mason County Sheriff’sOffice Jail division here in Washington State.Whereas most police qualification courses of fire,even today, have evolved little beyond “stand andshoot” exercises, the MCSO Jail qual proved to bemuch more varied and innovative.

The firearms instructor for the MCSO Jail divi-sion is Sergeant Bruce Bennett (familiar to long-time Blue Press readers from my previous article,“Bruce Bennett, Bionic Shooter” dealing with hissuccessful battle with Parkinson’s disease). Oneinteresting thing about this qual, it wasn’t shot on

a standard B27 police silhouette; it used primarilymultiple USPSA cardboard targets, and also incor-porated steel shooting in the guise of a USPSAmini-popper (that small steel knockdown targetthat looks like a scale model Pepper Popper).

There were three stages to the MCSO jail divi-sion qualification. Stage 1 was the most conven-tional, a series of stand-and-shoot drills run from5 to 15 yards. However they were not shot on thestandard B27 silhouette but instead three USPSAtargets. Sergeant Bennett commented, “I’ve beenusing cardboard USPSA targets since I began run-ning the MCSO Jail qualification in 1983. I feltthe USPSA target was a much better representa-

tion of the areas on the human body that – morethan likely – would incapacitate an adversary inthe real world.”

Stage 2 was a speed shoot, during which offi-cers had to engage a mini-popper and four USPSApaper targets, two each flanking the steel on eachside. This stage was clocked using an electronictimer, and shooters were given their hit factor (anumber telling you how many points on target youposted per second during the drill). This is the sortof fast shooting combined with the need for accu-racy that you get very little of, if any, during nor-mal police qualification courses.

Stage 3 incorporated use of cover both left

and right while shooting at varying distances andabsolutely forced you to deliver accurate shotswhile moving. Again, this is something you getvery little of, if any, during the typical policequalification.

SummaryThis qualification course was, I found, a

thought-provoking experience. Granted, such aprogram requires much more time, effort and inge-nuity to implement than simply running the exactsame “stand and shoot” course over and over, fordecades on end. But there is much here to ponder,I think, not only for law enforcement officers butalso for legally armed citizen shooters.
