serve as a Member of Provincial Parliament in York Region since 1995. Through my responsibilities as both an MPP and Cabinet Minister I have had the opportunity to develop and implement many important initiatives. Working collaboratively with our municipal and federal governments has ensured that the needs of our community continue to be met. I believe, that as your MPP, it is my responsibility to advocate for the most critical priorities in our community.

FRANK KLEESE’S VISION ✔ Acting on the needs of my constituents, those priorities have been healthcare, education, transportation and our environment. I am proud of my record in advocating for legislation to protect the Oak Ridges Moraine, the establishment of a world-class Cardiac Care Centre at Newmarket's South Lake Regional Health Centre, and provincial funding and policy support for York Region's Viva Transit expansion, which have established a strong foundation for what I believe is our shared vision for a safe and prosperous community.

Liberal PLATform• We asked: What are the two most

pressing issues facing the Newmarket-Aurora riding and what are your solutions?

• She said: Our community was impacted significantly with the global economic downturn. We saw a number of job losses, wages were frozen and many had their hours cutback in the workplace. We have come a long way, but we still need to do more.  A key to job creation is creating the economic conditions where the private sector can thrive and innovate. The McGuinty Government has been doing just that in Ontario. The clean energy policies have created a demand in Ontario for alternative energy sources, including solar panels, also creating a demand for North American manufacturing is creating jobs right here in Newmarket-Aurora. Recently, SunEdison announced over 400 jobs in this riding to help meet the demand of the new green energy sector. This is but one example of many where the Ontario Government has created the climate for job creation. Ontario is now one of the most competitive tax jurisdictions in the world for attracting business; we need to continue that progress but also continue to invest in our education system so that young people can find high value and sustainable jobs. There is no doubt that the McGuinty government’s focus on increasing high school graduation rates, expanding apprenticeship programs and investing more in post-secondary education will open more opportunities for young people. --

We have many young families and a growing population of seniors. The investments the McGuinty Government has made at Southlake Regional Health Centre have been significant. I recently spoke to a woman whose husband has been receiving cancer treatments at Southlake. She noted what a difference it made to her and her husband and their whole family that he could receive care right here in the community. My focus would be to advocate for greater investment at Southlake Regional Health Centre.  It wasn’t too long ago that new residents to Newmarket and Aurora weren’t able to get a family doctor. Now, because we have a government that is focused on addressing the needs of working families and seniors, there are now new family doctors accepting patients in our community.We cannot afford to move backwards to a time when the government of the day was closing hospitals, wait times were growing, and nurses were being fired. My commitment to the residents of Newmarket and Aurora on is to be a tireless advocate for improved health care. We must move forward together and continue to build a better health care system that will care for our seniors and meet the needs of working families.

THE GREEN PARTY PLATFORM Kristopher found a home in the Green Party because he felt its

philosophy was most like his. It was inclusive in nature and shared his vision of focusing on entrepreneurship and unique ideas and values.

Kristopher feels that the Green Party is taking a more practical approach to education by “harnessing the education of the next generation by increasing the number of people enrolled in post secondary education. There has to more opportunities in a cooperative environment where internships are available and people can move into the work force.”

Jobs and job creation are also a priority both now and in the future as Kristopher points to some of the recent layoffs in the riding. Kristopher feels that renewable energy programs are not only good for the environment but they also create jobs. He also feels that with the incentives his party is promoting for small business and entrepreneurs, long term job creation will occur.

Kristopher also proposes to provide more long term health care facilities in the riding closer to home and to “establish multi purpose clinics for out patient services that do not necessarily have to be performed at hospitals” as a way of expediting health care delivery.

The Green Party is also concerned with the size of government. Kristopher stated that “A big issue is to decrease government waste and make it more transparent and to stop hiding where our money is going”

Ontario has lost 300,000 manufacturing jobs in the past decade. We have become a have-not province with a record budget deficit. The global recession, a high Canadian dollar and rising world energy prices have hit our wallets particularly hard.It’s time to address these challenges head-on with policies that promote prosperity in a low-carbon global economy.

The Green Party has a plan to secure Ontario’s future, not lock us in the past. We envision a future where Ontario builds on its diverse strengths to become a confident leader in the global economy. We will focus on creating sustainable, long- term jobs, and stop burdening our children with today’s debts.We can only achieve this future by unleashing and nurturing the creativity and innovation of our entrepreneurs and workers to build strong local economies. The Green Party is committed to responsible stewardship of our natural and financial resources and will promote policies that ensure we live within our means.

“everyday Ontarians care about are affordability so the NDP plan to cut the HST on home heating, slowly reduce the HST on gas at the pumps cut LHINS (Local Health Integrated Networks) and put Ontario Hydro back together to cut energy costs. Health care is another pressing issue. We would like to cut wait times in half. It’s a combination of health care promotion and prevention and working smarter in delivering care.. We want to cut down wait lists for people who need long term health care.

When asked what he thought the major issues in this election were he stated :

The NDP finished a distance third in Newmarket-Aurora last election in a battle fought between current MPP Frank Klees and returning Liberal candidate Cristina Bisanz. Robin is not deterred and is optimistic about his chances. “The Liberals talk a good game but have lost touch with the voter. The Mayor of Toronto is showing the downside of a very narrow focus of supposed waste and I don’t think the people of Newmarket-Aurora want to loose the services they value by voting in a Tory government. The Federal election shows people have an appetite for change”. Robin hopes they do.
