2011 - 2012 UNITED WAY OF LARIMER COUNTY

REPORT TO THE COMMUNITY

WE LIVE UNITEDUnited Way began its service in Larimer County more than 50 years ago. During this time, the needs of our community have grown and changed. With your help, we are addressing our community’s issues in order to best affect long-term results in the areas of education, income and health – the building blocks for a good quality of life.

United Way of Larimer County brings together local people and organizations with the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done. The future of our community is the outcome of what we do today. It’s in every choice we make as individuals, families and as a community.

Together, we can inspire hope, and create opportunities for a better tomorrow.

As an organization, we are committed to accountability and transparency. Our responsibility to our donors, partners, and the community itself is to ensure that the dollars entrusted to United Way are invested in ways that will produce measurable results for the community, and that the organization is operating with efficiency and integrity.

Thank you for another year of generous support. We could not manage without the long-time support of the many volunteers and donors who sustain us at United Way of Larimer County.

We appreciate your continued support, and all you do to LIVE UNITED.

Gordan ThibedeauPresident and CEO

Bryan Guest2011-2012 Board Chair

We lead the community to meet the needs of those in need.

To cultivate and mobilize community resources to change and save lives.

OUR WORK

Who are we?United Way of Larimer County is a community impact organization that does much more than fundraising alone. We are a leader in creating long-lasting changes by addressing underlying causes of the most pressing needs people face in our community.

What do we do?United Way of Larimer County works with our partners to support dozens of programs and services that help people in our community by meeting basic needs, creating opportunities for financial stability for families, and helping children succeed.

How do we impact our community?• We convene and work side-by-side with individuals,

nonprofits, government, businesses, faith-based and other community partners.

• We create and fund initiatives that improve the quality of life for individuals and families.

• We provide technical assistance, leadership development and a wide range of support to strengthen our nonprofit partners.

• We work with policy makers and advocate on important issues to reduce poverty and create long-term solutions.

• We are accountable for our efforts. We continually evaluate programs for effectiveness.

WOMENGIVEA partnership of United Way of Larimer County and the Women’s Foundation of Colorado, WomenGive provides financial assistance for childcare for single mothers attending college. The cost of childcare is a major barrier to self-sufficiency for women and girls in Larimer County. The initiative also focuses on addressing public policy for self-sufficiency of women and girls in our community and statewide. Since the program started six years ago, 55 single mothers have graduated from college with the help of WomenGive childcare scholarships.
