Whether you are new to Benchmade or a loyal an, welcome and thankyou or considering our products. Our employees take enormous pridein manuacturing premium sports cutlery and edged tools at our actoryin Oregon City, Oregon. We remain steadast in our commitment toproviding high quality products that will deliver superior perormanceor our customers.

In the past year, we have continued to invest heavily in training our people

and improving our manuacturing capabilities. We have expanded theootprint o our plant in Oregon while continuing to pursue materials,techniques, and processes that deliver the most innovative productson the market.

We are very excited about the new products, designs and mechanismsthat will be introduced in 2011. In our Blue Class, we have added severalnew designs rom custom knie maker Paul Poehlmann. Be sure to checkout the Axial™ series o olding knives. We have also added a smoothipper designed by Charles Marlowe – the model 53 Mangus™, a greatEDC Bali-Song®. Other new knives in the Blue Class include the smallersized AXIS® Assist 470 Emissary™ and the premium model 581 Barrage® eaturing a G10/Aluminum handle and M390 Super Steel blade. We have

strengthened our Black Class with the launch o the model 915 Triage™,our frst olding knie to include a hook saety cutter and carbide tip glassbreaker. We’ve also updated our 9101 Auto-Stryker® with a stronger springand larger deployment button. A new double action auto designed byBill Harsey, the 3800 NTK™, is also worth checking out. And in our GoldClass we will be oering the model 890-111 Torrent® or the duration o thecalendar year. It eatures an aluminum handle, Nitrous® assist opener andM390 Super Steel blade.

Perhaps our most exciting news is the modifcation o our coating orBK and SBK blades. We are pleased to announce that we have enteredinto an exclusive agreement with NIC Industries to use their Cerakote™ Gen II coating. This technology is designed to provide a visual, near-

inrared and thermal signature management capability. At the same time,this new coating resists corrosion, enhancing the durability o the blade.

centers oer the precision and control usually ound only in the aerospace industry. Most o our

products are hand assembled or a “go together” it and inish typically seen only in a custom

knie. But it’s more than just having modern equipment, or Benchmade, it’s having a workorce

LOCKING MECHANISMSSeems simple enough. You open the knie, you close the knie. But it’s the mechanics o

motion that happens in the process o opening and closing which can make the dier-

ence between ordinary and extraordinary. Is the knie easy to actuate, can it be opened

with one hand, is it ambidextrous, and will it be reliable when you need it most? These

are all essential considerations when it comes to knie mechanics.

AXIS®A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS® has been turning heads and winningans ever since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS® getsits unction rom a small, hardened steel bar which rides orward and back in a slotmachined into both steel liners. The bar extends to both sides o the knie, spansthe liners, and is positioned over the rear o the blade. It engages a ramped, tangportion o the knie blade when it is opened. Two omega style springs, one on eachliner, give the locking bar its inertia to engage the knie tang. As a result, the tangis wedged solidly between a sizable stop pin and the AXIS® bar itsel. Available in

manual, assist or automatic conigurations.

MODIFIED LOCKING-LINER The basic principle is an integral locking barwithin the knie liner being stress bent, enabling it to spring into position behindthe rear tang o the blade when the blade is opened. The locking bar wedgesagainst the rear o the blade, locking it open until you physically push it clear andclose the blade (locking-liners are made either right or let hand speciic). And witha modiied locking-liner you get a patented eature which helps to enhance thelock unction. The unction success and unction ailure o a locking-liner dependsgreatly on how well it is made and also the quality o the materials used. WithBenchmade, you get both.

NAK-LOK® Built rom the ramework o the locking-liner with someinnovative updates. The lock engages using tensile strength, compared to thecompression hold o more traditional locking-liners. With the Nak-Lok™, thepossibility o personal injury is greatly reduced with the opening inger nevercrossing the blades path.

MONOLOCK The monolock mechanism is basically a locking-liner on steroids.The knie liner is one in the same as the knie handle, and thus it is designed and

made to unction as the locking mechanism. Subsequently, a thicker materialis used to provide enough surace area to be a unctional handle, and in turncreates a larger surace area to lock the blade with. I executed properly, themonolock design rates very highly in strength and unction.

NITROUS® Another patented Benchmade exclusive, the Nitrous™ boosts theblade with ease. As the blade is closed the two torsion arms which run thelength o the handle liners are secured in place and make contact with theblade tang. As tensioned against the blade tang, the user rotates the bladeopen to a 30-degree angle, the torsion arms take over and continue the bladeopening process on its own. The huge advantages to the Nitrous design overother similar concepts, is that the blade must be rotated open to beyond a30-degree angle, which oers added user control.

PAUL® The patented Paul® axial locking mechanism is known or itsreliability and ease o opening and closing. The design is strong yet simple(3 parts and a spring). It gets its unction through a spring loaded keypositioned within the bolt circle o the pivotal axle shat. When the key isdepressed the blade can be rotated open or closed by grasping the ends othe axial shat then rotating it. When the key is released and positioned atthe end o the blade’s rotation it securely locks the blade to the side plate.The axle shat also bolts together the two side plates and the blade.

DOUBLE ACTION The double-action mechanism was designed to be theultimate extreme-use automatic knie, in conjunction with a standard manualopener. This push button automatic eatures a locking liner mechanism andincorporates an innovative lock release which is activated by pushing on thehandle in the correct spot to ire the blade out automatically.

LIMITED LIFETIME WARRANTY

Benchmade Knie Company, Inc. (“Benchmade”) warrants to the original owner thatthis knie will be ree rom deects in materials and workmanship. Benchmade will,

without charge, repair or replace, at Benchmade’s option, any knie returned or

Warranty work and ound to be deective by Benchmade. The knie must be shipped

by owner prepaid and insured reight, together with a description o the problem,

and must be accompanied by the original bill o sale, your charge or credit card

receipt or any satisactory proo o the original date o purchase rom a retail dealer.

Any automatic knie returned or Warranty service rom outside o Oregon must also

include a copy o the owner’s active police or military identication, or be returned

through the authorized Benchmade dealer rom whom the knie was originally

purchased. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

WHAT IS COVERED

This Warranty covers replacement parts and labor.

WHAT IS NOT COVEREDThis Warranty does not cover normal wear, resharpening o the blade, damage

caused by neglect, misuse or the ailure to perorm normal or necessary mainte-

nance, disassembly o any knie by any person other than Benchmade’s Warranty

department, or shipping costs or returned knives.

Do not use your new knie as a screwdriver, prybar, chisel or punch. Do not throw

your knie or use it or any purpose other than cutting. Do not disassemble your

knie. Do not sharpen your knie on a power grinding wheel. Any o these acts will

void your Warranty. MINIMUM CHARGE TO REASSEMBLE A KNIFE WHEN THE WAR-

RANTY HAS BEEN VOIDED IS $20 PLUS PARTS.

Repair or replacement as provided under this Warranty is the exclusive remedy

o the consumer. Benchmade shall not be liable or any incidental, reliance, orconsequential damages or breach o implied Warranty on this product, including

any damage to person or property. Benchmade’s liability under any circumstances

is limited to the purchase price. Some states do not allow exclusion or limitation o

incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not

apply to you. This Warranty gives you specic legal rights, and you may also have

other rights which vary rom state to state.

This knie has only one use, as a cutting tool. Benchmade’s knives carry no warranty

except as expressly contained herein. Benchmade disclaims all warranties o

merchantability and tness or a particular purpose other than or use as a cutting

tool. There are no warranties which extend beyond the description contained herein.

Please review the Warranty inormation and proper knie care instructions provided

with each knie.

ORDERING OF AUTOMATIC KNIVESAutomatic knives are available or sale in Oregon state. All orders or automatic

knives must be on departmental purchase order or letterhead with wording to the

eect that the knives will be used as duty items. All orders or automatic knives

must be axed or mailed. We cannot accept phone orders or automatic knives. The

sales o automatic knives is Federally regulated (reer to catalog inside cover or

Federal Statutes), always check permissibility within your state or locality as non-

Federal personnel may be precluded rom ownership or use by State laws.

NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.

SHIPPING OF AUTOMATIC KNIVESAll AUTOMATIC knives shipped by Benchmade will be done via the ollowing

couriers, UPS, FedEx, etc. and CANNOT be shipped through the U.S. Postal Service.

Also please note that all returns o automatic knives must be shipped via alternate

couriers, UPS, FedEx, etc. This in accordance with the policies o the U.S. Postal

Service. Thank you.

ARE ASSIST OPEN KNIVES LEGAL?The way that the Benchmade assist opener knives are designed and built, they

are not considered an automatic or switchblade under Federal interpretations. The

Optimiser® and new Nitrous™ assist mechanisms must be initiated with the user

manually overcoming the pull o the torsion bar or, split liner systems to activate

the assist unction. This is done through the use manually or, physically having

to engage the blade rst beore opening. And, as an added saety eature, the

Benchmade assist openers must have their blades rotated open to an approximately

20 to 30-degree open angle BEFORE the assist engages. This eliminates the need

and complication o a secondary saety mechanism.Even though the Benchmade assist opener models are not classied as automatics

or switchblades, it is still recommended that the user research and veriy the

legalities in their own specic areas. Knie laws and regulations are subject

to local interpretations and may change requently.The purchase, use and ownership o knives is subject to a wide variety o local

laws and regulations. It is impossible or Benchmade Knie Company to know or

interpret all o these laws. It is the responsibility o the buyer to be aware o the

laws which govern them in their specic area wherever that may be. We encourage

the responsible ownership and use o knives as one o mankinds oldest tools. Be
