WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This event will allow power plant operators from
across Europe and beyond to share experiences
and benchmark with fellow operators involved in
planning, developing, constructing, and operating
new build projects.
The event will be of interest to organisational
leaders in the following operational departments
and fields:
> Asset development
> New build
> Business development
> Commercial, procurement and contracting
> Project development and management
> Construction, quality and supply chain
> Plant management
> Operations implementation
> Engineering
> O&M
Additionally, we expect the event to be of interest to
providers of turnkey and packaged based solutions –
whether they be owner‘s engineers, OEMs or specialist
service providers – in the fields of:
> Power plant design, technology and
> upgrade/retrofit
> Front end engineering and design and
> pre-project planning
> Owner‘s engineer construction and
> project management
> Planning, engineering design and project
> delivery consultancy
> Business development, sales and marketing
> Research and development
With stringent emissions targets, ageing fleets,
and political, economic and financial barriers
facing the mass deployment of new nuclear and
renewable assets, the European energy sector
currently faces major capacity challenges. To
achieve the EU’s goals of reducing C02 emissions,
half of Europe’s fossil fuel power stations alone
must be replaced, and with nations otherwise
facing a black hole in generation capacity, a
new generation of modern and environmentally
efficient fossil fuelled power plants is needed to
provide flexible generation capacity.
We are delighted to invite you to European New
Build 2011, which will offer you an operationally
focussed insight into the planning, construction,
mobilisation, commissioning and successful
operation of new build CCGT and coal-fired
power plants.
Bringing together a diverse range of speakers with
experience in new build project management,
O&M implementation, plant management, CCS
demonstration, and environmental regulation,
the event is your opportunity to ensure that you
incorporate all of the appropriate lessons learned
and advice from the experts into your new asset
development strategy. Eleven operator led case
studies will give you practical insights into:
» Planning and ensuring consent for new
asset development – site selection, public
engagement and environmental compliance
at London Gateway Logistics Park, Coryton
» Overcoming site selection challenges and
building a carbon capture ready CCGT at
Cockenzie
» Contracting and construction of large CCGT
projects in Europe – Vattenfall’s perspective
» Operational implementation and mobilising
an asset management strategy at West Burton
CCGT
» Effective O&M implementation at Akenerji’s
new build projects and the impact of plant
flexibility on the new build market
» Current project status of the Moorburg and
Boxberg coal-fired power plants and the role
of coal-fired power generation in a carbon
constrained future.
» The challenges for building, retrofitting and
demonstrating Carbon Capture and Storage
at new build and existing sites
» Scrutinising the risk management processes
of your project
» Seamless transition from construction
to commissioning and into commercial
operations at Maastroom Power Plant
» Developing and financing projects at a global
level – the perspective of an IPP
European utilities are now investing billions
of Euros in efficient coal and gas-fired power
stations that will continue to form the backbone
of secure and flexible energy supplies. Don’t miss
this opportunity to share your experiences with
leading European operators, discover investment
opportunities and assess the future direction of
new fossil fuelled projects in a carbon constrained
future.
We look forward to welcoming you to London.
Yours sincerely,
Thomas Cook
