Fraser Valley Rec: Creating Community through People, Parks, and Recreational Opportunities:

We remain dedicated to our Vision of “Creating Community” through a high caliber Parks and Recreation system. Our team of professionals continue to work hard to provide the quality programs, activities, and facilities that we are known for and that the public enjoys. Like many organizations we are experiencing reduced budget and staffing levels, but with continued community collaboration and participation Parks and Recreation can be a key driver in promoting economic development, enhancing the environment, and facilitating healthy lifestyles. On behalf of Parks and Recreation, I’d like to thank the community for the opportunity to serve you, and share with you a number of positive achievements completed over the past year:

• Received the prestigious Colorado Parks and Recreation Association’s Columbine Award for “Outstanding Facility Design” for the Grand Park Community Recreation Center (GPCRC)

• Completed Fraser Valley Sports Complex (FVSC) improvements including the “Icebox” ice rink facility

• Completed resurfacing of Fraser School House Park Tennis Courts

• Collaborated with the Grand Community Gardens group to construct a community Garden at the FVSC

• Partnered with Healthways to provide Silver Sneakers senior fitness programs at GPCRC to qualified participants

• Commissioned local artist Katrina Larson on GPCRC natatorium mural to recreate the original Shed Mural

• Designed and constructed a fully accessible “boundless” playground at GPCRC

Thanks Fraser Valley for your continued support! If you have comments or suggestions for ways we can better meet your recreational needs, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,

Scott LedinScott Ledin Director of Parks & Recreation

SPECIALTY PROGRAM REGISTRATIONFraser Valley Rec continues to offer programming at all district facilities, including the recreation center. Please reference the activity guide for further details. This programming remains separate from recreation center memberships with the standard in-district and out-of-district rates. However, there will be discounts offered to recreation center members for some fitness, aquatics and gymnastic classes offered at the recreation center.

Registrations for classes and programs are taken during business hours by phone, on-line, or in-person, and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Internet registration is also available 24 hours a day at www.fraservalleyrec.org. Online registration for new, seasonal programs will be available 6 hours prior to on-site registration. Payment MUST be made at time of registration. Outstanding balances must be paid in full prior to new registrations.

AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM REGISTRATIONPlease fill out a calendar with the days your child is planning on attending so that we may staff accordingly. You do not need to pre-register on-line or on-site for the After School Program. We will take roll daily and you will be sent a bi-monthly installment bill via e-mail for the days your child attends the program. Please make sure we have your current e-mail address on file. Prompt payment is expected.

FRIDAY FIELDTRIP REGISTRATION Pre-registration is required 24 hours in advance for Friday Field Trips to allow us to plan and staff accordingly. If you are not pre-registered your child will not be able to attend the trip. You may register for field trips by phone (970) 726-8968 x.0, on-line www.fraservalleyrec.org, or in-person at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center.

ON-LINE REGISTRATIONIn order to register on-line you must be in our computer system. If you are not in our system and would like to be, please come visit us at the Rec Center or you may call us at 726-8968. This does not mean that you have to have a membership to browse our site on-line, it just means that we need to have you in our system so that you can receive a login and password. Your login and password will be your Household ID which can be found on any FVMRD receipt or call us at 726-8968 to attain that information. Once you login for the first time, you will be prompted to change your password. Please be sure to peruse our menu bar so you can make yourself familiar with our system. “My Account” will take care of most services for your household, while all of your registrations can proceed through “Search” or “Shop”. Once you are logged into the system, you can search our database by a few different avenues: keyword, age, gender, or activity number. Once you have found the appropriate class, you click the “cart” symbol. Next select the family member that you wish to register and then click “Add to Cart”. You may either continue browsing or check-out at this point. Check-out procedure is similar to most other on-line shopping vendors. Enter the credit card information and billing address and proceed with checkout. You may either print your receipt now or reprint it later through “My Account.”

Functional movement screenthe Functional Movement Screen is an assessment that documents movement patterns that are key to normal function. By assessing these patterns, the FMS identifies functional limitations and asymmetries. these are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness. the FMS generates Functional Movement Screen Score, which is used to target problems and track progress. this scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns. the FMS score is used to track progress and identify those exercises that will be most effective to restore proper movement and build strength. location: gPcRc Fitness centerinstructors: John Florkiewicz and Lucy Lozar
