SISTER SOULJAH VISIT

TIME: 6 p.m.
Sister Souljah has authored three bestsellers: “The
Coldest Winter Ever,” “No Disrespect,” and Mid-
night, A Gangster Love Story.” As a community ac-
tivist, Souljah organized against racially-motivated
crimes, police brutality and the miseducation of ur-
ban youth. She produced and promoted several out-
door rallies and concerts in Harlem, N.Y., which drew
nearly 30,000 youth each times.
ANNUAL BOOK FAIR PRESENTATIONS
WHEN: Thursday, April 14
WHERE: Leonard E. Dawson Health
and Human Resources Center
1st presenter: Shiela Martina
TIME: 9:30 a.m.
Shiela Martina is a storyteller from Walterboro, S.C.
She recently wrote and published a children’s book ti-
tled “Hannah and Dexter: The First Meeting.”
2nd presenter: Wes Moore
TIME: 11 a.m.
Wes Moore is an author, youth advocate, Army combat
veteran, businessman and nonprofit leader. Heis com-
mitted to helping young people redirect their lives and
supporting the parents, teachers, mentors and volun-
teers who care for and work with our nation’s youth. A
portion of his proceeds from the sales of “The Other
Wes Moore” are being donated to the U.S. Dream
Academy and City Year.
There will be several local authors
participating in the book fair. Barnes
and Noble Book Store will be primary
bookseller.
