Get Your Kicks on Route 66 Tour Based on an inspiring true story, “The Sound of Music” is one of Rodgers and Ham- merstein’s most beloved musicals. Set in Austria on the brink of WWII, Maria, a pos- tulant, proves too high-spirited for the religious life and is dispatched to serve as gov- erness for the seven children of a widowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain. The beloved story features many memorable tunes including “Climb Every Moun- tain”, “My Favorite Things”, “Do Re Mi” and “Edelweiss”. At time of registration, please select from baked tilapia with lemon Beurre Blanc and fresh chives or roast pork loin with apple sauerkraut and rosemary demi-glaze. Germany’s Best & Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest is a 16–18 day festival held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, running from late September to the first weekend in Oc-tober. It is one of the most famous events in Germany and is the world's largest fair, with more than 5 million people at-tending annually.

When an award-winning, straight-laced composer teams up with a quirky, aspiring lyricist, it's

far from a match made in musical heaven. But when an unexpected romance builds between

them, they hilariously struggle to find harmony. Based on the real life love story of Marvin

Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager, Neil Simon's romantic musical will leave a smile on your

face and a song in your heart.

At time of registration, please select from the following entrees: chicken picatta or roast herb

crusted pork loin. Date: Thurs., October 6 Cost: $80 Members; $96 Non-Members Code: 305429.B Time: 11:15AM—Depart Lincolnwood

German American Services, Inc., the producers of the yearly Christkindlmarket, Chi-cago's beloved authentic Christmas market, is announcing a new event at Navy Pier…Germany's Best & Oktoberfest! As the name suggests, this is an event in two distinct, yet intimately related parts: first, Germany's Best as a showcase of modern Germany's strengths in a variety of areas; and second, an Oktoberfest as a widely

known and celebrated traditional aspect of Germany. Oktoberfest will give visitors a chance to sit down at bona fide 7' long Bavarian-style, wood topped garden tables and benches and relax in traditional Okto-berfest tents draped with blue and white panels while waitresses in Dirndls and waiters in Lederhosen roam the tents. Imported classic food will be prepared by German vendors.

If the goal is to have fun and leave with a richer understanding of mod-ern Germany's culture, technology, companies, and other initiatives, and how they connect to America, then Germany's Best & Oktoberfest is the place to be. Get ready to "O'zapft” is!

Date: Wed., October 5 Time: 11:00AM—4:00PM Code: 105432.A Cost: *$20—Member; $24—Non-Member *Price includes transportation. The cost of food is not included in this trip.

Cars have changed. So have the traffic rules, driving conditions and the roads you travel every day. Some drivers age 55+ have never looked back since they got their first driver's licenses, but even the most experienced benefit from brushing up on their driving skills.

By taking this course, you can expect to learn current rules of the road, defensive driving tech-niques and how to operate your vehicle more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving envi-ronment. You’ll learn to adjust to accommodate common age-related changes in vision, hearing and reaction time.

This eight-hour program is a classroom refresher course for drivers 55 years of age and over. Please call or stop in the Parks & Recreation Office to reserve a spot (phone – 847-677-9740). Fees are paid to the instructor on the first class. Please bring a check made payable to AARP. You must attend both days to receive certification for insurance discounts. Dates: Tues./Thurs. Charlotte Bronte’s classic romance is revived once again. Raised by her aunt Sarah af-ter her parents die of typhus, young Jane Eyre is later shipped off to a stark boarding school as the result of her perceived insolence, and suffers greatly at the hands of the cold, unusually strict administration. Upon turning 18, Jane finds work as a governess for Adèle Varens, the ward of Edward Fairfax Rochester, master of Thornfield Hall. It doesn't take long for the young Adèle to warm to Jane, and upon returning home the charming Rochester, too, falls under the spell of his modest yet captivating governess. Later, he ends his courtship with the beautiful Blanche Ingram in favor of proposing to Jane, who excitedly accepts. On what was supposed to be the happiest day of Jane's life, however, a scandalous secret is revealed, and the emotionally shattered governess takes flight. But her passion for Rochester still burns bright, prompting Jane to make a life-altering decision after learning a crucial secret about her own family. Assorted pizzas will be served for lunch.

Movie & Lunch (Classic) The Odd Couple Felix Unger (Jack Lemmon) is thrown out of his house by his divorce-bound wife. He wanders aimlessly through the streets of New York before gravitating to the apartment of his best friend, incorrigibly sloppy sportswriter Oscar Madison (Walter Matthau). Within a few days, this mismatched pair is on the verge of mu-tual murder: Felix cannot abide Oscar's slovenliness, while Oscar is driven insane by Felix's obsession with cleanliness. There's a laugh a second in this faithful movie adaptation of Neil Simon’s hit Broadway play. A foolproof comic situation is kept alive and healthy by some of the funniest dialogue ever written. The Odd Couple was later adapted into a long-running TV sitcom starring Tony Randall and Jack Klug-man. Movie is 105 minutes in duration.

“Dont worry about the wrinkles on your face, they actually form by laughing and smiling a lot. It’s the sign that you spend a very happy life.”

In the aftermath of a job gone awry, an American hitman retreats to the Italian countryside, where he be-friends a local priest and strikes up an unexpected romance while awaiting the details of his next assign-ment. Jack (George Clooney) is lucky to be alive after his Swedish assignment went sour, and he knows that it's only a matter of time before his luck runs out. Not eager to tempt fate again, Jack arrives in a small Italian town and takes a job assembling a weapon for the mysterious Mathilde. During this unchar-acteristically peaceful interlude, Jack befriends kindly clergyman Father Benedetto, and connects with pretty local Clara . But in the process of reaching out for a little human contact, Jack is making himself more vulnerable than ever. The American was adapted for the screen from the novel A Very Private Gen-tleman by author Martin Booth.
