What are scholarships?Scholarshipsaregiftfundsbasedonhighacademicachievement,specialtalent,aparticularmajor,orfinancialneed.Youdonothavetorepayscholarships.

Who is eligible?To receive a scholarship at LMC, you must:1) Beacceptedforadmissionintoaprogramleading toadegreeorcertificate. To be accepted to LMC you must: • CompleteanApplicationforAdmission. • HaveyourfinalhighschooltranscriptsorGEDresults submittedtoLMC.2) Beenrolledatleasthalftime–sixcredithours (formostscholarships).3) Completeascholarshipessay.4) Meettheotherqualificationsofthespecificscholarships.

When are scholarships awarded?Youmaybeawardedascholarshipforthefallandspringsemestersonly,unlessotherwisenoted.HighschoolstudentsarenotifiedinMarchandApril.TheremainderofscholarshipsareawardedinMay,June,andJulyafterspringgradesareposted.Scholarshipsarealsoawardedthroughouttheyearasvacanciesbecomeavailable.

What do scholarships pay for?Youmayuseyourscholarshiptopayfortuitionandfeesonly(notbooks),unlessotherwisespecified.

When should I apply?FormostLakeMichiganCollegescholarships,applybyMarch 1, 2012, forpriorityconsideration.Applicationswillbeacceptedafterthatdatebutawardswillbebasedonwhatfundsarestillavailableafterpriorityapplicationshavebeenconsidered.

How will I be notified?Ifyoureceiveascholarship,youwillreceivealetterfromtheFinancialAidOfficethatwillexplainthetermsofthescholarship.Youwillalsobeexpectedtowritealetterofthankstothedonorofyourscholarship.
