International Residency
“The Vietnam residency was a true ‘cultural immersion’ with a very well thought-out agenda. I was able to use that knowledge and experience to help provide insights to my company when working on our future strategy.”
—Marie Tadlock, ’10 LaserJet Strategic Planner at Hewlett-Packard
The International Residency Week destination is Hanoi, Vietnam, which is experiencing one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Participants broaden their global skills while attending meetings with business and government leaders, and visiting various cultural sites. This week has been referred to as more of a trade mission experience than an academic one.

Leadership does not occur in a vacuum and neither does the Boise State EMBA program. Teamwork is central. From day one you will work with a team of peers to share ideas, gain practical insights, improve strategic-thinking skills and enhance your network.
Your study team will unite participants from varied backgrounds so you can benefit from the broad experiences of others. Synergy begins in the classroom and expands to the workplace.
Strength of Team Learning
“EMBA was the greatest professional and personal development experience I have had in a 20 year career. The variety of people and points of view helped me become a broader, more strategic thinker. Now I see opportunity in situations that I previously would have viewed as threats to our company. I’m convinced skills developed in EMBA will be critical to my career advancement.”
—Lisa Grow,’08 Senior VP of Power Supply at Idaho Power

Innovative Curriculum
Results-driven. When setting up the curriculum for this program, we asked employers what they valued most in their executives. Their overwhelming response was they need their leaders to have a better ability to solve multi-faceted, unstructured, messy problems. Business opportunities and challenges do not come neatly packaged in pre-labeled, discipline-specific boxes and neither does the EMBA program.
Multi-disciplinary and integrated. The Boise State EMBA program builds upon a multi-disciplinary, integrated curriculum that best replicates real-world experiences. Our consortium partnerships with regional organizations bring hands-on experience and insight into the classroom.
Real-world learning environment. EMBA program topics and projects combine multiple perspectives—enabling you to learn in the same environment in which you work.
“One of the most enjoyable and helpful aspects of the EMBA program was the amount of family support and involvement that was provided. Having my husband and kids included in functions throughout the year really helped them understand and accept the amount of time I had to devote to the program. We still love attending the back-to-school family picnic to welcome the incoming EMBAs, reunite with EMBA alums, and participate in the fun family activities.”
—Trisha Stevens Lamb,’08 PR and Communications Manager at Boise State

The Boise State EMBA program is demanding and rewarding. The EMBA staff knows the rigors of the program and helps you succeed by providing support in several areas.
Program prep available. Before class even starts we guide you through a pre-program self-assess-ment, and if needed, provide tutorial primers to ensure you are prepared for the EMBA program.
VIP Service. We register you for classes, deliver textbooks and other class materials, coordinate meals and validate parking for class sessions so you do not have to waste time on logistics.
Family Support. Your success is highly dependent on support from those close to you. Thus, we host events throughout the two-year program for spouses, significant others, and children. These events provide a setting for everyone to get to know each other, share the EMBA experience, and have fun outside of class sessions and team meetings.
