GUIDELINES

INTERSECTIONAL REGATTAS 1. Communication is through Graduate Secretaries or Conference Scheduling Personnel and

the Intersectional Schedule Coordinator.

2. Changes to Intersectional Schedule are to be prepared for presentation at the ICSA Spring Annual Meeting for the ensuing calendar year.

For example: intersectional schedule changes for 2010 are to be proposed at the Spring 2009 Annual Meeting.

3. Berths for Intersectional Regattas must be reported at least 1 month in advance or those

berths will be given away.

4. The number of host teams which may participate in an Intersectional regatta is limited to 2.

5. Withdraws from an Intersectional Regatta must be made on or before the Friday 2 weeks in advance in order to avoid a No Show. However, there is a one-month withdraw deadline for the following regattas: Timme Angsten, Sugar Bowl(s), Rose Bowl, Nelson Roltsch.

6. Copies of regatta reports, including RP forms, are to be forwarded to the Intersectional Coordinator as well as the appropriate Graduate Secretaries (per Procedural Rule 21).

7. Invite Berths are offered by the Intersectional Scheduling Coordinator, after consultation

with the host school, to teams that have expressed interest by registering through their conference as alternates for the regatta. No Invite Berths shall be extended prior to all districts publishing their official schedule. Conference alternate lists shall be honored by host schools and the Intersectional Coordinator; berths may not be offered to second alternates before they are offered to first alternates, etc. Conferences without an alternate list for a particular event will be considered as "having no interest" in Invite Berths for that event. In addition, Invite Berths shall be offered in the following order: a. 1st invite berth goes to an at-large conference (one without a permanent berth at the

regatta). b. Subsequent berths are awarded to non-host conference teams.

Page 4: 2011 ICSA Intersectional Committee - ICSA | Inter …collegesailing.org/documents/Meeting_Minutes/2012_Semi...2012/01/14  · 2011 ICSA Intersectional Committee November 7, 2011 Conference

Hosts shall submit prioritized lists based on the above policy to the Intersectional Coordinator before the regatta date.

8. Qualifying regattas for National Championships are to be scheduled at least two weeks prior

to the corresponding National Championship. 9. ICSA encourages the promotion of competition among Member Colleges from any two

Conferences. The Scheduling Officers from the two Conferences involved shall be responsible for determining the conditions and for scheduling two-Conference regattas, and the results shall be reported to the Graduate Secretaries of both Conferences. The Intersectional Schedule Coordinator is to be informed of the arrangements. Such events shall not be placed on the Intersectional Schedule unless intersectional status is requested, in which case the conditions and scheduling shall require approval of the Board of Directors. These regattas shall not be subject to ICSA penalties for No Shows or Intersectional Fees.
