Named.after.1906.alum.Andrew.Wells.Robertson,.the.state-of-the-art.Robertson.Athletic.&.Recreation.Complex.encompases.the.home.facilities.of.the.baseball,.football,.women’s.lacrosse,.men’s.and.women’s.soccer,.softball,.and.tennis.teams.. The.original.fields,.known.then.as.College.Field,.were.built.in.1949.and.were.renamed.in.1962.for.Andrew.Wells.Robertson.to.honor.the.year.he.was.named.the.college’s.Chairman.Emeritus.of.the.Board.of.Trustees.. Robertson.Field,.the.home.of.Allegheny.Baseball,.is.located.within.the.203-acre.Robertson.Athletic.Complex..The.area.was.first.cleared.in.the.1950s,.and.in.the.late.1980s,.Allegheny.College.built.the.permanent.baseball-only.facility..The.facility.includes.a.batting.cage,.which.sits.along.the.right-field.fence,.allowing.easy.access.for.in-game.use,.and.two.spacious.dugouts.behind.each.baseline.. During.the.early.part.of.the.spring.season,.the.Gators.have.the.luxury.of.utilizing.two.full-length.indoor.batting.cages.inside.the.David.V..Wise.Sport.and.Fitness.Center..The.indoor.facilities.allows.the.team.to.throw.live.bullpen.sessions.to.hitters.and.engage.in.other.baseball-related.activities..

With.consecutive.winning.seasons.of.at.least.22.wins,.head.baseball.coach.Kelly.Swiney.enters.his.third.season.as.the.team’s.skipper,.and.will.field.a.team.in.2011,.that.is.poised.to.continue.the.upward.trend.of.recent.years.and.re-establish.Allegheny.among.the.elite.baseball.programs.in.the.country.. “It.is.our.goal.and.expectation.each.and.every.year.to.get.this.program.back.to.where.it.has.historically.been,”.explains.Swiney..“In.order.to.accomplish.that.goal,.we.have.to.be.consistent.throughout.the.year..In.doing.that,.by.the.end.of.the.season.we.should.be.in.a.position.to.make.the.North.Coast.Athletic.Con-ference.(NCAC).Tournament;.have.the.oppor-tunity.to.win.the.tournament,.and.ultimately.make.the.NCAA.tournament.”.. In.2010,.Swiney’s.second.season,.the.Gators.went.25-15.overall.and.12-4.in.the.NCAC;.the.program’s.most.overall.wins.since.2002.(25-9)..The.12-4.league.mark.qualified.the.Gators.for.the.conference.tournament.for.the.first.time.since.2007..With.the.return.of.over.half.their.starting.lineup.from.a.year.ago,.and.an.experienced.pitching.staff.that.boasts.two.senior.arms.at.the.top-end.of.the.rotation,.the.Gators.are.tabbed.by.the.league’s.head.coaches.to.finish.third.in.the.NCAC.for.the.upcoming.season... “Overall.this.year,.in.all.aspects.of.the.game.we.have.the.luxury.of.depth,”.remarked.Swiney..“This.year.our.lineup.is.a.definite.strength..Most.of.the.guys.in.our.lineup,.even.the.underclassmen,.got.a.lot.of.game.experi-ence.last.year,.and.that.experience.will.serve.us.well.this.year.”. Not.only.does.the.starting.lineup.return.this.year.with.experience.and.depth,.but.it.also.brings.with.it.an.element.that.has.not.been.there.in.years.past..“When.looking.at.our.lineup,.from.top-to-bottom,.we.possess.a.lot.of.team.speed.that.we.will.use.to.our.advantage.both.on.offense.and.defense.”. With.all.things.considered,.given.the.names.that.Swiney.will.pencil.into.the.lineup.card.on.a.game-by-game.basis,.the.expecta-tions.he.has.for.this.year’s.team.and.the.program.as.a.whole.are.not.lofty.in.the.least;.rather,.they.can.be.very.much.a.reality.

PitchingStarting Staff --.Pitching.has.an.opportunity.to.be.a.viable.strength.this.season..Returning.to.the.mix.and.anchoring.the.top-end.of.the.start-ing.staff.are.the.senior.arms.Mike.Pereslucha.and.David.Strawser..Pereslucha.is.coming.back.after.suffering.a.season-ending.injury.in.what.was.to.be.his.final.season.in.2010..The.return.of.Pereslucha.solidifies.the.Gators’.rota-tion.and.gives.them.a.genuine.ace.of.the.staff..The.right-hander.possesses.a.live.fastball,.and.compliments.his.heater.with.a.power.breaking.ball..In.two.starts.last.year,.Pereslucha.held.hitters.to.a..136.batting.average.and.struck.

out.nine.batters.while.maintaining.a.3.00.ERA...Strawser,.a.All-NCAC.Second.Team.selection.a.year.ago.for.his.work.on.the.mound,.can.be.characterized.as.a.true.“pitcher”.that.has.great.mound.presence,.remains.calm.under.pres-sure,.and.has.the.ability.to.throw.up.to.four.pitches.for.strikes..Last.year,.Strawser.was.a.workhorse.logging.51.2.innings,.mak-ing.12.overall.appearances.with.nine.starts..In.his.time.on.the.mound,.Strawser.recorded.the.second.most.strikeouts.on.the.club.with.37,.and.compiled.a.4-4.overall.record... The.starting.rotation.will.also.feature.rookie.Kyle.Davis,.who.will.enter.the.season.as.the.no..three.starter..Davis,.similar.to.Strawser,.is.an.intelligent.pitcher.that.works.the.ball.on.both.sides.of.the.plate..Davis.also.has.the.valuable.combination.of.velocity.and.movement.with.his.fastball..The.final.confer-ence.starting.role.may.see.a.few.arms.in.the.mix,.but.junior.Ben.Lowmaster.is.tabbed.to.get.the.first.crack.at.the.job..Lowmaster,.who.also.serves.as.the.team’s.primary.starting.catcher,.has.a.quality.arm.when.toeing.the.rubber..To.

help.make.him.most.effective.on.the.mound,.the.coaching.staff.will.have.to.carefully.balance.his.role.as.a.pitcher.and.starting.catcher..Also.in.the.mix.to.pick.up.mid-week.starts.and.pos-sibly.join.the.con-ference.rotation.are.sophomores.

Frank.Brank,.Phil.Morrissette,.and.rookies.Brandon.Ellis.and.Garrett.Morosky..Morosksy.is.a.left-handed.option.while.Brank,.Ellis,.and.Morrissette.are.right-handers..All.four.will.not.only.be.looked.at.in.the.starting.rotation,.but.each.will.be.utilized.out.of.the.bullpen.as.well.

Relief.–.The.core.of.relievers.that.Swiney.will.call.upon.from.the.bullpen.will.be.young,.however,.they.are.also.a.talented.group..One.of.the.top.relievers.on.the.club.will.not.emerge.from.the.pen.when.called.upon;.rather,.sopho-more.Eric.Hansen.will.march.onto.the.mound.from.his.centerfield.spot..Hansen,.who.did.not.appear.in.a.game.as.a.pitcher.last.season,.began.working.in.as.a.pitcher.this.fall..Already.with.a.great.arm.in.the.outfield,.his.develop-ment.as.a.pitcher.has.been.quick,.and.was.

impressive.during.the.fall..The.top.two.bullpen.arms.returning.from.last.year.are.sophomore.Frank.Brank.and.junior.Kyle.Berns..The.left-handed.Berns,.in.nine.appearances.and.22.0.innings.in.relief.last.season,.posted.a.team-low.1.59.ERA.and.punched-out.18.batters..He.will.be.looked.to.fill.the.middle.relief.role.once.again.in.2011..Brank.had.the.second-lowest.ERA.among.relievers.and.emerged.as.a.reliable.relief.option.in.his.rookie.campaign..In.that.year,.Brank.went.2-0.with.a.2.66.ERA.in.20.1.innings.pitched.over.seven.total.appear-ances.and.one.start..He.also.led.the.team.in.saves.with.two.. Sophomore.Jake.Forstyk.will.see.time.on.the.bump.after.losing.his.rookie.season.to.injury..At.6’7”,.Forstyk.is.the.tallest.member.of.pitching.staff..A.pair.of.rookies.in.Samuel.Hyun.and.Mike.Pezzone.will.log.innings.this.year.as.well,.adding.to.the.depth.of.the.staff.

“I.am.excited.about.the.overall.depth.of.the.staff;.between.the.starters.and.the.relievers.we.have.valuable.experience.at.the.top.and.have.several.young.options.that.we.are.excited.about.developing,”.noted.Swiney..“It.will.be.a.matter.of.who.steps.up.for.us.as.the.season.progresses.and.eats.up.the.crucial.innings.late.in.games.”

InfieldCatchers.–.Starting.behind.the.dish.once.again.for.the.Gators.is.slated.to.be.Lowmaster..A.season.ago,.he.was.named.to.the.All-NCAC.First.Team.after.hitting..389.with.15.doubles.and.driving.in.32.runs..Lowmaster.has.the.potential.to.hit.over..400.as.a.hitter,.and.has.also.developed.into.a.skilled.defender.behind.the.plate..To.match.his.experience.as.the.pri-mary.backstop,.Lowmaster.possesses.a.great.arm.and.is.able.to.control.the.other.team’s.running.game.with.his.plus-arm..Spelling.Lowmaster.over.the.course.of.a.conference.weekend,.or.a.fill-in.for.when.he.pitches.will.be.either.sophomore.Frank.Triozzi.or.rookie.Shane.Regel..Triozzi.is.more.of.a.defensively-strong.catcher,.while.Regel.has.a.better.bat.at.the.moment..Sophomore.Mick.Betler.will.also.figure.into.the.mix.and.add.to.the.catching.depth.

Baseball.America.Division.III.Preseason.Player.Watch.List,.Stahl.is.the.highest.profiled.return-ing.hitter.on.the.team..Fueling.the.preseason.accolades.was.his.magnificent.junior.season.in.which.he.was.third.in.the.nation,.and.tops.in.the.NCAC.in.batting.average.(.500)..In.his.first.two.seasons.as.a.regular.starter,.Stahl.has.hit.over..420.each.of.those.years.and.is.now.on.pace.to.set.a.new.career.batting.average.re-cord.by.season’s.end..As.a.senior.and.captain,.Stahl.will.be.looked.upon.to.be.the.leader.of.the.offense..Swiney.is.hopeful.that.not.only.Stahl.will.continue.to.hit.for.average,.but.also.that.his.power.numbers.will.increase..Adding.depth.at.first.base.will.be.sophomore.Chad.Starzer.and.rookie.Paul.Nelson.

Second Base.–.Sophomore.Jeff.Dassner,.who.appeared.in.all.40.games.(38.starts).a.year.ago,.will.be.the.opening.day.second.baseman.once.again..Defen-sively,.he.is.solid.and.has.range.up.the.middle..With.above-average.speed.already.in.his.skill.set,.the.hopes.are.that.he.will.find.his.way.on.base.more.often.and.raise.his.batting.average.of..302.from.a.year.ago..Batting.in.the.middle.third.of.the.lineup,.RBI.opportunities.will.be.there.for.Dassner.throughout.the.season..Behind.Dassner.will.be.rookie.Eddie.Mora-Loera..Mora-Loera.is.a.player.that.hails.from.a.strong.high.school.pro-gram.in.Oakland,.Calif..(Bishop.O’Dowd.High),.and.with.his.ability.to.hit.and.defensive.skills,.he.will.push.for.playing.time.as.a.rookie.

Shortstop.–.A.tight.battle.between.a.pair.of.rookies.in.Jon.Boyd.and.Kyle.Davis.is.being.waged.to.find.the.starter.at.shortstop.in.2011..Each.brings.athleticism.and.talent.to.the.posi-tion,.making.the.decision.a.pleasant.problem.for.the.coaching.staff..Boyd.has.a.great.glove.and.fields.the.ball.well.while.having.a.great.knowledge.of.the.game..Davis.has.a.strong.arm.to.compliment.his.range..Consistent.and.productive.hitting.will.more.than.likely.be.the.determining.factor.in.deciding.which.one.becomes.the.everyday.shortstop.

Third Base.–.Anchoring.the.hot.corner.this.year.will.be.senior.captain.Aaron.Lynch..Lynch.is.moving.to.third.base.after.spending.most.of.last.year.as.the.shortstop.following.the.season-ending.injury.to.Pereslucha..A.bet-

ter.fit.all.around.at.third.base,.Lynch.will.be.expected.to.provide.senior.leadership,.and.for.his.numbers.to.return.to.what.he.put.up.his.first.year.as.a.Gator..Backing.up.Lynch.at.third.base.will.be.rookies.Mike.Pezzone.and.Eric.Brandt..Pezzone.is.a.great.defender.with.a.plus.arm..Brandt.is.a.solid.hitter..Both.will.provide.significant.depth.at.third.

OutfieldCenterfield.–.Patrolling.centerfield,.and.leading.off.will.be.returning.sophomore.Eric.Hansen..An.aggressive.player.that.impacts.the.game.with.his.bat,.speed,.and.exceptional.range,.Hansen.will.be.a.major.key.to.the.production.of.the.remainder.of.the.lineup..A.season.ago,.he.was.selected.as.an.All-NCAC.Second.Team.performer.after.having.the.second-highest.batting.average.(.409).and.on-base.percentage.(.527).on.the.team..Hansen.also.led.the.team.in.runs.scored.(50).and.stolen.bases.(17)..Adding.to.the.depth.of.centerfield.will.be.rookie.Andy.Feikls..Late.in.games.to.free.up.the.possibility.of.Hansen.closing.games,.Feikls.will.be.called.upon.as.a.defensive.replacement.given.that.he.is.an.excellent.defensive.outfielder.
