NOW IS THE TIME TO BEGIN YOUR ROMANCE WITH PASO ROBLES WINE COUNTRY

IN EACH GLASS OF PASO WINE, you

hold in your hand a vibrant romance; a

romance characterized by the capricious

Mother Nature and steadfast winemaker.

This raucous relationship begins in the

vineyard, is nurtured in the winery and

flourishes in the bottle. It is only then that

this personification of the winemaker’s

passion finds its way into our homes,

families and favorite memories.

Now in its 29th year, the Paso Robles

Wine Festival celebrates wine country

by bringing more than 90 wineries to

the Downtown City Park. In addition,

local artisans and chefs will be found

throughout the weekend engaging their

cuisine in a dance that highlights the

best of both food and wine.

RESERVE, held on the evening of

Friday, May 20, will lead you

through an exploration of library,

reserve, power white/Rosés and

futures. This year RESERVE will

offer the new opportunity to bid on

the wines featured in the category

of futures. Winning bidders will

reunite with a case of that wine

once it has matured through the

winemaking process and is

ready for release.

Begin Saturday at the Grand Tasting

where more than 400 wines join local

culinary artists, chef demonstrations and

music from the Guy Budd Band beneath

the oaks of the Paso Robles Downtown

City Park. Then, Saturday evening, join

your favorite winemakers as they pull up

rare wines from deep within their cellars

to accompany a locally-inspired meal

and the remarkable auction lots found at

the Wine Country Auction & Dinner.

Travel beyond the Park and become

encompassed by Paso Robles Wine

Country; more than 140 wineries will be

hosting events throughout the weekend.

Open house festivities, live music,

winemaker dinners and more await

those looking for the inspiration behind

each wine.

Submerge yourself in the wines, flavors

and expressions of this one-of-a-kind

place at the 29th Annual Wine Festival.

With so many options awaiting you, now

is the time to begin your romance with

Paso Robles Wine Country.

WEEKEND PASSAs you face the difficult task of deciding which marquee events to attend, make your life

easier by purchasing a Weekend Pass, which grants access to everything! Begin Friday

evening at RESERVE, held in the tent within the Paso Robles Downtown City Park. Browse

wines offered in four categories - power white/Rosés, library, reserve and futures. On

Saturday, return to the Park for the Winemaker Seminar to listen and taste with a panel

of winemakers and sommeliers as they explore the distinct, different characteristics

of Paso Robles wine. Flow directly from the Seminar into the Grand Tasting, enjoying a

more intimate crowd during the first hour. Finally, return to the Park Saturday evening

dressed in your finest Vineyard Chic for the Wine Country Auction & Dinner. The highly

coveted Weekend Pass is $325 and is only available by advance purchase to a limited

number of attendees.

WINE COUNTRY AUCTION & DINNERAt the Wine Country Auction & Dinner enthusiasts are invited to get up close and personal

with Paso Robles winemakers and their romance with the region. One can only imagine

the rare wines that winemakers will pull out of the cellar to share with their table. A

locavore meal will be prepared by a team of four local chefs from the most highly acclaimed

restaurants in Paso Robles, complemented by guest chef, Mark Sullivan of Spruce in San

Francisco. While enjoying the delectable cuisine the Wine Country Auction lots featured in

the live auction will invite you to immerse yourself in the spirit of Paso Robles as it explores

connections throughout the world while pulling you deeper into its roots. Tickets to the Wine

Country Auction & Dinner are $250 and are available by advance purchase only. This event

has limited seating and will likely sell out.

RESERVERESERVE creates the rare occasion in which wineries must choose the single wine they

are most enamored with to share with you. This event adds a unique twist as the wine

chosen must fit into one of four categories - power white/Rosés, reserves, library wines

and futures. New this year - Should you happen upon a futures wine that you can’t live

without … you don’t have to! The new Futures Auction allows the top five bidders of each

unreleased wine to secure a case once the winery has determined that it is ready to be

bottled. This unique opportunity allows you to taste the future now and reunite with it

after the wine is ready to grace your cellar.

RESERVE ticketholders look forward to a full weekend. In addition to Friday evening’s

event, RESERVE attendees also have access to the Winemaker Seminar and early

admission to the Grand Tasting on Saturday. The RESERVE ticket is $125, limited and

only available through advance purchase.

WINEMAKER’S SEMINARJoin an intimate gathering of winemakers Saturday at 1 p.m. in the tent, as they taste

through their wines in an exploration of the distinct, different characteristics of Paso

Robles Wine Country. Guided by local sommeliers, this seminar is limited, filled on a

first come, first serve basis and is only available to RESERVE, Wine Country Auction &

Dinner, and Weekend Pass ticketholders.

GRAND TASTINGThe Grand Tasting features wines from over 90 wineries in the beautiful setting of

the Paso Robles Downtown City Park. The vibrant atmosphere will be set with music

from the Guy Budd Band. As you wander amongst the wineries be sure to take a break

at the Bread, Cheese and Water Stations to enhance your tasting experience. You

will definitely want to make your way over to the Demonstration Kitchen to find the

featured guest chef and a local chef talent teaching you how to make one of their

delectable dishes. Also, in Artisan Alley, awaits a plethora of local culinary delights for

you to sample and purchase.

IN ORDER TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR GETAWAY TO PASO ROBLES WINE COUNTRY, it is important that you plan ahead. While

spontaneity is encouraged, below are a few tips and tricks to help plan your

visit to Paso Robles.

PASO ROBLES WINE FESTIVAL – It is highly recommended that you

plan in advance when attending special events in Paso Robles. Refunds are

not given after you purchase tickets so make sure that you plan ahead.

EVENT WEEKEND CHECKLIST1. Make hotel accommodations as soon as possible.

2. Purchase your Wine Festival tickets now at www.pasowine.com or by calling

800.549.WINE.

3. Plan your itinerary for the weekend. Wineries host various special events

throughout the weekend. Be sure to book your selected activities in advance.

BOOK LODGING ACCOMMODATIONS IN ADVANCE – This is

important, especially when you are planning for an event weekend such as

Wine Festival; The Hotels, Motels, Guest Cottages, Inns and Bed & Breakfasts

fill up fast. See the Visitor Info pages for a list of accommodations.

PLAN FOR THE WEATHER – May in Paso Robles may bring warm days,

cool nights and even rain, all of which contribute to the great wines we are

able to enjoy. As you pack for Wine Festival plan on a range of weather, you

never know what it will be, and remember that even the barrel rooms are

temperature controlled so keep a sweater with you throughout your visit.

Page 41: 2011 Wine Festival Brochure

.41

HYDRATE YOURSELF – Drink plenty of water! You will be doing a lot of

walking and the weather can be warm.

MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A TOUR - Call 24 – 48 hours in advance

to set up a special tour and tasting. This will make your visit unforgettable!

Most wineries, vineyards and tasting rooms will accommodate you and this is

highly recommended when you have groups of seven or more.

TASTE THE TOWN – Be sure to complement the wine you taste by visiting

one of the many restaurants and specialty shops found in Paso Robles.

Tantalize your taste buds with dinner, hors d'oeuvres, dessert, or take home

specialty items to share with your family and friends. See the Visitor Info pages

for a list of restaurants and specialty shops.

TRANSPORTATION – Always remember to designate a driver or plan

for tour transportation, limo or a taxi to take you through Paso Robles Wine

Country. See the Visitor Info pages for a list of touring companies.

REMEMBER THE 4 SS OF RESPONSIBLE TASTING – Swirl, Smell,

Sip and Spit. This method is a great way to sample a lot of different wines and

appreciate what each wine has to offer as you enjoy them throughout Wine

Festival Weekend.
