CLASSROOM GS 410/GS 410S - Introduction to Technology Scouting – ½ Day or 2 Day, sponsored by MassMEP This 2-day workshop provides MEP Representatives with the initial training required to become a Technology Scout and is intended as a first step to delivering Technology Scouting as a Growth Service offering to MEP clients. Led by RTI International Technology Scouting mentor/trainers, participants work in small groups to learn the full Technology Scouting process and methodology. The course approach is highly interactive and involves multiple participatory activities where participants practice the core skills of Technology Scouting – interviewing, organizing, and researching. The workshop is structured around hands-on group and applied learning exercises based on real world MEP Technology Scouting examples. As a result of attending this Technology Scouting workshop, attendees should expect to return to their MEP Center ready to participate in mentored/guided Technology Scouting efforts. Trainees will have learned the complete Technology Scouting process and practiced the tools and techniques associated with each step of the process; will have learned a comprehensive research strategy and methodology including practicing secondary (desk) and primary (phone) interview skills; and will leave with proficiency in the use of the templates and tools necessary to provide Technology Scouting as a Growth service offering to their client in subsequent guided projects. This 2-day workshop provides MEP Representatives with the instruction and tools needed to initiate TDMI services for MEP clients. The format includes two sessions that build upon each other: 1. A ½-day introduction session on the morning of the first day for both MEP representatives that work with MEP clients to promote growth services (i.e., “sellers“) and MEP representatives that will perform TDMI (i.e., “practitioners.”) 2. A 1 ½ day session immediately following the introduction session that provides practitioners with the skills and tools needed to start performing TDMI services for clients. The course is not designed to make the participants expert Trainers - that would require many more hours than those currently being allocated. Rather, the approach taken is to strengthen participants’ knowledge of the fundamentals of teaching the adult learner and provide a secure environment to practice key skills. Upon completion of this course the participants should understand what is required to achieve success for themselves as Trainers and for their future students. With ongoing practice, both inside and outside the classroom, as a learner and a Trainer, the fundamental skills taught in this course can be mastered. $1,195 per enrollee.
