The game marks the seventh overtime game of the season for BSU (2-3-2) and its fourth in its last five games. BSU is now 5-12-2 in WCHA play and 9-14-2 overall and 2-3-2 in overtime this season. uThe Beavers have struggled in Friday evening contests in 2010-11. Last night’s series-opening loss makes the BSU 3-9-1 (.269) on Fridays with a 1-8-1 (.150) mark on Friday’s in league play. uLast night’s loss in extra time, marks the Beavers’ second consecutive OT loss. Bemidji State also took a 2-1 loss when they hosted St. Cloud State for their series opener Jan. 22. BSU is 20-20-40 in overtime since the 1999-2000 season. The Beavers have escaped overtime with at least a tie in over 75-per- cent (60-of-80) of overtime affairs in the last 11 seasons. uThe Beavers now have three overtime losses in seven extra time games (2-3-2) this season, which matches BSU teams of 2002-03, 2004-05 and 2005-06 for the BSU Division I-era mark for OT losses in a season (3). uTwenty-five games into the 2010-11 campaign, the Beavers already have seven games that have been extended to overtime coming within one of its 2009-10 total (8). BSU has played more OT games only three seasons since making the jump to NCAA Division I for the 1999-2000 season. In 2002-03 the Beavers played 15 OT contests and in 2004-05 and 2009-10 the team played in eight overtime contests. uThree seems to be a magical thresh hold for BSU opponents in 2010-11. BSU is 0-9-0 (.000) when its opponents have scored three or more goals in a game. BSU is 9-3-2 (.766) when holding its op- ponents to two or fewer goals this season. uTwenty-two of BSU’s 26 skaters have netted at least a point this season. Rookies Jeff Jubinville, anton Racklin and Garrett ladd along with sophomore Matt Hartmann are all still in search of their first collegiate points. uThe BSU power-play has struggled to get on track in the second half of 2010-11. In the first nine games back from break, the Beavers have only four goals on the man advantage (4-for-26) and are clicking at just 18 percent. Jamie MacQueen scored BSU’s last power-play goal in the second period of the team’s Jan. 22 game--the Beavers have played 85:08 since their last goal on a man advantage. uBSU’s penalty-kill unit was flawless last night snuffing out all four of the Mavericks’ power-play op- portunities, including a five minute major midway through the third frame. The Beavers have allowed just three man advantage goals in their last five games and 23 opponent chances (.870). The unit has now held opponents scoreless on 95-of-117 opponent man advantage opportunities this season (.812). uMatt Read will make his 136 consecutive appearance for the Beavers tonight. Read has not missed a game since he stepped on campus at BSU in the fall of 2007. He remains seven games behind Matt Pope and John Haider for the BSU Division I-era record for games played (143). uJunior defenseman Brad Hunt will play in his 100th game in the green and white tonight. uFreshman forward Jeff Jubinville returns to the line up tonght for the first time since Jan. 1 and jsut his second appearance since Nov. 26. uStopping 41 of 43 shots last night, Dan Bakala set a new career-high for saves. He is the first BSU goaltender to stop 41 shots or more in a game since Matt Climie (2004-08) turned away 44 in a 4-2 victory over Ala. Huntsville Dec. 16, 2006. uSophomore Jordan George scored the Beavers’ lone goal last night to increase his team-leading scoring total to 10-15=25 points. uDan Bakala has two assists from the crease this season and remains just one behind Matt Dalton (2008-09) for the BSU single-season record. With three during his career, he’s two shy of matching Jim Scanlan (1978-82) for the career goalie assists mark. uBSU has managed just three goals in its last three games--one goal each outing. The last time BSU was held to one or fewer goals in three consecutive games was Oct. 20-27, 2007 versus Merrimack and St. Cloud State. uMatt Read has a pair of short-handed goals this season, with eight during his career Read sits just one behind Brendan Cook (2001-05) for the Beavers’ Division I-era record (9). uBSU enters tonight’s game looking to salvage a series split versus the Mavericks, to avoid being swept on the road for the third time in 2010-11 and for the fourth consecutive meeting with Minnesota State. uDespite dropping their seventh straight to Minnesota State, the Beavers continue to hold a 44-36-13 advantage in an all-time series that dates back to the mid 1970s. Since both teams made the jump to the major college hockey level, MSU has won 16 of the 23 meetings (16-5-2). uThe Beavers posted a record of 10-6-3 a year ago when playing on Saturday and are 6-5-1 in 2010-11. uBSU has compiled an all-time record of 975-482-88 (.660) in 1,545 games.
